Influences
???: Free coupon, sir?
A cheery lady offered a sheet of paper to the (H/c) haired male. He glanced down at it and offered a small smile before taking it. He didn't know what it was for but he didn't want to be rude. He gripped the paper and offered a nod before moving on, shoving it into his pocket as he moved down the sidewalk.
(Y/n): It's barely noon and I already want to go to sleep...
You mumbled as you let out a soft yawn. Life certainly wasn't letting you get much rest as you tried to put back in place the pieces of your brain that felt shattered over the past few days. It must be noticeable at this point because even Tsuyu suggested you talk a walk to clear your head. Though why she didn't come with you concerned you more.
(Y/n): Maybe she needs space... I have been pretty clingy lately.
You spoke to yourself trying to reassure your mind as she watched the sidewalk go by, your eyes focused on the ground rather than ahead of you. You really needed to get your head in the game because when this little break from school is over you have to go back and pick a hero name. you know the little thing that you will be remembered by for like the rest of your life, it's no big deal really. You pulled your coat a bit closer and continued forward, wanting to find a more quiet place to settle in for a bit. you thought of going to the park you had gone to a few nights ago but honestly, you had no idea how to get there. You had been in a bit of an emotional haze and just roamed until you were there.
???: Oi kid.
You paused at the sound of a gruff voice. You looked next to you and surprisingly found yourself at a stand for assorted chips and candy.
(Y/n): Do you need some-
???: Wait... you're that kid from the sports festival!
The older man declared with a smile, pointing at you a bit. A few pedestrians on the street paused and looked at you in surprise. They offered their quiet congratulations and patted you on the back before rushing off to their day jobs or family gatherings.
???: I really thought you were gonna take the whole dang tournament but it is a little hard to beat a kid that throws around explosions.
(Y/n): Yeah... I'm glad I managed to get placed really.
???: Well you did great kid! Here...
The man turned around and pulled something from behind him before offering it to you.
???: Great job kid, I'm rooting for ya!
You took the bag from the man and looked down at it. It was a pack of chewy pomegranate flavored candies. You felt a small grin grow on your features before you looked up at the man.
(Y/n): Thank you, sir. I'll do my best.
Your tone may have sounded dull but your words were genuine as the man returned your smile and you began walking off, pulling open the pack of candies. You took a chewy candy and popped it into your mouth. Whether you liked the flavor really didn't matter as free candy was free candy at this point. You could have sworn you heard a familiar voice behind you and turned to lean back against a building, looking to see if you knew it. Sadly it was no one you knew except for a rather upset looking girl. Her figure was rather petite with fair skin that looked lovely in the light of day. As for height, it appeared she was a bit taller than Tsuyu from your best estimate. She wore her dirty ash blonde hair in two messy buns that sent her hair wild in many directions. Despite the pout present on her face, her features looked quite nice and her yellow eyes were rather intriguing with a purple slit in them resembling more of the eyes of a cat than a human. You popped another candy into your mouth as you watched her move away from the stand you had just been at.
???: Grr! First, he sends me on this stupid hunt and now I can't even get my pomegranate candies! This day is just terrible.
Does she like these little candies? You looked down at the bag and then back at her.
(Y/n): Hmm... Guess I'll do my good deed for the day.
You moved over to the girl and slowly reached your hand out. As your fingers were about to press onto her clothed shoulder, she quickly turned to you with a soft glare. She didn't say anything but her eyes traveled down to the bag in your hands and her gaze instantly softened. Looking at her this close, you could see she was wearing a school outfit, which surprised you because you had never seen this kind of outfit before. Maybe she was from another prefecture or was here on a class trip?
(Y/n): Um... do you want these candies?
She looked up at you one more time before taking the candy from you in a flash, a bright smile filling her face to reveal her rather sharp looking canines, another feature that reminded you of a cat. She looked as though she was almost blushing from simply getting the bag but you contributed that to her overall personality, or you hoped that was at least.
(Y/n): Enjoy the candies, alright?
???: I will! Thank you!
You offered her a smile before turning to walk away. It was then that she spoke once more.
???: What's your name?!
She excitedly asked the question which you couldn't help but stop and turn to her.
