If MHA Characters Were Villains

Today’s Update is one I’ve been putting together for quite a while now. I know/we all know how awesome the villain versions of our favorite protagonists are. Just take a look at Shadow the Hedgehog who’s the villainous doppelganger to Sonic the Hedgehog, Nagito Komaeda who’s the darker version of Makoto Naegi but is still considered a protagonist, Vanitas who’s literally Heartless Sora but also Venom who’s Spiderman’s villainous side. They are all fan favorites for the main reason that they are the villainous doppelgangers of their respected protagonist.

Let’s mention a few non-canon fan favorite protagonists gone evil: Villain Deku, Evil Elsa and lastly Villain/Upside Down Eleven (Yeah, a lot of my friends love the idea that she could’ve gone evil but I personally don’t).

Clearly, it's no secret that most people like villains better than the heroes themselves. Therefore, this update looks into MHA characters and which other anime villains they’d become. Some of the results are shocking! Also, some characters are compared to multiple villains as some MHA characters would have multiple motivations to become a villain and therefore would take multiple different routes.

Dabi as Lunatic from Tiger & Bunny

To start off this list, I chose Dabi as he was an easy decision. Lunatic, AKA Yuri Petrov, is an anti-hero of the Tiger & Bunny series. Some people like to straight out call Lunatic a villain as he’s a serial killer. However, much like Stain, Lunatic had understandable yet arguably heroic motives that led him down his dark path. Dabi is a follower of Hero Killer Stain as we all know and Stain’s ideals consisted of purging those who called themselves heroes who weren’t heroes for the right reasons (Wealth, Fame, Etc) & that only the true heroes like All Might were allowed to remain. Lunatic was the exact opposite, sort of. Lunatic purged villains who didn’t deserve to walk the earth as well as heroes who shouldn’t be heroes in the first place (Basically, Stain’s ideology). Dabi does exactly what Lunatic does. Dabi has been known to murder heroes and villains alike. Out of the ideology section… Lunatic and Dabi are, assumed, to have extremely similar backstories. Both Lunatic and Dabi were born with insanely powerful blue fire quirks as well as born into families where their fathers are incredibly abusive pro heroes. Due to their fathers abuse, Dabi and Lunatic left their families and turned to a life of villainy where they strive to make sure Heroes like their fathers never happen again. On top of all this, Dabi and Lunatic have nasty burn scars on their body. While Dabi embraces his scars, Lunatic hides them with make up.

Katsuki Bakugou as Isaac ‘Zack’ Foster from Angels of Death

Next off is one that I’m sure at least some of you knew would make the list. Zack is a serial killer to put it simply. Alright, unlike Dabi, Bakugou is a full fledged hero. That means we need to give him motivation to become a villain. Let’s reimagine Bakugou’s childhood into something similar to Zack’s. We already know that Mitsuki was sort of abusive in the ‘tough love’ department but what if she was full on abusive to her family? Mitsuki never wanted kids, but she’s stuck with Bakugou, so she’s brutally honest about not loving Bakugou and physically abuses him. During this time, Bakugou’s aggressive behavior and vulgar vocabulary is building and when he has had enough he attacks his abusive mother and due to the fact he was sent to live off the rest of his childhood in a foster home. The foster home is even worse… Bakugou is now a teenager, he murders his foster parents and lives off the rest of his life as a serial killer as Bakugou only understands violence and murders for the sake it gives him pleasure. Now, both Zack and Bakugou and crazy powerful psycho serial killers. Now that Bakugou has his motivation to become a villain, I bet you’re still wondering why I chose Zack to be his villain. Well, their backstories would go together extremely (The only difference is that Zack was burned alive as a kid) not to forget that the characters themselves have physical/mental similarities. Zack and Bakugou share a japanese voice actor and they share the exact same personality: Vulgar, destructive, blood thirsty, distrustful of others and ill tempered. They’re practically twins even if Bakugou went villain or not (As judging by their mountain of fanart together)

