Demons: Bakugou x Reader Part 1

Day 4 of x Reader Week.
Inspiration for this x Reader comes from the WebToon Ghost Wife. AND... I keep treating one and two parters on this book like chapter books so I keep unintentionally going all out on them and ended up deleting a good 1/4 of this cause it was unnecessary.

Katsuki Bakugou, the King of Explosions. Although very few came to like his personality, everyone respected him almost more than themselves. He had a dream, and quite an ambitious one too. Most who dream of becoming a hero settle for the dream of just quite simply becoming one. Nope, not Bakugou. He wanted to become number one and he was making his presence known to all! Bakugou is and remains at the top of his class, won first place in the sports festival and was one of very few who had All Might’s praise. Too bad that dream of his is now out of reach. The entire school was silenced when Bakugou’s breath exhausted for good. Only the memories of this explosive blonde remained. He died a hero, and a hero he shall remain as  Bakugou took himself and a villain out of the equation simultaneously that very day.

Bakugou learned first hand that death is an entirely different world than that of the living. Yet, all so very similar. The realm of the dead is an overlay of the living, riddled in darkness and nightmares that the eyes of most humans refuse to see. Everyone’s true natures will show, and the living have no idea that they could be standing next to a demon or be tailed by one. Even in death, Bakugou continues to fight his own demons despite being one himself. He refuses to lower himself to nothing! To trash he means. Demons are scum beneath his shoes in his eyes. The stronger willed you were in the living determines how strong you are in death. Bakugou stands high on the power scale. Bakugou couldn’t care less about his position of power, he’s still pissed off to have died in the first place and thrives to become human once again even if it means embracing his demonic side.

Bakugou’s black claws distended, they sheared through the rubbery flesh of demons and ghosts alike. A cloud of black laying low within the air had meant their true demise. The smoke would flood Bakugou’s nostrils, thick almost sweet in smell, well… To him at least. Bakugou longed for the moment he could slain another demon as their remains reminded Bakugou of when he was living. His explosion quirk had this distinctly sweet yet ashy smell he had came to love yet dearly miss now as killing the demons was his perfect alternative. Addicted. That’s what he was. Even among a society of demons and spirits, they disapprove of his dark behavior. “Are you satisfied? You sick fuck…” A teenage demon, much like Bakugou, stepped before the blonde with a hand outstretched behind himself to scratch his neck. His eyes were gold and sharp, like a snake, as they honed in on Bakugou’s demonic form. His stringy black hair clouded his face adverting some of his sight.

Who is this demon you may ask? He’s Bakugou’s demon and he doesn’t have a name anymore. Demons don’t carry their living names into the afterlife, therefore this demon didn’t have a name of his own. If you don’t have a name, Bakugou would surely give you one. “Snake Bastard,” Bakugou seethed with a rudy red gaze. “Not like anybody cared about those pests anyways…”

Much like his name suggests, Snake’s forked tongue slipped out from between his lips and hissed. “They’re trying to get by… Just like the rest of us.”

“You do you and I’ll do me,” Bakugou’s hands were grotesquely malformed to that of a monster’s even as he flashed Snake the birdie.

“For how much of a monster you are, it’s a surprise how you’re still able to wear human skin.” Snake’s appearance remained more human than most demons despite his many small reptilian characteristics being a newcomer and all. He’s been here as long as Bakugou and he’s never seen a new resident of the dead transform as fast as Bakugou was. Snake even dragged his tongue over his canines to make sure his weren’t as large as Bakugou’s. Thankfully, they weren’t while Bakugou was borderline vampire with fangs like those.

“Fuck off,” Bakugou allowed his hands to return to normal just to annoy his rival ever more. “Don’t you have better things to do?”

“Point made,” Snake tuts. “The same can be said about you too…”

A growl rattled Bakugou’s chest, “the fuck you saying?”

Snake peered behind himself before taking a seat atop a closed dumpster and pulled a knee to his chest. “You need to accept that you’re dead Katsuki,” Snake looked down on the demon. “Hunting your own kind will only make the barrier between yourself and the living far greater. You want your old life back right? Since we disgust you so much,” hence the blackened pile of remains that Bakugou carelessly stood within. “Do yourself- Scratch that! Everyone a favor and possess another human or anchor yourself to one. At least then the humans will have a share in your damned nonsense instead of me...”

“And what good would that do me?” Bakugou spits. “I fucking hated everyone when I was living! They’re all annoying bastards! Especially Shitty Hair and Dunce face-”

“There had to be someone you remotely liked,” Snake crossed his arms. Everybody has that one person be it a parent, sibling, relative or friend. “You’re such a terror in the realm of the dead that I’m about to force my hand.”

