Distraction: Iida x Neko Reader
Requested by LillyRaven210 who found the Hunter x Hunter reference in Memories of Flames: Shinsou x Reader
I've decided that I'm not gonna finish let alone update Fleet Enmity for a long long time. I've lost my interest in the book BUT if you want a brief explanation of the Reader's past and connection to the League of Villains then go ahead and read this.
No prior knowledge of that book is required to understand and enjoy this oneshot and doubles as a 2nd part to Kitten: Iida x Reader.
Iida stood before the door to your room. He couldn't motivate himself to enter even after Uraraka persuaded him that trespassing was just fine. At this point, bargaining became involved...
"I don't know... Even when (Y/n) is missing it still feels wrong to search her room," was Iida's last line of defense.
The brunette threw her head back. "Quit being so chivalrous and come on!" Uraraka lashed out and dragged your dearly beloved boyfriend into the room that was marked as your own. Everything was just the way it was the last time they were in there. The bed was made, your scratching posts were torn apart as usual, the desk was cluttered. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Your best friends took the time to carefully search the room for clues as to your whereabouts. A planner or note or even your cell phone would suffice. Iida carefully combed through the piles of papers upon your desk, most of them homework or plans for clothes you wanted to create. A black notebook, worn in and clawed up at the corners, stood out beneath a stack. It found Iida's hands and became opened up as most books were created to do. The whole book consisted of fifty different variations of goodbye letters, one on each page.
"Uraraka..." Iida's heart pained as he skimmed each letter. Each one glossing over the same or similar subjects. "Please come here Uraraka... I think (Y/n) ran away." Finally, after two days of searching for wherever you went, it became notable that you've ran away
"Ran... Away?" The brunette came over with reluctance. She doesn't want to know why her best friend would leave so suddenly.
Iida continued to read each note, one even more disheartening than the last. Uraraka read to the best of her ability from over his shoulder. While the pages were goodbye letters, they also acted as a log for the short time you've been at UA. Some notes consisted of specific events that's happened since your enrollment while others were extremely vague and only pinpointed your dire need to leave the world of heroes.
One note spoke of your first night within the UA dorms. You were a new transfer student, and half of the class didn't want you to share the classroom with them since you've immediately taken the top spot in the class. You wanted to leave UA that very night after being crowned the outcast.
Another note spoke of your past school experiences that consisted of only the bullying you've endured and how UA wasn't that much better.
The most recent event written in blue ink was located within the very last page and dated from two days ago. Two days ago, Iida invited you to his home for dinner with his family since he finally gained the courage to ask for you to be his girlfriend. His pro hero brother, Tensei, recognized you as a villain he apprehended a few years back to be the League of Villains pet cat that obeyed their every order. Tensei left the subject alone afterwards seeing as to how you're a changed person. That was all Iida was aware of after that day.
However, after reading on, Iida found out more about you, and more than he wished to know.
Apparently, you only obeyed the League's every order since they brought you back from the dead after a freak accident. When Tensei apprehended you, you were thrilled to be taken away from the League. You began to live a peaceful life and went to school. You wrote in there about how you thought Iida didn't like you anymore for being a villain in the past. That's where the note left off, as if suddenly interrupted. Coincidentally, you went missing the night after you had dinner with Iida's family.
"Did she run away be... Because of me?" Iida closed up the notebook and Uraraka took it into her possession to have a turn. Iida liked you for the quirky cat girl that you were. He loved it when you'd wear his uniform jacket, it'd be too big on you and the sleeves overlapped your hands. It was adorable when your cat like behaviors would kick in and you'd get all clingy. He loved how your feline tail would wrap around his arms and waistline in flirtatious ways.
There was nothing Iida didn't enjoy about you even after learning about your villainous history.
Iida paced about the room, his mind was running wild just wondering what could've became of you. "I have to go find (Y/n)..." He determined his new goal. "This... This is a big misunderstanding,"
"I agree," Uraraka sat down the notebook after reading enough of your painful history. "Where would she go? The note never said where she'd be."
"I don't know... I'll go ask Tensei if he knows anything," Iida came to a logical conclusion as Uraraka closely followed his lead.

