Wannabe Hero
???: This can go one of two ways lady. You hand over the bag and I walk away or I hurt that pretty face of yours and take it anyway.
???: W-Why?!
In an alleyway in the city of Konan, Japan, a young woman just out of work is being held up by a man, who clearly hasn't worked in years, wielding a rusty knife.
???: Just hand it over-
???: I don't think she's going to be doing that.
???: Eh?
The man turns around to find a young man, probably 15 or 16, standing at the end of the alley. He is in his casual attire, jeans with a dark green hoodie and a matching pair of converse, and has a smirk on his face. His short (H/c) waves in the slight breeze as he smirks at the clearly arrogant petty thief. His brilliant (E/c) eyes shining behind a pair of glasses.
???: Look kid, you should get outta here while I'm still feeling generous.
???: And I offer that suggestion right back at you mister.
The man glares at the young man.
???: Your mama never teach ya manners? No problem. I can show you how to respect your elders!
He turns fully to the young man and races towards him, knife raised and poised to slash the younger man's face. The (H/c) haired lad never lost his smirk as he reached down and pick up a discarded piece of wall. The piece of the wall began to bubble and let out a hiss as it grew and morphed into an abomination. A monster made of painted stone with four clawed arms and no eyes... just a mouth of stone teeth. It sat on all fours as the man came to a dead stop with terror in his eyes. The creature took one small step before the man threw his knife at the creature before sprinting as fast as he could pass the creature and young man. The young man's smirk transitioned into a smile. He looked at the woman who stared at the creature in wonder and slight fear.
???: Don't worry he won't hurt you. You've done well.
The man placed his hand upon the creature who let out a grunt of gratitude before his creation bubbled and shrank returning to the same piece of wall as before.
???: He didn't hurt you did he, mam?
???: O-Oh no. You showed up before he could. Thank you for saving me!
???: It was no problem at all.
???: Are you a hero? You look pretty young for one though.
???: Not yet, but might as well use my quirk for good.
The young man smiled again before waving at the woman and turning.
???: Hope you make it home safely. I've gotta get home myself.
The young man began to walk away, but the woman spoke up.
???: W-What's your name?!
The young man stopped. He turned and gave a closed-eyes smile. He lifted up his thumb and announced.
(Y/n): (Y/n) (L/n), future hero!
With that (Y/n) sprinted into the night. The woman attempted to follow, but when she reached the street (Y/n), you, was gone. She turned and began to walk to her home still occasionally scanning the street in a hope to find her hero. On a nearby rooftop, you were panting heavily with your hands on your knees.
(Y/n): Why... is... climbing... buildings... so hard?
You asked panting in between words.
???: Why did you climb a building anyway?
A voice asked standing next to you. You straightened and turned to the person asking you.
(Y/n): Well Tsu, if we're going to be heroes we need to be somewhat mysterious right?
The girl formally is known as Tsuyu Asui stared quietly at you.
Tsuyu: I don't see the point. We aren't heroes yet.
(Y/n): But we use our quirks to help people!
Tsuyu: Do you even enjoy doing this?
(Y/n): Doing what?
Tsuyu: Running around at night helping people. I know it's the right thing to do, but you drag me along and I'm tired.
(Y/n): Making people happy is my forte. And it looks like I need to make you happy now too. Hmmm...
You scanned from the rooftop and pulled off your glasses wiping off the dirt and dust that accumulated from your antics this night. Slipping them back on you spy a small diner.
(Y/n): Let me buy you some jelly for your troubles.
A faint blush rose to Tsuyu's cheeks.
Tsuyu: Really?
(Y/n): Yep.
Tsuyu: But I thought you needed to get home and it's like a two-hour wait for the next train.
(Y/n): You're my best and closest friend Tsu. I can wait two hours if it means I can make you happy. What do you say, Tsu?
Tsuyu: Sure, ribbit.
You smiled and scooped up Tsuyu bridal-style before standing on the edge of the building. She wrapped her arms around your neck and rested her head on your chest. You jumped down landing, but not gracefully. You slipped backward and fell on your bottom.
(Y/n): Owie.
Tsuyu: That's to be expected.
(Y/n): Could you at least act like you care?
Tsuyu: I do.
Tsuyu stood up and offered her hand.
Tsuyu: But I will tell you when you do something stupid, ribbit.
You took her hand and pulled yourself up before walking together to the diner. You both order a jelly of your choosing ( I will not force you to eat a jelly flavor you don't like so choose) and sat in a booth enjoying the treat. After finishing the two of you bid each other goodbye with a hug and you hurried to your home in Gifu. Yeah, you are extremely far from home, but it's worth it to be with Tsuyu. After a long train ride, you reached the outside of your house and saw that the lights were on. Your breath caught in your throat. You approached the door and gripped the doorknob. Pushing the door you found your grandmother and grandfather waiting for you. You sighed when you saw they were not angry. In fact, it confused you a bit because they were the opposite. They were both smiling from ear to ear.
Grandma: (N/n) I'm so proud of you!
Your grandma approached shakily and gave you a tight hug. You patted her back as your grandpa poured himself a drink.
(Y/n): D-Did I do something?
Your grandma realized you and from behind her reading glasses, you saw tears sliding down her cheeks.
(Y/n): Will someone tell me what I did?
Your grandpa downed his drink and with a smile on his face, he handed you a letter.
Grandpa: We already opened it to be safe, but-
Grandma: You've been invited to join U.A High!
Grandpa: You ruined my surprise, but yeah. Good job champ.
You stared at the acceptance letter in shock before a smile erupted across your face. You hugged your grandparents tightly.
(Y/n): I-I- I've got to get packed! I have to bring my essentials and back up clothes and-
Grandpa: Don't forget your hero outfit.
(Y/n): My what?
Your Grandpa smirked and pulled himself from the group hug. He reached the closet and dug through it until he pulls out a trunk. Unclasping the hooks he turned to you and spoke.
Grandpa: Before your father, I wore this suit. Your father refused to wear something he called outdated so to spite him I paid a good friend of mine to have it revamped for you champ.
Your grandpa opened the trunk and pull out his old hero suit. The one that had been redone to fit you.

You stared in awe at the suit.
Grandpa: Yep your grandpa was quite the charmer back in his day. And it was through this suit and being a hero, that I met your grandma.
Grandma: He swept me off my feet... literally. But we got to know each other afterward and things led to another.
Grandpa: Who knows maybe you'll find your dream girl in this very outfit as well.
Grandma: Like that Tsuyu girl!
(Y/n): S-She's my friend!
Your grandma whispered to your grandpa, but you heard it.
Grandma: For now.
(Y/n): P-Please stop shipping me with my friends!
Grandma: You can't stop Grandma! Now get to bed so we can take you to the school!
(Y/n): What about the outfit?
Grandpa: You let me handle this. You run off to bed champ. See ya in the morning.
You smiled one last time and hugged your grandparents one last time before complying and going upstairs to sleep. Now you're going from a wannabe hero to a hero-in-training... Great. We'll see how you do on your first day in the next entry to this story!