(Y/n): It's (L/n).
???: No like your first name!
That was a rather odd request from a stranger on the street but you simply shrugged it off mentally, knowing you would probably never see her after this.
(Y/n): You can call me (Y/n).
Her eyes lit up once more as she took candy from the bag and pressed it to her mouth, chewing on it with a wide grin. Once she had finished the candy in her mouth, she clutched the bag to her chest and beamed at you.
Himiko: My name's Himiko! Himiko Toga!
Her optimism was strangely infectious as you turned to her fully and gave her a small grin in return.
(Y/n): It's nice to meet you Himiko.
Himiko: (Y/n) do you mind if I ask you a question?
You searched your brain for all the possibilities as to what she could ask, trying to map out a short conversation with her, but found yourself dumbfounded at the topic she decided to pick.
Himiko: What's with the one eye?
You blanked at her question.
(Y/n): H-Huh?
Himiko: You have a nice (E/c) eye and then you have that yellow one. Are you wearing a single colored contact like one of those Chūnibyō?
(Y/n): W-What?! No of course not it's... it's...
Himiko tilted her head in confusion as you tried to figure out a way to describe it.
(Y/n): I messed up and I paid the cost. I lost my eye fighting a villain I wasn't ready to take on and my glasses broke. I lost my eye because of the broken glass.
You didn't know why you were telling this to a complete stranger or to anyone who could hear you passing by on the street, but somewhere inside you, it felt good to talk about.
Himiko: So it's a fake eye?
(Y/n): Well sorta. It's hard to explain but it works like a real eye so I can see and such.
You carefully lifted your hand to your face and tapped your finger against the eye twice, letting her hear the plastic sound while not damaging the tech underneath it. You were surprised to see Himiko's grin grow even wider.
Himiko: So it's like a war scar?!
You let out a chuckle.
(Y/n): Heh... I guess you could call it that. Though I'm not proud of how I got it certainly.
Himiko: Why not?
(Y/n): Huh?
Himiko: Scars are cool! A scar is just a bloody wound that healed but left its mark on your skin! It's super cool!
That wasn't a very good sentence to reassure you but her smile had your face pulling into a smile as well.
(Y/n): Well I don't know if mine was bloody, I was kinda blind to it. And since I gave it to myself I don't think it is all that cool-
Himiko: I think it's cool~!
Himiko approached you quickly and beamed up at you, her eyes meeting yours. In your chest, you felt your heart jump for just a moment.
(Y/n): Cool? You think my eye is... cool?
Himiko: Mhmm!
Everyone you had known had given you pitiful looks when they glanced at the eye, some of them must have forgotten that it was still a working eye just not yours, thinking you wouldn't glance at their faces and see the looks of sadness that made you feel worse than you already did about everything but this girl... Himiko thought it was cool...
(Y/n): W-Well... thank you.
Himiko: You would look even cooler with more scars!
(Y/n): I don't know about that but... thank you Himiko.
Himiko beamed once more and took a handful of the candies. She offered them to you. You quickly moved to cup your hands together saving the candies before they could spill to the ground.
(Y/n): Oh are you sure? You really wanted these candies.
Himiko: I can always find more, I wanna talk with you right now instead!
She declared looking you in the eyes once more. You felt a warmth rise up to your face as you wondered why she would want to hang out with a stranger.
Himiko: Let's walk and talk, I wanna know more about my new friend!
The way she spoke to you with so much enthusiasm and optimism made you feel energized for the first time since your time in Konan. Though it was odd for her to call you a friend after a short conversation... She began walking down the sidewalk, popping more of the chewy candy into her mouth.
Himiko: You coming, (Y/n)?
You thought about your time and how you really needed to get back home soon. You glanced down to your hand and looked at the pile of red candy. No... Tsuyu would you want you to feel better even if it means staying out a bit longer on your walk.
(Y/n): I'm coming, Himiko.
You jogged a bit after the smiling girl, entering into conversation once more as you walked off. Maybe... maybe this Himiko girl will be a good influence on you...
A/n: Hey folks thank you for reading the chapter I really do hope you enjoyed. Do leave a comment if you liked it and I will try my best to update more and more!
