Your POV
Humming softly, I push myself out from underneath the hoverboard I was working on, letting out a small sigh of relief as I sit up on the wheeled mat, grabbing the oil stained cloth as I wipe my face with the clean corner, wiping off all the grease that managed to spill onto my face while working. Standing to my feet, I throw the wrench into the tool box, slowly stretching with a groan as Mei, one of my best friends, sends me a smile, taking her goggles off her eyes, finishing her work on one of her recent inventions, some hover shoes that she was working on which she actually used in the UA Sports Festival.
Smiling back, I slide my goggles off my eyes, chucking them to the side as I lean against the wall, looking over my blueprints, humming softly while Mei peeks over my shoulder, a huge gleam in her eye, as she looks over them, casting an eye to the light blue hoverboard I'd been working on. It was rather functional, just a few tweaks out of perfection. It hovered, for about five minutes, until it slowly stutters out of control and crashes. I'd developed a remote, which Mei decided to tamper with, which should have controlled its movement but instead Mei made it so it could do rolls and loop - de - loops.
I couldn't stay mad at the salmon haired girl for long though, she always knew what to say to make me all happy and giggly again.
Mei and I go a long way back. To kindergarten years. Growing up together, we became the best of friends, often spending weekends round each other's places, having sleepovers monthly, there was never a birthday party of hers that I missed and vice versa. We were practically inseparable. Often helping each other with each other's inventions, giving each other inspiration. Always being there for each other regardless of how big and scary our opponents were.
"Why don't you just reprogram the data here?" She inquires, pointing toward the blueprints, "Wouldn't that help?"
"See, I've tried that already and reprogramming the remote means I'll have to reprogram the hoverboard and sync them up again," I explain, scratching my head, holding my hand on my hip, "Why do I always have to over complicate things?"
"That's why I'm here!" She cheers clapping her hands, "You'll have your own invention to call your baby soon enough, (Y/n),"
Nodding softly, I run my hand through my hair, biting my lip as I scan my eyes over the blueprints again, trying to find a loophole through it all or at least an easier way to sort this out and make my creation perfect. Mei rubs my arm softly before placing her goggles back on, resorting back to finalising one of her new 'babies', her constant muttering and squealing throwing me off.
A knock on the door cuts me off from my track of thought, a small whine leaving my lips as I trudge toward the door, trying to wipe off the grease staining the front of my overalls, before slowly opening the door, sending a small smile toward my teacher, Power Loader. Beside him, looking rather tired and annoyed, was a violet haired male, bags weighing down his eyes. He was rather attractive. Well, to be honest, he was smoking. His dark purple eyes barely looking my way as I send him a friendly yet bashful smile, rubbing the back of my neck. Wishing that I had at least put on my clean pair of overalls today.
"(L/n), this is Hitoshi Shinso," Power Loader begins gesturing toward the male, "He will be a new student in the hero course, I want you to do some improvements on his hero suit for him, are you up for that challenge?"
"Of course," I beam, sending him a lopsided smile, absolutely smitten with the guy, "If you could just hand me your suit, I'll see what I can do!"
"Here," Shinso bluntly says, thrusting the pile of clothes into my hands, chuckling as I fumble around making sure I don't drop it, "My quirk is brainwashing by the way,"
"Awesome!" I cheer before internally cringing
Why did I just do that?!
Sweat dropping, I wave goodbye to the violet haired dreamboat before shutting the door in Power Loader - Sensei's face. A huge red hue hugging at my cheeks. Behind me, as I turn around, was Mei, chasing a shriek from my lips, slamming my back into the door making her chuckle with an all knowing smirk. Bashfully, I gather the hero costume in my arms, setting it down on top of the clutter that was my desk, before giggling awkwardly, trying to avoid Mei's stares.
Usually, when the bell would ring signalling for lunch, I'd be relieved. However, today, I knew it would be the beginning of a very long interrogation session. Sighing in defeat, I grab the towel from my chair, dabbing at the oil stains on my overalls before grabbing my lunchbox, trudging behind a scheming Mei, I could hear her muttering to herself as we come up to the cafeteria, where students from every class come together.