There was a faint beeping, and it originated from the electromagnet collar that was latched around your neck. A man whose green eyes could illuminate the dark had you on a chained leash that never left his gloved hands. You had no idea who this dark man was or what his intentions were, but this collar he forced upon you came with a warning. "Try to take it off and you'll be saying bye bye!" You're a bomb waiting to go off, and there was nothing you could do about it. This man clad in leather hasn't said a thing since he forced it upon your being besides "follow" and your feet shuffled to follow. Your obedience is almost impossible to break and you curse ever following him cause when he opened the door to an abandoned warehouse, you weren't prepared for what was on the other side.
It was your first family; a group of misfits and outcasts with one goal in mind: to get rid of all heroes. They took you in after a brush with death many years ago, they're the reason there's pointed ears on your head and a slim bouncing tail at your behind. You're appreciative for everything they've done for you, but... Your heart wasn't made to do evil.
The man dragged you to the middle of the warehouse by the rusted chain leash. Just cause he wanted to express his dominance, he yanked on the leash like a whip! The pain was enough to cause your body to fold on itself and tumble to remain on the floor with your head hung low.
"Ah... There she is," Shigaraki closed in and removed the grey decapitated hand from his face as he knelt down. Although his face wasn't all that much more comforting than his hand, it was strangely... Calming. He has been there for you the longest.
"Where have you been all this time?" Shigaraki asked of you with a faint annoyance laced into his scratchy voice. He's went through a grand number of hunters in order to find you.
"She's been attending UA and it wasn't easy getting her out of there," your handler informed Shigaraki and flashed your student profile from the screen of his phone.
Shigaraki's piercing red eyes snapped at the man. "Did I ask you?" Your handler backed off, holding up his hands in surrender. "I appreciate you bringing back my pet, however..." Shigaraki stood up and held out one of his true hands. "You disrespected not only her but myself. Didn't I say that if I found a scratch on her you'd be dead?"
"You hired a hitman for a kidnapping job. You should've known this," the man stood his ground. "Now just pay me and I'll be on my way."
Shigaraki shook his head, grabbing the man by the wrist. You forced yourself to look elsewhere from the horrific display as the man disintegrated from existence.
"Iida... I don't want to be here..."

After a long confrontation with the Former Pro Hero Ingenium, Iida and Uraraka had set out to a coastal ship yard. Large steel boxes were stacked upon one another and an even larger tin plated warehouse stood tall in the distance. This shipyard has been abandoned ever since another company bought it out and only use it within the busy season. The setting sure was ominous with a heavy fog.
"But if your brother caught (Y/n) in this warehouse years ago, would she really come back?" Uraraka began having her doubts seeing that the Warehouse was in use at the moment. The windows were illuminated behind heavy sheets of dust.
"We can always try," Iida sighed. His chest was ringing with a numbing pain. "I gotta make things right."
"Then let's go in," Uraraka peered in through the doorless entryway to the warehouse. Through the dimmed yellowed lighting, the place was filled with more steel containment boxes. The middle of the warehouse was next to empty where a group of shady individuals stood circled around a girl who sat on the floor with her head hung low. She had a UA uniform on, tattered, and feline features. "(Y/n)'s here!" Uraraka exclaimed but Iida forced his hand to her mouth and ran away suddenly.
Once Iida took shelter behind a containment unit, Uraraka licked his palm and he pulled back in disgust. "Hey!" The brunette cried. "What was that for?"
"The League of Villains were in there with her..." Iida frowned realizing that you ran away in order to rejoin the side of evil.
"How do you know that?" Uraraka tilted her head.
"When Bakugou got kidnapped... I recognize them from when I helped Midoriya and the others save him. They're bad dangerous people..."
"No..." Uraraka whimpered. "But (Y/n) look so upset in there. I don't think she came here by choice. Her notebook claimed she didn't want anything to do with them anymore." Unless the whole notebook was created in order to take the attention away from the real problem.
"I-I know!" Iida stroked his chin. "Safe to say they won't hurt her, but how do we help?" A warehouse full of dangerous villains who murder for a lifetime versus two heroes in training. Theres no easy conclusion here.
