Your POV
As the sounds of pots and pans clank together, I hum a small tune to myself. The delicious smell of chicken frying away in soy sauce, sesame oil and five spice wafting around the kitchen as I prepare dinner for this evening. I can't help but hush the sound of my stomach whining when the smell slides into my nose to taunt me. My hair tucked back into a high ponytail as I boil a nest or so of noodles in salted and oiled water while I begin to chop up the vegetables on one of the many chopping boards we have in the kitchen.
With dinner just around the corner and my boyfriends shift ending soon, I decided to make a quick start on dinner so my boyfriend didn't have to wait a while for dinner. He works so hard and he does so much for the both of us that I just have to help him out in anyway that I can (even if he tries to refuse my help at first).
Since he often eats a lot of protein heavy meals due to his work and lifestyle, I decided to rein it in a little bit and make a simple but hearty dish that I know he'll love. It's a noodle dish, something I found while flicking through my social media, that I thought would be something that Tamaki would absolutely adore. It's chicken and garlic noodles. Something that I used to have as a child, actually, and I've always wanted to make it for Tamaki!
And now I am!
As I add some sesame seeds to the little sauce I'm making to add the noodles to, I slide some cloves of garlic in as well accompanied by sesame oil, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, five spice and chilli flakes (to give it that little kick). The thinly sliced carrots, spring onions, mushrooms and bok choy already beginning to fry away away alongside the chicken to make a little mini stir fry.
In the background, serving as background music, spoke the tv. I had the hero channel on, like I always did, whenever my boyfriend was out on patrol so I could have the chance to see him in action. To watch him take down villains like I know he can instead of him putting himself down all the time because he doesn't think he's strong enough to do so.
When he really is. He's the strongest hero I know and I'll always tell him that whenever I can. I am his biggest cheerleader, after all.
As everything boils and fries away, I lean against the kitchen counter and look toward the cork board pinned to the wall. The board full of many photographs of my boyfriend and I alongside our two closest friends as well as my boyfriends boss and other colleague. The sweet little nervous smile on his face making my heart melt time and time again whenever I look at it. The blush on his cheeks whenever I hold his hands making my heart skip a beat.
"We're coming live from the Fukuoka prefecture where Fat Gum and his two sidekicks Suneater and Red Riot are on the scene!" The tv screams out which catches my attention, a small giddy smile on my lips as I head toward the living room to see what's going on, "Fat Gum and his sidekicks were on pursuit and are now in a stand off with the bank robbers!"
Tucking a strand of hair behind my ear, I lean against the doorway of the kitchen with a faint sweet smile on my lips. My hands clasped together and held at my chest as I rest my head against the wooden frame of the kitchen doorway. Eyes rake over the television, filled with nothing but absolute pride and joy as I watch what's unfolding somewhere in our nearby prefecture. My heart swelling with love and pride as the camera pans out to show the whole scene, my smile morphing into a grin when I see him.
Tamaki Amajiki.
Tamaki Amajiki, hero name Suneater, is my lovely boyfriend. He's probably the most adorable person in the whole world that can also be classed as sexy whenever he wanted (especially when he's in his hero mode). He had gorgeous indigo locks that I love to tangle my fingers into whenever we kiss or whenever we sit on the couch with his head in my lap. He has those beautiful indigo eyes that I could look into for days yet, knowing him, he would go bright red and cover them embarrassed. He is just the definition of perfect to me...
On the tv, Tamaki had his tentacles out from eating his takoyaki. Wrapping them around the waists of the villains and throwing them across the way to prevent them from attacking him. A clam shell formed on his right hand while he had a chicken foot on his left food. The male focusing on defeating these villains and getting the job done. His eyes narrowing and his teeth gritting as he flips one of them over his back and he puts them down into an arm lock to allow a nearby policeman to handcuff them before he goes to the others.
Tamaki is often a completely different person when he's out fighting. He isn't the shy little bean that I often get to see, he's all confident and focused. He isn't second guessing himself and he always knows what to do in that situation. It's amazing to see him like this, sometimes.
It just means I get to see him in his cute moments!
Knowing that if I watch any more footage the food will burn, I head back into the kitchen to add the sauce in with the chicken and vegetables. A small smile on my lips as I stir it all together to let it all infuse before I drain the noodles and add them to the sauce. My eyes sparking with glee as the succulent smell of the dish splashes through the house. As I stir it all together, letting the sauce drench the noodles and letting the flavour seep in, the sound of the front door opening catches my attention.
"Something smells nice,"
Smiling gently to myself, I turn off the heat on the hob and turn around to see Tamaki. A giggle leaving my lips as I hold my arms out for him and let him snuggle into my arms. The male burying his face into the crook of my neck as I squeeze him close and kiss the side of his head in greeting. Both of us stay in our little cuddle for a small while, just rocking back and forth silently as we hold each other close. Tamaki's hands grabbing fistfuls of my blouse as he takes a deep breath before pulling away.
