Carry On: Aizawa x Child Reader

A long day it was...

A long day it was...

Shouta Aizawa never planned to adopt a child today but here he was cradling a young girl fast asleep in his arms. She had her head rested upon one of his shoulders for comfort like a pillow with dangling legs as Shouta could only support her behind. It killed him how she could sleep so peacefully at a time like this. His heart has been torn to shreds and cried so many buckets the overflow of tears began to show in his own cold grey eyes. Children are young and innocent though, no sense in ruining such a treasure by bothering to explain the true meaning behind his broken heart...

To return to the Class 1.A. Dormitory felt as if Shouta had walked a million miles. Time was moving slower, as did life as if everything was going through slow motion. Shouta could see each individual flap of a crow's wings as it flew overhead when he normally couldn't. All color too, even the most vibrant, seemed to dull into a state of bland. Upon opening the door to the dormitory, Shouta's class of many colors and personalities came off as dull and ordinary.

Shinsou Hitoshi, Shouta's apprentice, has been waiting for his return for a few hours now. Upon viewing his Mentor enter the premises, he stood up from his chair within the kitchen and came to Shouta hurriedly to begin his training. "Master I've been waiting for you-" However, the sight of the little girl embraced to his chest had Shinsou questioning just where exactly Shouta has been. Upon further inspection, Shouta's eyes were red, puffy and tired as if he's been crying his eyes out. "A-Aizawa... Are you feeling okay? Is there anything I can do for you?" Forget the training, Aizawa is visually in need of support of any kind.

"Can you watch over (Y/n) for a while?" Shouta rubbed your backside gently with a long overbearing sigh.

"Yes," Shinsou held out his arms. "May I ask who she is?"

Aizawa gently nodded his head and peeled your clingy limbs from his chest. For a little girl, you sure had a death grip of a hold on him. Shinsou helped him out by manually unlatching your legs that were wrapped around the older male's backside. You threw a small half awake fit upon removal, but returned to normal as you gave Shinsou the same treatment. Shouta ran a hand through his hair and sighed once again. "That's my niece... (Y/n)," Shouta began. "My sister, her mother, passed away yesterday as a result of protecting the public as a hero..."

"I'm so sorry sir..." Shinsou couldn't help but embrace you as he felt truly sorry for your loss.

Most if not all of the class gathered around their teacher. "Well... I'm (Y/n)'s only remaining relative and I would never allow her to be put into the adoption system. She... She doesn't understand the concept of death and I don't have the heart to explain it to her-"

"We understand Mr. Aizawa," Iida spoke up all the while removing his glasses to wipe away a few of his own stray tears.

"We'll watch over her *ribbit*," Tsu frowned.

"I wish to be left alone..." Shouta pressed a hand to one of his eyes. "I'm sure you all can respect that wish."

"Of course," Momo even found her own self beginning to tear up. She's never seen her teacher in this much pain emotionally.

Shouta nods briefly, "Thank you..." The man trudged himself off to his bedroom to most likely sleep his feelings away for the next week. The man is mourning the death of his sister who apparently was the last family he had besides his niece now daughter. Shouta wasn't all that close to his own sister, although he deeply regrets not being closer to her than he was with her being gone now. It pained him even more to be one of the last people notified of her passing. However, Shouta always made sure to visit you on more than just special occasions because he adores you more than his own pet cat. His sister would always tell him he'd make a great father and that he should look into having kids of his own. Of course he'd always ignore her or tell her that he's married to his job and that his students was the closest he'd get to having children.

But Shouta never wanted to become a father this way...

Tsu and Momo had set up a comfy place on the couch just for you to sleep. The most fluffiest pillow and a soft plush blanket to cover your body. Shinsou thanked the girls but just as he tried to lie you down, your boa constrictor hold upon his body tightened little by little the more he fought your restrictions. He had to settle with allowing his mentor's niece use his body as a human bed for as long as need be. Luckily that time came around sooner than he could've ever dreamed. Almost half an hour in counting, your sleepy little body began to stir. Your youthful (e/c) eyes fluttered open to view Shinsou's puzzled features closer than he was comfortable with.