Gulping rather loudly, I follow Mei through the crowds of students, muttering the odd apology when bumping into someone, before arriving at our lunch table. It was rather tiny. Only able to sit around three to four people. Already sitting there, digging into his Bento, was my other best friend, Eijiro Kirishima, his lips beaming into a smile as we roll up, taking our seats. Sending the hero course student a hello as we begin to dig in, listening to Kirishima go on about his day. Mei adding in the odd comment about her inventions to him.
On accident, I met Kirishima a couple of weeks into starting my Support Course at UA High. I was late, managing to sleep through the five alarms that I set to make sure I get out of bed in the morning, and I was rather frantic. We slammed into each other in the corridor, my blueprints flying everywhere. Instead of being rude and leaving me to fend for myself, which most students pictured the hero students to do, he stayed and helped me collect them all up before walking me to my class and explained to Power Loader why I was late and our friendship kind of blossomed from there. He often hangs around that Bakugo kid, the one who won the Sports Festival, but on Thursdays and Fridays he hangs with Mei and I.
"So, Kiri, (Y/n) has a crush," Mei points out, chewing down on her food with a cheeky smile, "They was all over him!"
"Really? Who is it?" He asks, fist pumping, finally finding something he could tease me with, "Come on Mei, tell me!"
"It's Shinso, the brainwashing dude from the Sports Festival," Mei explains clapping her hands, "They're doing improvements on his hero costume! You should have seen their face! They were practically drooling!"
"I was not drooling!" I defend, looking down at my lap with a small blush, picking at my food as I lean my head on my hand, "Thats an exaggeration!"
"Dude!" Kirishima laughs, slamming his fist on the table, "I can just imagine it!"
"Oh really, what about you and Explosion Boy over there?" I ask casting my chopsticks in the direction of a certain blonde
Kirishima whines, his cheeks slowly going from pale to red in a matter of seconds, his hands shooting up to cover his cheeks as he pouts my way. A small giggle leaves my lips as I swallow a mouthful of my sushi, letting it slide down my throat with a hum. Mei giggles, poking Kirishima's red cheeks, teasing him about the blonde, making him whine and hide his face in his arms on the table. His red hair falling onto the table making us Mei and I giggle softly.
It was blatantly obvious to everyone that Kirishima had a major crush on the short tempered blonde that was known as Katsuki Bakugo, literally, everyone knew about his crush on him except Bakugo. It was rather painful at times seeing Kirishima flirt in the direction of the blonde, only for the latter to either ignore him or get really confused. Everyone, including myself, had a small idea of just pushing one of them into the other, forcing them to kiss and finally, to rid ourselves of the sexual tension, admit their love for each other. However, Kirishima was too nervous about rejection to ever think about admitting his feelings so Mei and I decided to torture him instead!
"So Mei," Kirishima begins, clearing his throat as he recovers from my jab, "What else did (Y/n) - san do?"
"They were a blushing mess, their cheeks were so red!" Mei exclaims giggling making me whine and cover my face, "And they made a fool of themselves! They were head over heels for him!"
"Oh really?" Kirishima prods, sending me a toothy grin as I try to sink under the table, hoping I could steal Mirio's quirk, "What else?"
"That's pretty much it," Mei hums, her eyes gleaming my way, "They were so awestruck,"
"Mei!" I whine covering my face, the tips of my ears flushing red as Kirishima wraps an arm around me rubbing my arm
"We're just teasing," Kirishima says ruffling my hair
Humming softly, I spend the rest of lunch looking to my feet, softly kicking them anxiously as I lean on my hand, playing with my food. Mei and Kirishima's conversation slowly drowning out into white noise as I slip into my own thoughts, slowly feeling self conscious over my crush on this guy...
He had an amazing quirk, managing to place rather high up for a General Studies student, using his brainwashing abilities to his advantage in the Sports Festival. Almost defeating Izuku Midoriya with it. However, I, on the other, didn't really think my quirk was all that... sure, it came in handy from time to time when I worked on some of my inventions and whenever I needed to improve some hero costumes for the hero students but other than that it was rather useless.
My quirk, wasn't as flashy as everyone else's, or at least I thought it wasn't. It's called 'Keen Eye', it allows me to see all the improvements and imperfections of whatever and whoever I'm looking at, as well as the positives about it. As well as that, it allows me to really focus on the itty bitty fiddly things without getting frustrated, my eyes managing to see objects as small as dust as clear as day. However, if I use it too much or if I'm concentrating too hard on a minuscule objects, I am subjected to major migraines, straining my eyes and sometimes I go blind for short periods of time. I don't tend to use it, even when I should.
