The Starting Line
???: Wake up.
You awoke with a yelp with a stinging sensation on your cheek. You clutched your cheek and pouted at the person who woke you up.
(Y/n): That's not very nice Tsu...
Tsuyu: It's not about being nice. We need to get to the starting line.
(Y/n): What starting line?
Tsuyu sighed and pulled you up by your collar. She released you once you reached your feet and then gripped your ear pulling you along as she was your mother.
Tsuyu: Come on.
(Y/n): Ow! No stop, please! Owie! This hurts Tsu!
Tsuyu ignored your desperate pleas as she dragged you to presumably the starting gate. What would have been nice is to see where you were actually going since this is where you were going to school at, but Tsuyu made sure you didn't see anything. She tugged at your ear until you were in the middle of a group of presumably other students.
(Y/n): T-That wasn't nice you know?!
Tsuyu: We needed to get here and we did.
(Y/n): But my ear hurts!
Tsuyu: Your whole body will hurt when you're a hero.
Unknown to you, your semi-argument with Tsuyu was being looked upon by other students.
???: Why are they arguing?
???: Are they dating?
???: I hope not, the guy is pretty cute.
You and Tsuyu paused at the conversations going on around you. You brought up your hand and looked to the side covering an evergrowing blush and Tsuyu was blushing but looked conflicted. She was usually more laid back so, to be honest, this scared you a bit. Tsuyu then gripped your wrist and took a step closer to you holding you by the sleeve of your sweater.
Tsuyu: We aren't students yet.
Tsuyu whispered to you silencing her voice from the others to most likely avoid further embarrassment
(Y/n): Pardon?
Tsuyu: We have to take an entrance exam. To make it brief destroy the small robots, avoid the big one. Got it?
You were staring off into space, seemingly calm but on the inside, you were panicking. You weren't a student yet?! It said you were enrolled already! You couldn't go home now that you were so close to becoming an actual hero. And you grandpa was adamant about not coming back for you so even if you failed the entrance exam he would probably leave you here! You had to pass!
Tsuyu: (Y/n)-chan?!
(Y/n): H-Huh? O-Oh yeah. Thank you for telling my Tsu. I probably would have failed if it wasn't for you.
Tsuyu: Don't thank me until we actually pass.
As you tried to speak up again you felt a tap on your shoulder. You looked over your shoulder before fully turning to the person with Tsuyu still holding your sleeve. It was the pink girl from before.
???: Hey there!
(Y/n): Hi!
She offered her hand to you, but it was limp and she offered her knuckles rather than a handshake.
???: You look princely enough, so treat me like a princess!
(Y/n): Isn't that a little obnoxious?!
???: Come on it'll be fun!
You let out a sigh and gripped her hand gently leaning down and placed a quick kiss on her knuckle. You pulled back with a light shade of pink on your cheeks, but a small smile on your lips. You did a sarcastic bow and in a dramatic announced.
(Y/n): My dear lady! Would you do me the honor of granting me your name?!
She giggled before returning the bow with a curtsy.
Mina: My name is Mina Ashido. Now, Mr. Prince, can you tell me your name?
(Y/n): The name's (Y/n) (L/n). And this is m friend Tsuyu Asui.
Mina smiled at Tsuyu and offered her a normal handshake.
Mina: Nice to meet you!
Tsuyu took her hand and replied normally rather than sounding upset or conflicted like you thought she would.
Tsuyu: Nice to meet you as well Mina-chan.
Mina: You guys ready for the entrance exam?
Tsuyu: Yes.
(Y/n): No.
Mina looked at you confused and Tsuyu cleared it up.
Tsuyu: He fell asleep during the presentation and barely understands what we're doing here.
Mina: We-
???: ALRIGHT LET'S START!
You looked up stared in shock with a smile on your face. There was the hero Present Mic! You didn't have much time to watch him as he yelled again.
Present Mic: GET MOVING! THERE ARE NO COUNTDOWNS IN REAL BATTLES! RUN RUN RUN LISTENERS YOU'RE WASTING AIR TIME HERE!