Katsuki Bakugou as Dio Brando from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure

Yes, I have yet another possible villainous route that Bakugou would take and in this case he would’ve taken Dio Brando’s course of action. Forewarning, I still have yet to finish Stardust Crusaders therefore I’m not sure how Dio acted towards the end of Part 3. Again, let’s reimagine Bakugou’s childhood/past. Due to horrible living conditions, Bakugou murders his last remaining relative and moves in with a family who’s better off: Izuku’s Family. Bakugou wants to be the poster child of the family so he’s now dedicated to making Izuku’s life horrible (In which Bakugou already does in canon.) No longer teenagers but rather adults, Bakugou can coexist with Izuku as his rival but with a new motivation: Power. Izuku is an architect and is studying a mask that can actually give the wearer vampire-like powers in which Bakugou steals for himself becoming a powerful humanoid creature. That’s where Dio and Bakugou could’ve stopped but were stupid and craved even more power. We all know Bakugou wants to be the best of the best and nobodies getting in his way, more of a reason I gave him Dio’s backstory. Dio and Bakugou are using their newfound powers to become immortal as well as the strongest beings on earth. They’re murdering people just because they can, making lives worst just because they can, and want to murder their lifelong rival. Dio, Bakugou, you two have problems…

Himiko Toga as Toko Fukawa/Genocide Jack from Danganronpa

I don’t have to go far for this one judging by the fact Toga and Toko are both female serial killers with a love for blood and murdering boys. Toga and Toko are extremely skilled with a blade and murder the boys they crush on. Or, at least that’s what I think… I know for a fact that the villain route in My Hero One’s Justice wasn’t canon but it led us to believe that Toga quite simply murders not only for Stain’s sake but also because she likes to murder men she finds hot and attractive and that’s literally the only thing Genocide Jack does. Their love for drinking blood and murdering hot boys is what makes these girls one in the same.

Shoto Todoroki as Sakuya Watanuki from Servamp

It’s been a good year or two since I’ve seen Servamp so please bear with me. In Servamp, the anime really emphasizes just how much Sakuya cherished his friendship with the protagonist: Mahiru. Shoto too has this deeply rooted relationship with Midoriya and Iida. So, due to abusive family problems in the past, Sakuya hates lying. It’d be completely understandable that Shoto would be heartbroken if any of his friends lie to him. Well, that’s what happened to Sakuya. Sakuya figured out that his best friend was lying to him and in response to such wanted one of two things: Sakuya wanted to either die or have his best friend dead. Now we all know that Shoto is kind of just living because he hasn’t died yet and that he really couldn’t care less if he died. That’s where I’ll end this comparison of similarities. Shoto would be heartbroken if Midoriya were to ever lie/betray him and would either go out and kill Midoriya in response or guilt trip Midoriya into killing Shoto himself.

Izuku Midoriya and Chrollo Lucilfer from Hunter x Hunter

Hold up, let me explain! Chollo is the gang leader of the widely feared Phantom Troupe in the world of Hunter x Hunter. Let’s make Midoriya a new backstory… Because All Might basically told Midoriya that he needs a quirk to make it as a hero and that Midoriya stood no chance in making it, Midoriya took his role model's words to heart and vowed to become the best villain there ever lived. All for One wants to help Midoriya with this goal and passes on All for One to the green haired boy whereas Midoriya can now steal quirks however he likes. Now, we all know that Midoriya is known to easily latch onto his friends and make lasting impressions on everyone around him (Yes the ‘friendship is my power’ ideal) and Chrollo made a gang consisting of members he trusts and cares for more than his own life. In my eyes, Midoriya would make a gang, he’d view and treat them just like family just like Chrollo did. Not to forget Chrollo and Midoriya really don’t give a damn about their own bodies and would gladly give up their lives if it meant their passing paid off towards a bigger goal. Since Chrollo and Midoriya have friendly welcoming exteriors, they’d use that to their advantage and trick those around them into either trusting them or doing their own bidding. They also are scary smart and love their books. That is my view on if Midoriya became a villain.

