MHA x One Piece
The update today is yet another fun update that I love to create from time to time. Comparisons/crossovers!!! My top two favorite anime out there is One PIece and MHA and I figured that I NEED to do something with them both so today I’m comparing One Piece and MHA characters. So, which One Piece character is our MHA twin/equivalent? I will be comparing personalities, attack styles, powers, storylines and much more.
Yes, more or so this update is me pouring my heart out about how passionate I am about both MHA and One Piece.
Before we get into it though, let’s just VERY briefly explain what One Piece is. One Piece is one of the longest running anime/manga series in existence and WAS the #1 best selling manga for over ten years up until Demon Slayer’s release last year. One Piece follows sixteen year old Monkey D. Luffy as he’s heavily influenced by his childhood hero, Red Haired Shanks, to become a Pirate. Oh no, not just any pirate, THE King of the Pirates. The only way you can become King of the Pirates is to find the fabled One Piece: the former King of the Pirate’s secret treasure. So, Luffy sets out into the world and puts together a crew of his own and goes on bountiful adventures and get gut-wrenching journeys.
Let’s get into it!
Izuku Midoriya as Bon Clay aka Mr.2
Yeah, ha ha!!! I start out this thing with one of the most visually cringiest One Piece characters out there! I was initially gonna say that Deku would’ve been Bartolomeo, but figured Bon fit the bill better. Oddly enough, Bon Clay is actually one of my favorite One Piece characters on top of the fact he WAS gonna become a Straw Hat. There’s reasons why he couldn’t have joined and I’m not gonna spoil you guys on that. But yeah, long story short, Bon Clay is a former Antagonist in One Piece who REALLY redeemed himself later on. He is… Really into drag. That’s the easiest way to describe him as he’s actually the new ‘Queen’ or Ruler of an undercover prison group of Transgenders, Queers and Drag Queens. Bon also possesses the ability to shapeshift into anyone he’s touched on the face with his right hand. You might think ‘Why are Bon and Deku similar?’ Well strap in cause I’ll explain. To begin, Bon and Midoriya are dedicated fan boys. They’re both willing to sacrifice their lives and work to the bone for their loves in life, those being Straw Hat Luffy and All Might. Or better yet, their comrades. They’ve both faced death upon protecting their friends and family. Next up, Bon and Midoriya are very ‘flashy’ with their similar attacking styles. They’re both very reliant on leg attacks and are superior in such to be more specific and that they both ‘dance’ in a way in combat. Deku is pulling out all the spins and such while Bon’s passion is ballet and it definitely reflects in the way they fight. Lastly, sheer dedication. No matter the circumstance, Midoriya and Bon view everyone as their friends unless proven otherwise and in doing such there’s this unbreakable bond with nearly everyone they communicate with. Hence when Bon was initially introduced, Luffy and his crew had no idea he was actually a villain! They clicked upon meeting and it hurt Bon Clay to learn that he too befriended the enemy and in the end, decided to respect a friendship over his own boss. You can always trust your life in the hands of this ballet queen and hero in the making.
Shoto Todoroki as Roronoa Zoro
I think we kinda saw this one coming. Shoto Todoroki would be the fan favorite swordsman of the anime world; Roronoa Zoro. Zoro is a swordsman, and the only three sword swordsman of the One Piece universe. He was Luffy’s first crewmate as well as the second in command/right hand man of the Straw Hat Crew. Although he isn’t the strongest swordsman in the universe, many like to call him by such a title as the only person stronger than him is his mentor that he strives to eventually defeat. So, Todoroki and Zoro are actually extremely similar to the point it’s almost astonishing. Manga readers are aware of how much Shoto loves to sleep, in fact, he’s actually constantly looking for a reason to nap. Zoro too is exactly that way. He’ll sleep whenever he can, be it even in the most inappropriate time or place because he loves to sleep sleep sleep. Next up, Zoro and Shoto both have scars on their left eye. Next, how dense or clueless they can be. They’re both more along the lines, book smart rather than street smart. They just straight up aren’t known to think things over very well and can’t read emotions let alone people all that well. Like if you talk sarcastically or joke around, don’t be surprised if Shoto or Zoro will literally do what you suggest. It’s also because of their ignorance that they totally aren’t aware of the females who crush deeply on them. Oddly enough, Shoto and Zoro also aren’t really fans of sweet foods. They prefer to keep their food pallets ‘traditional’ japanese cuisine. Or to put it simply, unless it’s japanese food, don’t expect them to go out of their comfort zones. Next up, Shoto and Zoro actually don’t care about their bodies all that much. They’re surprisingly suicidal! They’ll happily go into fights without a care in the world if they come out alive or not. Lastly, their power levels. Shoto and Zoro are often labeled the ‘second’ strongest. With Shoto he’s the second strongest in his class while with Zoro he’s the second best at what he does, the second strongest in his crew, the second strongest swordsman. They just can’t seem to surpass those who best them. How similar is that? Scary huh?