Your left hand shakily rose up before Shinsou's face, your index finger prodded his pale cheeks. The skin of his face bunched up with your action and squished his mouth into a comical sight. "Did Uncle Shouta have a kid and never told me?" You pressed your other hand to the opposite cheek. Shinsou, now even more dazed than before, gave an alarmed pleading look at a few students of class 1. A. in hopes that they'd come to his rescue. They only snickered at him just watching as your limbs squished and pulled at his face. It was all to rearrange Shinsou's face as you were in disbelief that he looks like the spitting image of your uncle. "What's your name new big brother?" You've finally registered that this lavender haired boy was the spitting image of your Uncle.

Shinsou choked at that question, "I'm not your Uncle's son nor am I your brother-"

"But you look just like him!" You pushed on the subject just like any bothersome child would.

"I get that a lot..." Shinsou sighed. He carefully wrapped an arm around your back and behind to set you off to the side. Anything was preferable as long as you were sitting on him. Shinsou hasn't ever really made an attempt to like children to say the least. Shinsou saw that you felt so out of place atop the couch, you were so tiny compared to the cushion. No, you came off to be so vulnerable to the elements and now he feels horrible for ripping you away from his body after you clung so desperately to it for so long. He almost offered up that you could sit in his lap again, but instead his eyes flickered over to the sherpa blanket Momo conjured up earlier. "Want a blanket (Y/n)?" Shinsou loosely laid a hand over it. Blankets are meant for snug warmth like a hug, like protection.

You nodded your head, "yes... Yes please."

"I haven't met a child as well mannered as you," Shinsou complimented while you grew all bashful with rosy cheeks to his words. You even gave him a small excited dance, a teeter tottering movement, upon receiving the blanket. "So (Y/n)... What exactly do you know about everything? Why you're here, who we are?" Shouta mentioned that you didn't understand the concept of death upon entering the dormitory. It leads Shinsou to wonder what exactly you think is happening as of now. He's sure you're going to wonder where your true parents are.

You rocked back and forth within the blanket. "Uncle Shouta told me that Mommy's gone and that he's my new dad. Which is weird because I never met my dad... Does that mean Shouta and Mommy will live together and be married? I wanna be the flower girly girl," Shinsou began to mentally facepalm. Some of the classmates actually facepalmed though; the sounds of slapping began to echo within the room. Everything you just said was not only inappropriate, brother and sister can't get married, and that you really don't understand the concept of death.

"Oh god how should I put this?" Shinsou dragged a hand down his face.

"Shinsou..." Momo spoke up, "I don't think we should explain death to her."

"Y-Yeah," Midoriya stepped forward. "Keep her innocent."

"Somebody has to explain to her why her mom..." Shinsou found just speaking of the subject is difficult.

You sat forwards, "my mom is what?"

"That..." Shinsou made one last quick needful search around the room. He was searching for a guiding answer as to if he should dance around the subject or go ahead and explain death to you. There were many conflicting nods and shakes of the head from just about everyone. Shouta tried to explain death to you already, might as well try to finish the job he started. "(Y/n)..." Shinsou stared into your curious gaze. "Your mother is never coming back..."

Your shoulders slumped, "Like daddy?"

Shinsou shook his head, "just like him..."

"Why would she leave me?" You began to tear up, wiping the tears into the blanket.

"You know when people move away or leave a room? You can't see them, but you'll somehow someway see them again be it a videochat, a picture, or seeing them in person," you full and well understood what Shinsou just explained. You almost always videochat Shouta before you head to bed each night. Therefore, you nod your head with a disgusted sniffle of your snotty nose. "Well... Your mother didn't just go away. She died. People who die, normally don't get the choice to die. They die of old age, sickness, suicide, or even when someone takes their life. And when people die, they never come back."

