Take What You Want

A figure walked off into the night, unsure of his direction yet he could not get any sleep despite the comforting arms of his companion. A sigh escaped his lips as he moved toward a park and took a seat on a bench, not worried about others seeing him in his relax clothes. The boy let out another sigh before feeling a shudder trail down his spine. He slowly looked to his left and found he was not alone on the park bench. His supposed mentor Jack had decided to reappear after some time, not that is pleased the boy.

Jack: Ah why the long face, pal? Not happy to see your friend after so long?

(Y/n): Why the hell are you here? I already have enough problems.

Jack: Problems, eh? Like... oh I dunno... that faulty Quirk of yours?

You looked at the man with a glare in your tired looking (E/c) eyes.

Jack: Looks like I hit the nail on the head, huh? Look there is nothing wrong with a Quirk like yours! In fact, it must be fun to watch you try and fail so horribly at being a hero~

Jack let out a cackling laugh, another chill ran down your spine at the tone it took.

(Y/n): You don't know anything... You only show up when I'm alone or in trouble, so are you some sorta screwed guardian angel or have I finally gone off the deep end?

Jack: Oh my boy... I know you better than you do. A goody-two-shoes decides he wants to be a hero and follow his grandparent's image because his daddy was a disgrace and mommy went bye-bye before you were old enough-

(Y/n): Shut it.

Jack: But oh no! Being a hero is harder than Grandpa's stories and you can take a hit without being crippled!

(Y/n): I said shut it.

Jack: And now you're having an identity crisis because why should a glass cannon be a hero when you know there are so many others that are better than you-

(Y/n): I said shut the hell up you bastard!

You shouted out with rage as you jumped from the bench and glared at the causal looking man. You had thought you would be angrier at the male but this rage you felt... sad. Like it was a response rather than an actual action.

Jack: Tell me, kid... why did you come to this school?

(Y/n): Because I want to be a hero.

Jack: Do you though? What good has all this training done for you? Think about it... besides meeting some new people and leveling of that awkward flirting of yours, you have broken and battered your body to the point you lost an eye and even absorbed metal into your body.

(Y/n): You told me to do that-

Jack: Because it was either that or die.

Jack cut you off and tilted his head at you.

Jack: You been battered and bruised and yet no teacher has stepped in to help you or even try to assist you in controlling your Quirk... isn't that strange?

(Y/n): The teachers are bu-

Jack: Busy enough to allow you to get injured over and over again, even lose your eye?

Jack may seem to be rather strange looking but he was an eloquent speaker that left you silenced by his argument.

(Y/n): So... what are you trying to say?

Jack: I'm still trying to figure out why you are going to U.A after all of this. You have suffered not only physically but emotionally and mentally from the strain your lack of control over your Quirk has caused you. Do you think I haven't seen you talking to that nurse or breaking down in front of that frog girl?

(Y/n): How the hell do you know any of that?

Jack chuckled as if it was a funny joke.

Jack: I told you, kid. I know you better than you do. So are you gonna tell me why-

(Y/n): Tsuyu.

Jack: Pardon?

(Y/n): You want a reason? Fine. I'm staying because of Tsuyu.

Jack: Ah the frog girl. So she's your reason for becoming a hero, huh?

You let out a sigh and looked up at the night sky. Were you even telling the truth or just tiring to get Jack off your case? Even you didn't know anymore. True you wanted to follow in your grandparent's footsteps but it seems you can't take any of your own steps without stumbling along the way. You were inside your own mind trying to figure out your own reason before you were interrupted by Jack once more chuckling. Yet his laugh sounded deeper and more judgemental like he had just proved a theory of his that he never shared with you.

Jack: Doing it for some girl, huh? Now isn't that selfish reason for becoming a hero.

He teased you, however you remained rather serious.

(Y/n): I just... I can't leave her, not yet anyway. I-

Jack: Need her? Stalker much? Ah...

Jack let out his own sigh and ran a hand over his mask as if wiping away weariness.

Jack: I can't blame you, kid. We all have reasons for doing things, even villains do for some messed reason or other. Though...

Jack paused for a moment and turned to you, looking you up and down.

(Y/n): What?

Jack: Don't let that need turn into a desire.

(Y/n): What are you saying?

Jack pushed himself out of the seated position with a grunt, moving over you to rest a hand on your shoulder, explaining this to you like a teacher to a student or a parent to a curious child.

Jack: Desires turn to obsessions, kid. And obsessions mixed with pain or rejection can twist anything into something distorted.

(Y/n): That won't happen to me. I know it's a cheesy line but I know the difference between right and wrong.

Jack: You may now, but what happens if those lines blur? What are you gonna do then? All I'm saying kid is don't let this turn into the origin story of a villain.

Jack patted you a few times on the shoulder before walking past you into the night. You turned to ask him something only to find him gone. You let out an annoyed sigh and ran a hand through your hair before looking up into the sky.

(Y/n): Origin story, huh...

You didn't get to question it further as you saw clouds on the horizon. Deciding you would rather be warm than cold and wet, you continued on your walk back towards your shared home with Tsuyu.

Watching you walk off were two figures masked by shadows. One sounded rather bored of the situation while the other sounded quite familiar.

???: Why do you have to bully the kid?

???: I'm not bullying him, he's picking on himself. I'm just planting the seeds to see what happens.

???: Just don't let her hear of your new toy or you'll duke it out again.

???: This time I'd rather be interested in seeing what happens then, hahaha...