"Oh I know!" Uraraka jumped. "I'll cause a distraction, you run in there, scoop her up, and get out of there!!! Sounds easy right? Its works in all the movies." Lion King, Moana, Guardians of the Galaxy, Jumanji just to name a few.
"No," Iida straightened himself out and pocketed his glasses. The plan sounded next to fool proof. "Since I can outrun everyone, I'll cause the distraction and you save her. If everyone was chasing you you'd surely get caught."
"Are you sure?" Uraraka gasped. So heroic!!!
"Just make sure my Kitten is safe..."
"You're quite mellow for a wild cat," Dabi stroked the top of your head and purposely pulled at the tips of your ears in order to elicit some sort of response. "Come on Kitten... You're no fun. Do something interesting instead of sitting there like a lazy shit."
"Quit pulling my ears," you batted his scarred hands away.
"No," the boy hits you in the back of the head. "I don't think I will."
"You have my permission to kill him Kitten," Shigaraki suggested.
"I'm not trying anything until you get the bomb off my neck..." The beeping of the collar was etched into your ears.
"But you just had to kill the guy who put it on her," Dabi snapped at Shigaraki.
"At this rate I'll take the honor of killing you myself," Shigaraki narrowed his gaze at the man of blue flames. Instead, his chapped finger traced the back of your neck, destroying the bomb rigged collar for good.
"Somebody save me..." You pressed hands to your ears as the boys continued to bicker.
"Excuse me everyone but I have a question to ask of you all!" Everyone's head shot in the direction of the foreign voice.
Although you barely heard the boy, you could recognize that voice from anywhere. "Iida..." You smiled faintly seeing your man stand there with his heartful smile.
"Who are you?" Shigaraki asked a little puzzled. "Unless you're the guy Overhaul sent over, get lost."
"I'm a robot! See?" Your boyfriend began moving his arms and legs in clunky transitions and weird angles. For once, his constant gesturing came in handy!
"How'd you find this place?" Mr. Compress stepped forward.
"The same way I got here... By doing the Robot!" Iida began to dance even slower, his right arm dangled all limp while the other arm batted it.
"Get him!" Shigaraki demanded. Everyone except him within the warehouse ran after Iida and was hopelessly falling behind as Iida left them biting the dust but came back every few seconds like a tease.
Too distracted, you barely registered that there was a tap at your shoulder. You turned, finding your brunette best friend. "Ochako?" You smiled ear to ear.
"Let's get out of here," she whispered. Shigaraki was only a few feet away. You nodded, crawling away in silence on all fours.
"Hey!" Shigaraki spun around as he caught movement out of the corner of his eye.
"Run!!!" You both ran away, just barely escaping without another soul knowing. Iida had caught up with you both, throwing the two of you over his shoulders and kept running until he made it back to UA.
The second he sat you down, you were a crying mess. "Th-Thank you for saving me..." You wept.
"Dont you ever think that I hate you (Y/n). I've always loved you for who you are, not who you used to be," he dried the tears that stained your cheeks with his thumb.
"I'm confused..." What is he talking about?
"I read your notebook full of... Farewell letters I guess. You wrote about how you thought I didn't like you anymore because you used to be a villain but it's the exact opposite."
"No wonder how you knew where to find me..." Iida knew everything. Every secret, every detail, every insecurity you had.
"Don't ever run away again," Iida caressed your cheek.
"I-I didn't! I was kidnapped." You squeaked. "I was walking around to get my mind off your brother. Then... Then a man cornered me, brought up Shigaraki, and put a bomb around my neck... I had no choice in the matter. I would've ran like you if I could."
"So you didn't run away because of me?" Iida had to make sure.
"Everything I write in that notebook... Its how I vent. Its keeps me from actually doing anything bad. Don't ever take anything I write in there to heart."
"Looks like you need a bigger book then," Iida chuckled.
"I'm sorry I made you worry."
"Don't apologize. I'm happy to have you back," Iida ruffled your hair playfully and your tail bounced around in joy.