Why would Shinso want to date me anyway?... I'm a support course student, with a useless quirk, and I hardly fit in... He's training to be a hero, for All Might's sake!
Sighing softly, I grab my lunchbox, silently, without another word I turn on my heels and traipse out of the cafeteria, ignoring the calls from both Mei and Kirishima as I trudge back to the classroom. I couldn't face anyone right now... insecurities filling my mind as I look over my blueprints once more, casting an eye toward the hero suit...
This was going to be fun...
****************
It had been two weeks since I received Shinso's hero costume and trying to improve it was a tough one. Due to his quirk being based around the facial area, I needed to make sure that no damage or harm could come to his face. It was much like Eraserhead's quirk, staring at his victim, after asking them a question, not being able to blink otherwise they'd be a free thinking person again.
Humming softly, I run my hand through my hair, grasping a fistful of it as I release a frustrated groan. I hadn't even made any new modifications yet and it was slowly becoming closer and closer to the date that Shinso wanted his hero suit back. Stress beginning to slowly creep up on me as I cast my eye to the calendar. I had until Friday, today was Wednesday.
Sensing my discomfort, Mei wraps her arms around my waist, pulling me into a hug, rubbing my back trying to calm me down. The last thing I needed was to break down, have a panic attack.
"Do you want some help? Maybe I can come up with something," she offers, smiling softly as I pull away, "You're overcomplicating it, use your quirk, you have it for a reason, don't make it harder than it needs to be,"
"But I don't need to use my quirk all the time," I mutter looking down, sniffling, "I'm fine,"
"This is why you're so stressed all the time," she points out, humming softly, "You don't use your quirk, you have to use it, come on,"
Whining softly, I look toward the suit, running my fingers through my hair, Mei giving me a huge thumbs up, before I turn back to the suit. Taking a deep breath, I close my eyes, releasing my breath. Slowly, I open my eyes, a light blue hue taking over them as I scan the suit. A blue scanner pushing from my eyes as it takes in every detail of the current costume Shinso chose to wear for his hero look. The fibres holding his suit together. Nodding softly, I lean against the desk, seeing all the words form infront of me, the improvements needed in red, the pros in bright green.
"You got anything?" Mei asks, sending me a soft smile, waving her hand in the blue holographic scan making me yelp in pain, shutting my eyes, "Oh my god! I forgot about that! Sorry!"
"It's fine, it's fine," I say rubbing my eyes, slowly blinking softly, my vision slightly blurry, "I've got some ideas now,"
Mei rubs my back, uttering countless apologies as I slowly regain my vision, sending her a reassuring smile as I rub her arm, giving her the okay before sitting at my desk, pulling some paper from my desk, gripping my pencil as I quickly sketch a couple of designs of two new additions to the costume, Mei, sitting on her desk, her feet pushing on the edge of mine, wraps her arms around her legs, looking over as I begin constructing blue prints, muttering soft comments to myself while writing them down.
The door opening cuts me off from my train of thought, lifting my head up a small smile plays across my lips as Kirishima walks in, sending us a friendly smile before sitting on the desk the other side of me, peering over at the blueprints as he hands Mei and I some brownies he made the other day.
"Wow, you're really going all out for his modifications," Kirishima says, with a chuckle, taking a bite of the brownie, wiping some crumbs that fall onto the blueprints, "You trying to impress him?"
"They've been so stressed, I haven't seen them like this ever," Mei says, nibbling on the brownie, chuckling, "It's like they want him to notice them,"
"Are you serious about this, (Y/n)?" Kirishima asks kneeling by me, poking my cheek, "Do you wanna relationship with this guy?"
"I - I don't know..." I ponder, leaning on my hand, "It's not like he'd wanna date me anyway..."
"Why wouldn't he?" Kirishima asks, sending me a cute smile, "You're an adorable mess, you have a cool quirk, you're sweet, you're quirky, why wouldn't he want to date you?"
Looking down at my knees, I shrug softly, tapping my pen on my desk as I lean on my hand, sighing softly. Mei rubs my back, hugging me softly while Kirishima joins. I slowly sink into it, humming softly as I wrap my arms around their arms, smiling weakly.
