Sanctuary

It was certainly there. Ever since your talk with Recovery Girl, you could feel newfound confidence in your abilities but the doubt was still there. You looked down at your hands and watched them tremble lightly. Maybe you still had adrenaline coursing through your veins? No... perhaps it was because you were in front of so many people? Maybe... or it could be-

You were cut off as the platform under your feet began moving. After your loss to Bakugo, you managed to get in a small nap, before you were made to clean yourself up and hop onto this weird platform thing. They needed to flaunt your place to the stadium once more before you could get any real rest. Light began to shine upon you as your platforms broke ground and you stood in your respective places. Todaroki had placed third, you had placed second, and Bakugo had placed first, though his constant thrashing and pulling on his chains were starting to give you a headache. You didn't know how or why Bakugo was muzzled but it was a blessing at the moment. Confetti rained from the heavens as you glanced up slightly to look at the wave of photographers and reporters, taking pictures of the results.

(Y/n): Wait...

You whispered to yourself as you began moving your fingers, clenching and unclenching them to try and get a feel of them. Your fingertips seemed really cold for some reason while the rest of your hand and even arms seemed warm.

(Y/n): I think I overused my Quirk... yeah that's probably it.

As you diagnosed yourself, you mainly drowned out the voice of Midnight until she yelled something about medals which was accompanied by a loud HAAAAA HA HA HA HA. You brought your eyes to look at the top of the stadium to find All Might leaping from it falling towards the ground with a fantastic flip, sticking the landing. A moment of awkwardness passed and soon All Might stood before you, holding up a second-place medal.

All Might: Young (Y/n), congratulations

You leaned forward as he placed the medal around your neck.

(Y/n): Thank you mister All Might.

All Might took a step forward and placed his large hand upon your head, ruffling your hair in a comforting way.

All Might: I know things seem tough, but if you trust in your abilities and your friends, I'm sure you can achieve every goal you set.

How in the world did he know to say that? It frightened you a bit as his advice perfectly helped out your situation. He then enveloped you in a sincere hug, before moving to Bakugo next. You lifted up the medal and gazed at your blurry reflection in the metal. You saw your glaring yellow eye and let out a sigh. The eye was just a constant reminder of your drawbacks. Isn't a Quirk supposed to help its user? Then why does yours only seem to do harm? You gazed up at the cameras and slapped on a slight grin, the camera flashing and blinding you.

After the festival, you returned to class in your uniform. As you listened to Aizawa explain about recruitment by pro-heroes, your mind lingered on All Might's words. You didn't like this building negativity you were feeling. There seemed to be this weight on your chest that just made you feel awful and it persistently sat there, drawing your attention as Aizawa dismissed the class, telling his students to rest up over the next two days. You gazed out of the window and simply gazed out at the orange skyline until someone tapped the top of your head. You turned and found Tsuyu, ready to leave like any other day.

Tsuyu: Is something wrong, (Y/n)?

(Y/n): I uh... I'm still figuring that one out.

Tsuyu blinked a bit and then pulled at your hand.

Tsuyu: Let's go home, ribbit. You're probably tired from all that fighting today.

You let out a soft sigh and nodded slowly, letting Tsuyu drag you out of the class. It was weird for Tsu to take the lead but hey... maybe she needed to today at least. You waved your goodbyes to your classmates and walked out the door to recuperate over the next two days.

(Y/n): Tsu... You really didn't have to.

You smiled softly as Tsuyu placed a jelly in front of you. Reminiscent of those nights you spent stupidly wondering the streets of Konan looking for villains. Tsuyu sat down with her own plopping onto the couch next to you. You took your spoon and began eating the jelly slowly, savoring the flavor as you sank back into the couch.

(Y/n): You're a lot more relaxed when we are at home Tsu.

Tsuyu: Well you're usually asleep so I don't have to worry about you making dumb choices, ribbit.

(Y/n): Hey not all my choices are dumb!

Tsuyu: If you say so.

(Y/n): Hey come on!

You pouted a Tsuyu which caused a small grin to form on her lips.

Tsuyu: You seem to be feeling better.

(Y/n): If you call getting reamed by my grandparents feeling better then go ahead.

You set the finished jelly container down and sat up on the couch. You leaned forward and gripped your knees, looking down at the floor as you contemplated simply sleeping on the couch or trudging to your room.

Tsuyu: I'm guessing it was over the eye, ribbit.

(Y/n): Yep. The hospital called them obviously, but the first time I called in a long while was also the first time they got to chew me out. I barely got them to calm down let alone keep me in the school. It just... *sigh*.

Tsuyu: It just what?

Tsuyu had finished her jelly and set the container aside and moved closer to you, her attire similar to that of the day you watched movies together waiting to hear about your results from U.A.

(Y/n)): I... I don't know what to do anymore. Things were so much simpler back in Konan and now I can't seem to walk away from a fight unscathed! A-And not to mention my Quirk is hurting me worse than the villains and now I just feel so weak and cold all the time! I... I just...

Your rant turned into a sputtering mess as you turned and stared wide-eyed at Tsuyu, stress tears building in your glistening eyes as you broke down in front of her. Tsuyu herself had never expected to see this side of you. Yeah sure, you had problems but you were always the happy go lucky one and now... now you are breaking down and she didn't know what to do. After a bit of internal debate, Tsuyu moved closer and wrapped her arms around your neck pulling you closer to her.

(Y/n): T-Tsu what are yo-

Tsuyu: It's ok, ribbit. I'm here for you.

Those simple words shook your already fragile core as you moved closer and hugged Tsu tightly, burying your face in her neck as you let out your problems Tsuyu patted your back slowly as she leaned back, not being able to support your entire weight. Slowly as the two of you laid on the couch together. You managed to bring your sobs to whimpers and then to silence. You felt physically and emotionally drained after such a day and ended up falling asleep with Tsuyu on the couch.

(Y/n): Tsu...

Tsuyu: Hmm?

(Y/n): ... I love you...

Tsuyu chuckled softly, though she couldn't hide the small pink blush upon her face.

Tsuyu: I love you too, ribbit.

And with that you drifted off to sleep, entering into a world much nicer than the current one and soon Tsuyu followed you, cuddling with you as you too spent that night asleep on the couch.