Katsuki Bakugou as Eustass Kidd
Alright! I’ve actually compared Bakugou and Eustass before on this book but it looks like I’m at it again. Katsuki Bakugou would be Eustass Fucking Kidd. Eustass Kidd is one of the most merciless pirates of the Worst Generation (A list/grouping of Pirates with the highest bounties) who is known for always killing his victims, hence being known as merciless, and strives to find the One Piece. Kidd is the captain of his own crew of loyal nightmarish followers who also possesses a magnetism devil fruit/super power. Despite being so… Scary. Kidd actually isn’t an antagonist. Not in the slightest! I gotta admit, despite not being in the anime/manga not all that often up until the Wano arc, I still actually REALLY like Eustass. Probably because he reminds me of Bakugou so much! Let’s just start out with the fact that Bakugou and Eustass have what I’d consider similar dreams. Bakugou wants to become the #1 hero while Eustass strives to find the One Piece, and in doing so would crown him as King of the Pirates. Their overall ‘first impression’ and personalities are the same. Bakugou gives off this villainous aura, in fact his destructive nature is part of his image. His violent actions and disconnection to his peers made villains seek him out and not many people will ever dare to view him as a hero despite being a genuine hero at heart. Eustass Kidd too is a violent and destructive man. However, despite his murderous ways, he’s actually done a lot of good things plus he’s just like Luffy (Let’s not forget that Luffy has beaten villains extremely badly, most likely either killing them or leaving each person for dead) he’s just another pirate searching for the One Piece. Not to forget Bakugou and Kidd are short tempered! Bakugou and Kidd also have that one person who they’ve allowed inside. Bakugou has Kirishima, someone Bakugou views as his best friend and the person he can trust his life within. Eustass has Killer, a childhood friend of his and that they’re not gonna separate anytime soon.
Eijiro Kirishima as Cyborg Franky
Please tell me someone saw this coming? Eijiro Kirishima would be the MANLY cyborg of One Piece: Franky. I know I say this alot but Franky is actually one of my all time favorite anime characters out there. I mean, I’m not in love with his design, in fact his time-skip makeovers are a bit cringe, but he’s just a down to heart great character! It’s so hard to hate him! But, enough with the rambling. Franky was initially introduced as a villain in One Piece as he stole from and beat up one of the Straw Hat members, but was eventually shown as a good guy as he genuinely wanted what's best for the Straw Hats especially when they went out of their way to save him later on and he in turn during said time protected them with his life and later joined the Straw Hats as a vital member AND built their current ship: The Thousand Sunny. So, lets start out with the obvious. Franky and Kirishima’s entire characters revolve around pride and being manly! A real man treats a lady with respect, to protect his peers, isn’t afraid to embarrass himself to do what's right (Even if it means to streak around an entire city). They both got bro codes, have an emphasis on muscles and image and much more. Franky’s youth relationship with Dom and Iceberg REALLY reminds me of the relationship Kirishima had with Fatgum and Tamaki. Just mentors teaching their apprentices and loving each other despite all else! Franky and Kirishima are also ‘Shields’. I mean it when I say this because Kirishima and Franky brutally F-ed up their bodies on numerous occasions just to protect others but also because due to Kiri having a hardening quirk and Franky’s body being robotic, they can take on more damage than most. BTW, I’m leaving a video of my all time favorite (Funny) scene in One Piece up top. It revolves around Franky and his manly pride.
Shota Aizawa as Trafalgar Law
Two of my all time favorite anime characters in existence in one place. They’re my ‘guilty pleasure’ characters as well so… Let’s just get into it. Trafalgar Law is the fan favorite of One Piece and he deserves the praise he gets. Despite One Piece being in the pirate age, Law is the ‘current day’ character as he’s the best surgeon in the world who also wears common clothing, most notably jeans and hoodies and has a pet polar bear! Much like Eustass, Luffy and Zoro, Law is a member of the Worst Generation who has a surgeon devil fruit/super power that allows him to manipulate anything in his ‘room’ such as removing and/or replacing body parts (He could steal your heart and crush it) swap personalities, teleportation, gamma rays, etc. Let’s just start out with the obvious. Despite being badasses AND winning lots of battles, they’re known as the character that is always on the brink of death/taking all the punches. Yes, we all know what I’m talking about but I’ll explain anyways. Aizawa is ALWAYS taking the punches for his class. He nearly got himself killed in season one protecting his class resulting in his nasty scar as well as explaining why he was wrapped in bandages for most of season 2 only for seasons 3 and four to come around! He’s nearly getting burnt alive, bones broken, villains apprehending him and later on in the manga he’s injured so horribly, so permanently, he can only use his quirk extremely sparingly. Now Law, long story short he just barely wins all his battles by the skin of his teeth OR he fails miserably. He never leaves a fight unscathed. Even losing an arm in one battle too and most recently in Wano, getting brutally injured and imprisoned by Kaido. Next up, Law and Aizawa always deal with their class’s and crew’s bullshit. Aizawa is the teacher who always has to keep his class in line while Law is sort of like a babysitter to the Straw Hats and hates doing so. Law’s own crew is so much more well behaved than the Straw Hats! Aizawa and Law are always at the butt of every joke because they’re always responsible for their troubled children! Personality wise, Law and Aizawa love to nap, hate communication with people, are softies when it comes to animals (Aizawa and his cats while Law loves Bepo the polar bear and Chopper the reindeer), are expert tacticians and love to ‘bend’ the rules to their advantage.