You were yanked by the collar and pulled toward the area behind what must have been a massive door. You managed to get at a running pace before your collar was released and Tsuyu ran next to you.
Tsuyu: Good luck!
Tsuyu turned a corner and ran off to find some of those robots she told you about. It was your lucky day because the wall exploded next you and a robot appeared.
(Y/n): Hey there!
You picked a piece of concrete and it bubbled in your hand giving off that familiar hiss. You tossed it forward and it morphed into what you could best describe in your rushed thinking was a bear. It tore into the steel of the robot, ripping into wires and splattering oil until the machine came to a stop. The bear, now covered in oil, walked up to you on all fours.
(Y/n): Thanks, buddy!
You scratched behind the bear's concrete ear and it growled slightly in gratitude as it bubbled and return into a piece of concrete. Then staring at the robot you got an idea. You ran up to it and ripped off a sheet of steal along with the wires and electronics attached to it.
(Y/n): Just going to borrow this... you probably don't mind.
The sheet of steal gave off a metallic hiss and bubbled in your hands and began to take shape. It looked like a massive deer. Large and razor-sharp antlers rested on its head which was mostly comprised of wires and two glowing lights as eyes. The metallic body looked like it had been snapped together from a kids toy set, but it didn't matter as long as it moved. To be honest, you were better at working with organic material rather than metals, but it seems to have worked at least partly here. You took a seat on its back and it rushed off. Primary target other robots of its kind or... former kind you guessed. Racing through the streets you rammed other robots with your mechanical deer, ripping them to shreds with its antler or piercing them enough to were you could rip out wires. After destroying anywhere from ten to fifteen of the robots the area seemed vacant. No more robots, just heaping piles of metal on the ground. So you hopped off the back of your metallic deer friend and pet his back.
(Y/n): Thank you for all of the help. I'll try to call on you again someday.
The deer didn't buzz or grunt, it just nodded in respect before bubbling and fizzing back into the sheet of steel from before. You sighed out in relief and rested your hands on your knees. You weren't exhausted physically more like mentally. You were extremely worried about not passing the entrance. You felt the ground rubble. You slowly stood up as you felt the vibrations in the ground grow stronger and stronger until you heard the yells and screams of the others. You moved as quickly as you could in dress shoes reaching what seemed to be the main street where the others were running from something. It wasn't until you got the great idea to turn your head did you notice the massive robot. It was taller than the buildings in the mock city and loomed over the kids running from it.
Present Mic: LESS THAN TWO MINUTES REMAINING!!!
(Y/n): Two minutes? Two Minutes!
Your gaze drifted back to the robot, but what really caught your attention was a yelp.
???: Ow!
You looked at the tracks of the robot and spotted a brown-haired girl. Her leg appeared trapped under the rubble created by the giant robot. She was trapped and your muscles moved before you could think. You were racing toward the girl before you even realized you had been moving. You sprinted to her side and slid into position tearing your pants slightly.
???: W-Who are you?!
(Y/n): That's a pretty dumb question to ask right now! Let me help you before you ask anything else!
You gripped the rubble before trying to lift it. It budged just enough for her to pull her leg free before you dropped the ginat piece of concrete and watching it crack the concrete below it. Air rushed past you as you stared up at a green-haired kid soaring toward the robot. You fell back with the girl and she gripped your arm. The boy in the air pulled back his fist and with one powerful punch caved in the plating on the robot's face. Your mouth hung open as the robot toppled back with its head crushed. The boy hovered in the air for a moment until a shout broke the silence.
Present Mic: ONE MINUTE REMAINING!
Time seemed to restart as the boy started to fall from the sky rather quickly toward the ground. You jumped to your feet pulling your arm from the grasp of the girl and looked around. Your eyes fell upon the large piece of debris and you gripped it. After bubbling and hissing it began to take shape as an abomination with one massive arm.
(Y/n): I need you to throw me!
The creature grunted in confusion.
(Y/n): THROW ME!!!