"You need to stop feeling so insecure about yourself," Mei says, poking my nose making me giggle, "You're beautiful just the way you are,"
"That's easier said than done," I reply smiling softly
"Shinso would be lucky to have you," Kirishima says smiling
***************
Taking a deep breath, a triumphant smile plays across my lips as I look at the final products of Shinso's hero suit. Sure, I had to spend most of the time at home tampering and tinkering away in the garage, running on cans of coke and several mugs of coffee overnight to get the modifications done on time. Not actually sleeping properly for the past two evenings, forcing myself to stay awake to get this job done. My eyes, after using my quirk constantly to make sure that these products were nothing but perfect, were strained and a migraine was bashing at my brain.
Smiling softly, I grab some painkillers from Mei's desk, thanking her quickly as she's focusing on one of her babies before taking a swig of water and the pill, swallowing it down with a sigh, wincing as the migraine shoots a pain across my brain. My chest swelling with pride. I couldn't wait for when Shinso walks through that door, seeing my creations.
Humming softly, I approach the door as a knock wraps onto the wood. I smile softly, opening the door, beaming toward Shinso who just nods my way, walking into the workshop. Mei, sending me a cheeky grin, winks my way making me look away, confused. Was she up to something? Shrugging it off, I lead him to his hero suit, showing him the modifications I created, simple leg and arm support for whenever he attempted hand to hand combat.
"That it?" He asks arching a brow, looking unimpressed
"N - no, I have made two accessories that I think will help with your quirk," I explain playing with my hands, insecurities tugging at me, "If you let me show you them,"
"Come on then," he says, leaning on my desk, staring at me
Nodding quickly, I fumble around, picking up the two accessories I made from scratch. Gently, I set them down on the table, looking up at him hopefully a happy smile across my face as I notice his lips curl up. Laying on my desk, heavily inspired by Mr. Aizawa's hero costume, curled up in pile was a scarf that acted as a capturing weapon, made with the same materials and designed the same exact way as Eraserhead's one. Which would help him, if someone managed to escape his quirk, to capture the villains. Also, next to the scarf, was a detachable - mask like device that went over his mouth which had artificial vocal chords to help aid the activation of his quirk.
"Wow... you've really been working hard haven't you?" He asks smirking, sending a glance my way, my cheeks dusting pink, "I'm impressed,"
"T - thank you," I stutter, smiling softly as I hold my hands to my chest, "You're the first hero student I've gotten to help modify so I wanted to make it count,"
"Is it that... or is it because you've got a crush on me?" He asks, leaning toward me making my eyes widen, "I'm guess it's the latter,"
"H - how did you...?" I begin but trail off looking at him incredulously
"Your friends tell me you're taken with me," he says leaning over me, his hands resting on the desk with me sandwiched between the desk and him, a blush crawling up my cheeks and I hold onto his jacket, "Is that true?"
"I... I... I uh..." I stutter, my palms sweating, my eyes travelling everywhere but him
In the corner of my eye, I could see Mei and Kirishima, who somehow managed to sneak his way into the workshop, holding each other's hands, leaning in with shit eating grins, anticipating my response. Gulping softly, I look up at Shinso, blushing hard as his violet eyes meet my own (e/c) orbs.
"Well?" He asks smirking, "What's the answer?"
"I... I may do," I mumble, looking down, a small whine leaving my lips, "I understand if you don't want to... you know,"
"Hey, if I didn't want to date you, I wouldn't have brought it up," he says, his breath tickling my ear making me shiver
"R - really?" I ask looking up at him, perplexed, "Are you serious?"
"Of course," he says, pressing a soft kiss to my forehead making me blush, "Wanna go out sometime?"
"Oh my god... yes!" I squeal giggling before cringing internally, wow, yet again I've managed to make it awkward, "Sorry..."
"It's cute, don't be sorry," he says chuckling
Giggling softly, I wrap my arms around his neck, pulling him into a hug blushing as his arms wrap around my waist, holding me close. Out the corner of my eye, I notice Kirishima and Mei cheering, hugging each other, happy their plan worked.
"Hey Kiri, I'm gonna tell Bakugo about your crush"...
"No!"..,