Momo Yaoyorozu as Nico Robin
Again, I think we all saw this one coming. Honestly, for a while I thought they shared a voice actor but apparently not. BUT they do both voice characters in the same anime (Momo is Luffy while Robin is Nana Shimura). Nico Robin is a former antagonist who's a very sophisticated and wise girl with outrageous body proportions who possesses the power to multiply any part of her body as large and as many as she wants. She’s best known for multiplying her arms and breaking people's necks or spines or just straight up rendering enemies immobile. Let’s just get the obvious out of the way… Momo and Robin have the most outrageous body proportions and most likely the biggest ‘chest’ size out of the females in their respected anime. Next up, Robin and Momo have a very similar dialect/way of speaking. Very poised/sophisticated. They both also just love to own the fact that they’re beautiful and that they aren’t afraid to own it. They’re both very very smart and can easily think around situations and more. Resourceful too. They both have a soft spot for drinking tea, or in Robin’s case she prefers coffee just a little bit more, and reading books too. Lastly, Momo is very clearly in love/crushing on Shoto Todoroki while Robin, her and Franky have so much sexual tension. All that they ever do is flirt with each other! (One Piece’s author, Oda, has stated that he doesn’t plan on having romance between crew mates yet he gives us Franky x Robin!) Anybody else support this ship?
Ochako Uraraka as Nami
(
(^^^My Artwork Btw^^^)
AND once again I’ve compared these girls before on this book but I’m doing it again because it is so painfully obvious. Uraraka would be Nami of One Piece. Nami was introduced in the very first episode of One Piece as a cat burglar and very quickly gained Luffy and Zoro’s trust and joined as their third member. Nami absolutely adores money (Thanks to her childhood trauma that is…) and although she doesn’t have a devil fruit/superpower, Nami can manipulate the weather! I actually see Nami and Uraraka as the same person just with a six year age difference! For beginners, Nami and Uraraka share a voice actor named Luci Christian. Second, their occupations/dreams are heavily influenced by money. Uraraka is a hero mainly because she wants to financially support her family while Nami had no choice as a child to turn to theft as she was determined to literally buy her enslaved town’s freedom. Despite her town being saved later on, she still has a great love for money and was given the responsibility of the Straw Hat’s money. Next up, Uraraka and Nami are the closest females to the main protagonist of their respected series. These girls are also badass!!! I love these two so much because they’re both pretty AND strong. Uraraka is the best trained in hand to hand combat in her class and isn’t afraid to get down and dirty. Nami too, although she’s lost touch with hand to hand combat over the timeskip, is still a frighteningly strong female. In fact she’s so strong, she’s the only female the males of her crew are legitimately scared shitless over. Next, Uraraka and Nami are great tacticians and can easily think about their situations. These girls won’t pussyfoot around, they aren’t gonna admit defeat, they’re gonna keep chipping away at problems until they’re accomplished.Their personalities too. Nami and Uraraka are so bubbly and comforting (As long as they aren’t pissed off), they are self sufficient and don’t need a man to save them either. They’re also easily swayed over/bribed not to forget. Nami and Uraraka are strong women and I genuinely love them for such.
Present Mic as Humming Brook
Present Mic would be Humming Brook of One Piece. Although introduced in my opinion to be the worst or cringiest arc in One Piece, (The entire arc was dedicated purely to The Nightmare Before Christmas but with horrible puns and jokes all over the place AND all of One Piece’s worst villains in one place.) Brook is the undead skeletal member of the Straw Hat crew. The second biggest pervert as well. Before death, he used to be a member of a pirate crew purely dedicated to sailing the world and creating music. After death, well, he cheated death by consuming a devil fruit that allowed his soul to live on as well as granting him the ability to separate his soul from his body. Over the timeskip, he became a rock n’ roll sensation! You’d think that a musician would fit Jirou’s character better, and yes it does. It’s Brook’s personality that screams Mic though. Plus, Mic is technically in the music business if one of his side jobs is being an MC/DJ. Let’s just throw it out there that Mic and Brook aren’t the smartest guys and that they’re VERY easily distracted. They’re total goofballs!!! Always stating the obvious and loving to fill our audiences in. They’re always looking for that perfect moment to squeeze in a joke or an off handed comment. Anything to elicit a response from someone! They’re also… Scaredy cats despite being heroes. It doesn’t take much to scare the living daylights out of Mic or Brook in which their weaknesses would be insects or corpses (Despite being a skeleton himself). Mic and Brook won’t miss a chance to scream their lungs out! I swear Brook is always trying to be the loudest person in any room and well, Mic is always the loudest in any room. Not to forget their cheesy smiles! That’s about it for them, but it’s still unsettling.