You placed your stomach and torso into the pal of the creature who seemed to catch on as it held you up javelin style before pausing. It took a huge step forward and hurled you into the sky at the green haired boy. You felt weightless and time seemed to slow as you sailed through the air at the heroic boy. After a small bit of silence, you reached him and pulled him into your chest tightly as you couldn't adjust him to any other position considering his heavily damaged limbs. He looked terrified as everything came rushing back. The whistle of the wind as it whipped past you, the ever-growing sight of the ground and the inevitability you would hit the ground with nothing to cushion the blow. You looked down and saw how terrible your positioning was. You would fall upon rubble and shrapnel from the robot that would pierce and batter yours and the already hurt boy's flesh. So you did what any good hero would do. You threw the boy away from the rubble and hoped he would hit something softer or at least dodge the debris. Your body, however, couldn't have been moved in time. You hit the ground with a sickening crack as your legs shattered on the concrete and rubble. Your right hip and shoulder pierced by pieces of metal. Your left shoulder felt broken and you couldn't feel your left arm from the elbow down. You head rested on a piece of rubble and a cool liquid ran down your neck.
(Y/n): Ruined a perfectly good sweater.
Your vocal cords were spared at least. You grunted in pain as you tried to lift from your position. You were too close... too close to becoming a hero to die now and you were going to pass this entrance exam no matter what! You lifted your legs and maneuvered through the gruesume pain. The metals in your back didn't pierce all the way through making it easier for you, but blood from your internal wounds dripped down your chin. Unless this school has an amazing nurse, you are probably not going to make it far. Your body felt cold as you overworked your muscles, forcing them to haul you up. You reached a seating position and found that your glasses were missing. A quick search on the ground found them, but one lens was cracked beyond recognition and the other was chipped. You threw caution to the wind as you slid the shattered glasses onto your face and with all of the fading strength in your body pulled your self up. You rested your body against the corpse of the humongous villain and watched the scene before you unfolding. The boy was on the ground with the brown haired girl next to him. A short old lady was kissing him for some reason and the other students were surrounding him. He as a true hero. If he hadn't destroyed the villain you now rested against you would probably have been crushed with the girl. You watched the crowd shift and Tsuyu appeared looking around searching for you in the crowd.
(Y/n): Tsu...
She almost seemed to hear the broken whisper as her eyes met with yours and she began to make your way towards you. You shoved off and stood straight. Your movement of others as they smiled at you waving. All you did was save the real hero and now your too injured to even move. You waved back and gave a closed-eyed grin. You tried to take a step forward, but everything collapsed. You felt light headed and your muscles stopped working. You kept the smile as you fell forward watching Tsuyu move from a walk to a sprint as she ran to try and help you. Your hearing was shot as you could only feel the large group of kids run at you. Someone kneeled by your side gently patting your head as if to confirm how badly injured you were before you were turned and your head rested on the lap of Tsuyu. You looked up at her and smiled. She looked panicked and worried. You always hated that look. You preferred when people smiled. You hand weakly raised and rested on Tsuyu's cheek. Mina stood over you looked scared for her new friend and other assorted looks made up the group of kids. Even brown haired girl dragged herself and the green- haired boy over somehow. The old lady from before walked over and looked down at you. She smiled at you and her lips extended pressing a kiss to your temple. Your body seemed to shift on its own as you grew warmer and your bones themselves seemed to shuffle to retake their original postions. With this, your hearing returned.
Tsuyu: You're not supposed to die on me you idiot!
This was the first time you had heard Tsuyu somewhat raise her voice since childhood.
(Y/n): I had to use my quirk for good right?
???: Let him rest. Both of them need it.
You didn't need to be asked twice as your eyes closed. Your body moved slightly so you could wrap your arms slightly around Tsuyu's waist in a comforting fashion both for yourself and for Tsuyu. Much to the cuteness and dismay of the remaining girls.
After saving the green-haired boy and recovering from major injury, in the next entry we see where you ranked out of the kids and see your first day of U.A Academy!