"Hi Tamaki, baby," I hum softly, tucking a strand of hair behind his elfish ears and kiss his nose making him clear his throat and rub the back of his neck with an awkward yet sweet smile, "Dinner's just about to be dished up, why don't you get into some comfy clothes while I set up the dining room?"
"Sounds good, it smells amazing," Tamaki says with a smile, kissing my forehead before he turns around on his heels and heads upstairs to our bedroom, "Make sure I have enough, I haven't eaten a lot today,"
"You should have said, I would have came to the agency with lunch," I called out, setting up the dining room before grabbing two bowls and some chopsticks. A small smile leaving my lips as Tamaki walks back downstairs clad in grey sweatpants and a loose white shirt, "You shouldn't have not eaten, Tama, you could have gotten hurt,"
"I was fine... You don't have to worry," He tells me gently, hugging me from behind as I divide the noodles into the bowls. The garlic noodles making Tamaki lick his lips in need as I lean into him, "Besides you were out with Nejire today and I didn't want to disturb you,"
"I'm sure Nejire wouldn't have minded," I hum, kissing his cheek before walking toward the dining room and setting the bowls down. The pair of us sitting in our respective chairs before digging into our meal, "I saw you on tv just earlier, you were amazing out there Tamaki,"
Said male blushes gently and sends me an awkward smile. His cheeks bright red as he avoids eye contact and clears his throat while shaking his head. The male refusing to take credit for something that he knows he should. I couldn't help but send him a reassuring smile as he rubs the back of his neck and bites his lip. How can someone be so cute?
"I — it's not like I was that amazing..." he mumbles, looking at the food as he fiddles around with it and plays with it, "Kirishima shone brighter than I ever could... and Fat always knows how to stand out... I couldn't be more hidden,"
"Tamaki, you're the best hero out there," I tell him, swallowing down another mouthful of noodles before lacing his hands with mine and tracing my thumb over his knuckles making him flush a bright red colour as he looks toward me, "You're amazing and you're so dedicated. You shine brighter than anyone I know,"
"Not brighter than Mirio..." He mumbles making me smile weakly and rub his back as he finishes his dinner, "Can we go cuddle? On the couch?"
Knowing that it's best to talk these things out, I nod gently and head toward the couch. Once I'm comfortably sat down, I pat my lap letting Tamaki lay down on the plush cushions of the couch with his head resting on my thighs. The male thanking me for the weighted blanket from underneath the coffee table as he begins to snuggle into the warmth of the blanket before taking a deep breath and looking up at me as I run my fingers through his indigo locks.
It's not a secret that Tamaki is very insecure and often puts himself down even when someone is praising him for amazing work. It's difficult, I'm not going to lie, it really is. When all I want is for him to be happy with himself, I know that it's hard for him to accept that. However, I know that whenever we're cuddling on the couch like we are now, that's as close as I can to get him happy with himself. The cuddles are always something that helps Tamaki.
"You know you don't have to be like Mirio or Kirishima, right?" I ask him softly, looking toward him as he sighs and looks toward the tv where Mirio and Deku are currently in a battle between a bunch of thugs, "They're completely different people and you're your own person, Tama,"
"But they're so much better," He says looking up at me, clearing his throat as I twirl strands of hair around my fingers, "They've always been bright... I... I'm not like that. They never have heavy expectations because they always know what to do... I always have so much expectations and I know I can't meet them,"
"You know you can't or you think you can't?" I ask softly, giggling weakly as he pouts toward me in his little adorable manner, "Tama, you should have seen how amazing you were when you fought earlier. You're were in the Big Three for a reason,"
"I don't know," he mumbles, fiddling with the hem of his blanket while I poke his little nose making him wriggle it, "I just... I don't want to let you down,"
"Oh Tama, you're gonna make me cry," I whine gently, smiling toward him as I take a deep breath and blink back the tears wanting to spill. What did I do to deserve this man? He's so sweet! My heart melting as he sends me a smile that only I get to see, his ears perking up gently, "You could never let me down, baby, you're the best hero in my eyes and you always will be,"
"Really?" He asks and smiles as I nod and kiss his nose making him scrunch it up playfully, "So you don't think Mirio or Kirishima are bright?"
"I think they're bright but in their own way, like you're bright in your own way Tama," I hum, letting his hair sprawl across my thighs as I clear my throat, "You're my Suneater, babe, you don't need to be bright to stand out,"
"Thank you, (Y/n)... you're the best,"...
"Not as amazing as you, Tama"...
"Jury's still out,"...