Denki Kaminari and Vinsmoke Sanji
Flirty blondes who can hold themselves in a fight!!! Kaminari, after much thought, would be Sanji! Sanji is the fifth member of the Straw Hats. He’s a prince who’s always dressed in a suit, cooking is his passion, has a cigarette at hand, has an iconic leg reliant martial artist attack style and can’t live without his daily dose of women. He’s a surprisingly complex character and has an entire arc dedicated to himself in One Piece! Sanji’s also my all time favorite anime character out there and I mean all time! So, Kaminari and Sanji are respectable perverts. They’re very clearly perverts but all at the same time they know when to draw lines and which boundaries are forbidden to cross. Although Kaminari hasn’t fought a female in MHA yet, I can most definitely see him as someone like Sanji who can’t raise a fist against a woman. Despite how badly Kaminari and Sanji would love to get a piece of action, be it a woman is accidentally ‘declothed’ somehow, their pervertedness is thrown out the window and chivalry sets in. They’ll happily fork over their own clothing if it means the girl in question is covered and happy. Off the chivalry topic… Kaminari and Sanji are REALLY well known for having their brains fried. Kaminari is known to overuse his quirk to the point of ‘short circuiting’ leaving himself vulnerable and mentally handicapped for an extended period of time. Sanji too is known for such. There was a point in time that his nose bleeds were so intense that it’d knock him out for hours at a time. His pure dedication and chivalry towards women also ‘fry’ his mind to the point he loses all reason and cannot do anything at all. Despite being airheads from time to time, Kaminari and Sanji can hold their own in fights as long as their brains aren’t fried. They both use specific elements in combat. Kaminari has electricity while Sanji uses fire AND most recently electricity as well. Kaminari and Sanji have likable personalities. They’ll be able to get along with most with ease and are welcoming of the most odd people, even if they’re enemies or not. Everyone is an ally unless proven otherwise! Let’s not forget Kaminari’s origins! Kaminari was originally planned out to be an edgy character, most likely an antagonist later on until clear changes were made. Sanji was actually an antagonist for a brief while. He turned against his own crew to keep them safe. But still, he did bad things… Anyways, that's Kaminari and Sanji for you.
Hero Killer Stain and Vice Admiral Smoker
Arguably one of my favorite anti-heroes, Hero Killer Stain would be Smoker from One Piece. Smoker is a marine in the One Piece universe BUT he sympathises with both the pirates AND the marines and will do whatever his heart feels is the correct thing to do. Smoker is a recurring character in One Piece for over 500 episodes who possesses the ability to manipulate AND become smoke. Hence why he’s named Smoker and always smokes multiple cigars at once. It’s primarily Stain and Smoker’s ideals that make them one in the same. Stain kills heroes and villains alike. He only wants heroes who are pure and do their job for no personal gain and for heroism and satisfaction alone. Villains are just a roadblock in his eyes and that it isn’t right for villains to do the things they do and in thinking of such, Stain is aware that he’s a bad person as well. He however, feels that his actions are redeemed by the fact he’s ridding the world of false heroes in which is a respectable claim that moved society as a whole. Smoke from One Piece is pretty much the same exact way except… He doesn’t target other fellow marines unlike Stain. Smoker is very well aware that the government is broken, its being run by horrible power thirsty tyrants. Most notably in the Paramount War/Battle of Marineford, Akainu issued out the order to kill any and all pirates despite the fact that the Marines CLEARY have won. Smoker stood his ground and said that it’s fucked up to actively pursue the remaining pirates that were fleeing like dogs with their tails tucked between their legs. The pirates lost, they received the message, there’s no need to continue the violence. Every single time before and after the war, Smoker had time and time again sided with pirates and aided them in their journeys. Most notably in Punk Hazard when he aided Luffy and Law in taking down a fellow admiral. Smoker however, will kill or apprehend pirates that pillage and cause violence. Only pirates that are pirates for the sake of traveling the world are okay. These ideals make Stain and Smoker one in the same and therefore marks them as characters I hold tremendous respect for.
That’s all for now! I wanted to do more but felt that my picture limit was on the rise and this update is extremely long as it is. Which comparison did you like the most? Which characters are your favorite?