Shinsou Hitoshi as Light Yagami from Death Note

Alright, let’s just right into this since I’m sure some of you can understand where I’m coming from on this one. Shall we start with the backstory first? Shinsou all his life was told that with a quirk like his he’d never make it as a hero but a villain instead. What does Shinsou do? He truly wants to be a hero so he begins to train his quirk long and hard to the point that he can use his quirk without being in the presence of another(Like through phone calls or video chats). Shinsou tells those who do bad to kill themselves, will call up crime suspects and prisoners and do the same much like Light did in his own anime. Light was using his gift, the Death Note, to put criminals to rest. Light and Shinsou want to be the heroes of their own story by wiping the earth of evil. They are deceptive heartless jerks who will use their wits to make their dreams a reality.

Tokoyami Fumikage as Gekko Moriah from One Piece

I'm gonna point this out right now, besides Spandam, I can't fricking stand this guy in One Piece. His laugh is god damned annoying… Besides that, Tokoyami would be this towering Shadow Manipulator from the vast world of One Piece. Moriah's goal was pretty straight forward: to plunge the world into darkness and create an army of the undead. Basically saying, the darker it gets, the stronger he is and the same can be said about Tokoyami. Tokoyami would live in a world of total darkness if he had the choice and as a villain I can definitely see him working to the bone to bring the world into darkness. Now onto their powers… As stated above, Moriah is a shadow manipulator who also has his very own shadow doppelganger that has it's own conscience. If Moriah chooses, he can become incredibly big and strong by absorbing shadows. Much like Moriah, Tokoyami has his Dark Shadow that can gain titan strength and size if he absorbs too much darkness. If the world is ever plunged into darkness, I blame Tokoyami.

Denki Kaminari as Absalom from One Piece

Coming from the same arc as Tokoyami and Moriah in One Piece, Kaminari would be the perverted invisible frankenstein of One Piece. Oh my god… Like seriously the Thriller Bark Arc in One Piece was something else. Everybody turning to ash, disco zombies, Sanji becoming a penguin dog, singing skeletons, a power rangers rip off, like yeah name anything and it probably happened. Anyways, Absalom of One Piece was a pervert who coincidentally had an invisible devil fruit power which allowed him to peep in on girls in the shower if he so wanted to. Much like Absalom, I can definitely imagine Kaminari trading in his electric quirk for invisibility and run around peeping in on girls without them knowing. What Absalom's end goal was that he wanted the most beautiful bride (in which he stole Nami and everyone on the crew kept cracking jokes saying that she may be pretty but nobody would want her as a wife because of how bossy she is). Kaminari would in fact search for the most beautiful woman to call his bride and all he has to do is steal her. Don't get Absalom and Kaminari wrong though, getting the bride is just the first obstacle. After marriage, they plan to treat their women right! So, Kaminari is a villain but also not.

Tenya Iida as Suzaku Kururugi from Code Geass

Ah finally... We have a revenge driven antagonist. As we all know, Iida did in fact turn villain in the anime but was quickly turned around. He wanted to murder a serial killer because said Killer nearly killed his brother. (Before anyone says anything, Tensei is still alive in the manga.) In Code Geass, Suzaku had an unshakable loyalty to Britannia as he was a soldier/white knight who fought against his best friend's rebellion. For the longest time, Suzaku was fine with what Zero(Lelouch/His best friend) was doing until Zero accidentally killed off Suzaku's love interest. After that, Suzaku was out to kill Zero/Lelouch even if it meant dying in the process. Iida too has scary strong respect for the rules and loyalty to others. Iida too is a white knight who was out for blood and revenge after the Hero Killer nearly killed his brother. Poor Iida, but Suzaku can fuck off in my eyes.

Which Antagonist Pairing do you like/agree with the most? I know I loved this update. I've been steadily adding to this update for over a month.