"Where do they go?" Your lip quivered.

"Well..." Shinsou grinned slightly. "Depending on how good or bad they were... They'll float up into the sky like angels or a bird. They'll live a second life up there where they await those they loved in this life and never grow old," everything came full circle and you weren't crying anymore. Instead, you were beaming with energy and wiping up your nose into the blanket. Tsu came around and gave you a tissue or two.

You blew your nose hurriedly, "Mommy was a hero!" You jumped up to your feet. "She saved a hundred million billion people! She's an angel now and she's watching over me," you hopped off the couch and scrambled for the open window. You were too short for it, hopping up and down to reach the ledge. Of all people to come help, it was Bakugou who came over and picked you up to better view the window. "HELLO MOMMY!!! I HOPE YOU CAN SEE ME!!!" You giggled all the while waving into the night sky. Everyone began to laugh merrily

Suddenly, you grew upset. "Hey Mister... Can I please be on the ground again?" Bakugou didn't question you and sat you upon your feet carefully. "Why's Shouta sad? Is he sad that he never get to see mommy again? I wanna give him a hug..."

"Y-Yes," Midoriya stuttered.

"He's a very sad man right now *ribbit*," Tsu frowned.

"Did you just ribbit?" You tilted your head off to the side only to shake it violently. "No, no, can I make Shouta feel better?"

"Why not?" Shinsou assumed.

"I wanna hug my sad uncle-I mean daddy," you jumped in place.

"Okay *ribbit* I'll take you to him," Tsu held out her hand to you. You took it and dragged her in a nonsense of directions. Eventually, Tsu managed to persuade you to play a game of follow the leader in which you finally chilled out enough to actually reach his bedroom. Tsu had cracked open the door and allowed you inside. Then off she went because this matter is yours and your uncle's doing.

The room was dark, nearly pitch black besides the computer screen off into a corner of the room. It was on a screensaver of a random stray cat Shouta feeds on a daily basis. Shouta however, was laid down upon his side within the bed. He was still wearing his pro hero uniform, even neglecting to take off his boots. Shouta made an irritated groan, "Whoever it is, get out!" He barked and you gasped. "I thought I was clear when I told everyone I wanted to be alone..."

"Even me?" You sang, fiddling with your hands.

Shouta, astonished, rolled over within the bed and stared at you. "(Y/n) I think you should be playing with Shinsou and-"

"But you're sad," you began to pout. "I was sad too until Shinsou told me that Mommy is watching over me and then a hedgehog boy held me up to the window so that I can say hi to her. Do you wanna say hi to her?" Before Shouta could answer, you bolted around the bed and whipped the curtains open. The moon's blue gleam filled the room, ultimately hurting Shouta's eyes. You kept waving at the window, waving hello to your mother. When Shouta's hadn't made any attempts to move, you ran over and pulled on his arm. "Cheer up Daddy Shouta... I don't want a sad uncle-daddy..."

"Well," Shouta finally sat up within the bed. You were still tugging on his arm, so he tugged you back in return. He scooped you up, and hugged you tightly. You were a giggling mess! "I'm still sad... But you always put a smile on my face no matter the occasion."

"No," you wiggle out of the hug to pat his cheek. "Not good enough. I need a happy daddy even when I'm not around. Say hi to mommy before I leave you for your look alike!"

"Oh you're threatening me now," Shouta snickers. He got up with you in his arms and went over to the window. Together, you both waved at the moon. Little by little, he truly understood what you meant by saying hi to mommy. It was your way of saying, she's not gone but instead always watching over you both. Why grieve over the time he lost with his sister, when he can remember the good times and live life now?

"So... You keep calling me dad," Shouta brought up all on his own.

Your eyes began to glitter, "well you're my new dad right?" You quickly made your lips hover before his ear. "I always thought of you as my dad anyways..." You whispered.

"And you're why I haven't had kids yet," Shouta pressed his forehead to yours. "You're the most wonderful thing to have happened to me."