"Try me," Bakugou grimaced. "I want my old life back, that means my body too. I'm not possessing some dumbass loser or following one!"

“Anchor yourself to someone and you’ll be able to jump between our realm and theirs.”

“Still doesn’t change the fact that I’m dead Smart Ass!!!”

"Okay…" Snake, fed up with Bakugou’s selfish behavior, dropped down to his feet. His dominant hand darkened in color and his nails sharpened like claws. Blackened scales began to texturize his skin. "You may have killed us both the first time, but I'll make sure to complete the job this time around…"

-----

"Let's get ice cream!!!" Ashido was standing with her jaw hitting the ground in a drooling mess before the window to an ice cream shop. A long line of family after family stood within to get a taste of sweetness. The children had their faces pressed up against the viewing window all to gape and gawk over which flavor of creamy goodness to get. It was all so captivating!

"I'm broke Ashido…" You sighed. Ice cream really does sound good right now.

"It's late," Momo ushered you all to move on. "Sweets this late at night isn't such a good idea."

"We gotta get back to campus before curfew anyways…" Jiro agreed with the ravenette.

"A little sugar won't hurt!" Uraraka joined in with Ashido's senseless begging. "Please please please!!!" The girls begged in unison.

"Alright," Momo gave in and bought everyone a cold treat from the shop. You wanted to buy your own but it got Momo into her 'smart girl' mood where all she does is talk about the economy and how the rich, including herself, have too high of a percentage of the country's currency and yadda yadda ya… Your mind turned into mush listening to her ramble that you're just gonna let Momo pay.

The five of you ate the treats merrily on the way home to campus. While other things in the city was captivating, a strong will persuades you all to suck it up and head home. What’s one thing a strong will can’t do? Ignore kittens!!! Nobody knows where they came from but gosh darn it they were cute as hell! They were crying for attention, meowing loudly as if they were screaming bloody murder and it wasn’t until Uraraka began petting one that they began to calm down.

A perky little boy with yellow-orange fur began rubbing its entire body across your legs again and again as it was determined to earn your attention. With each swipe, its tail clung to the backs of your knees. Of course you had no choice but to cave in. "You guys think we can get Aizawa to adopt one of them?" You awed verbally and knelt down to pet the small being. It cherished your touch, melting into the form of your hand. Only for the pesky cat to meow and nip at you. It bit you, hard on the palm. You gasped, almost instinctively jumping backwards, retracting your hand as it bled like a river. The cat came right back like a boomerang. You’re aware of his dirty tricks and hesitated to even pay it any mind. So you didn’t even acknowledge him. He used your legs as a scratching post, bit your pants too. Till finally, you gave in once again for the being bit you on the sleeve and began to tug you in a direction desperately as if it wanted you to follow. Maybe this was his intention all along? Cats normally hate people so why would it lead someone let alone you somewhere? Well, it must be that bad. The girls paid no mind to you as you followed the cat blindly. It was winding through alleys and down a sidewalk only to corner into another small alleyway. The cat had let you go and ran behind a large metallic dumpster that was taller than yourself.

Your blood ran cold at the sight of a pale hand lying upon the ground before said dumpster. That cat from before rubbed its body into the hand and mewled as to call you over. "Someone needs help?" Nevermind your bloody hand, You're amazed that a cat had successfully gotten your attention to help whoever was hurt. Whoever it was could be dead for all you know. With no time to lose you ran over to the cat to find a teenage boy, gravely injured, lying face down upon the ground in a pool of black. Black? It was dark out, but you could see the red of your own blood so how can someone bleed black? Even this guy was wearing all black and they were tattered in claw marks, some long some short, as was his skin where the black substance oozed. However, the boy's condition wasn't what surprised you, it was who it was. You can't mistake that head of hair for anyone else.

You pressed a hand to your mouth and lay a shaken hand upon the boy's back. There was a faint warmth, but the lack of it was alarming. Quickly you rolled him over and gasped, that face too… "Bakugou?" The cat meowed sweetly as to confirm your assumption. "Bakugou…" You stared at the males face as the cat confirmed your question once again. Bakugou was pale, tired, pained yet also strangely inhuman. His teeth were sharp, ears pointed too. Why is he different? "I went to your funeral… H-How are you here?" A tear fled from your eye as you completely ignored everything you once thought. He’s here, alive, that’s all you could think as you began to cradle this near lifeless body into your arms. "H-hang in there Bakugou. Don't die on me again…"

Snake watched from the sidelines, seeing as to how you possessed the gift to see. He curses it too as he wanted his rival to suffer a painful death. “Look on the bright side,” Snake smirked with a reptilian hiss as demons from all over began to take to his side. “Now we can finally get some peace around here…”

Look forward to part 2 AFTER x Reader Week.
