Dorms Are The New Norm

Sero: Wow it looks like everyone was allowed to enter the dorms?

Hagakure: Hah... I had a hard time.

Kyoka: That's normal...

Class 1-A had gathered outside the new dormitory on the ground of U.A. The students were quite happy to see that all their classmates had managed to move in, though the thought did hang in the air of the student that was missing. (Y/n) (L/n) was still hospitalized and even then, it's likely his family simply pulled him out of the school after everything that happened. The boys of the group had seemingly lost a classmate and in some minds, a friend. Meanwhile, the girl's lost you as a confidant, a good-natured guy that they could talk to. And the students knew who seemed the most hit, though she managed to keep a straight face. It wasn't long before the group had their attention on their teacher, Mr. Aizawa, though the air around him seemed different. Class 1-A could feel the weight of the situation they were in caving down on them. Aizawa stood before them, a glare etched onto his usual tired features. The tension could be cut with a knife as Aizawa straightened himself and spoke.

Aizawa: Kirishima, Yaoyorozu, Todoroki, Midoriya, Iida... These five went to go save Bakugo and (L/n) that night.

The class seemed to recoil a bit, their expressions growing worried or sad.

Tsuyu: Ribbit...

Aizawa took a moment to gauge the reaction to his words before closing his eyes, letting out a sigh as his face titled down.

Aizawa: Your reactions tell me you were all aware of that. Hmm... I'm going to set aside a number of issues and say this: If it weren't for All Might's retirement,  I would've expelled everyone except Bakugo, (L/n), Jiro, and Hagakure.

Aizawa let his words float through the group before continuing. He remarked on the severity of the judgment they made and to fix it to regain the trust of him and the other heroes for their reckless actions. Then as if nothing, he simply turned and directed the students to follow him. The class felt that weight from before softly lift off their shoulders though they didn't need to dwell on it long as they heard two voices.

???: My back is killing me...

???: That's 'cause you're old.

???: You're older than me!

The two vices playfully argued with each other as two older citizens exited the dorm. They seemed like any other citizen, though why they were in the dorm was a mystery. It was actually these two that made the first move as the older woman charged forward.

???: Tsuyu~!

The woman walked up to Tsu and pulled her into a hug, the older man rubbing his lower back as he approached slowly.

Mina: Ah Tsu are these your parents?

Hagakure: Grandparents?

Tsuyu had been returning the hug softly which surprised the people in the group who had obviously never seen these two old people before. Tsuyu pulled away and shook her head before continuing.

Tsuyu: No, these are (L/n)'s grandparents.

Your last name felt strange coming off her lips but she knew most of her classmates weren't as close to you as she was, though the glint in a certain pink girl's eyes caused her to be curious.

Grandma: Oh hello there! You must be our grandson's classmates!

Your grandpa managed to shuffle forward to put his arm around your grandma's shoulders softly.

Grandpa: Ah thank you for taking care of the kid.

Kirishima: Ah it's no problem. (L/n)'s been really fun to be around!

Sato: Yeah if it wasn't for him we would have been trapped studying during the... uh... thing...

Sato would have continued except for the soft glares he got regarding the situation and the missing classmate. Tsuyu took this moment to softly clear her throat

Tsuyu: What brought you here, Mrs. (L/n) ribbit?

Grandma: Ah well... we obtained special permission to help move in (Y/n)'s things.

The group seemed to grow cautiously hopeful at this statement.

Kirishima: Does this mean (L/n) is here?

Your grandparents took a moment to give each other sad smiles.

Grandma: Oh no... he has a few more tests to do today but should be coming over in a few hours.

Grandpa: We were just moving his stuff in since he won't have as much time as you kids do. We... want to help him out any way we can.

Grandma: Honestly... I still don't like this one bit... but our grandson cares about all of you and the last thing I want to do is hinder his dream as a hero. I just want him to be happy with his choices.

A certain green-haired boy took a moment to think back on what his own mom had said. This must be just as tough a situation for your family, especially considering how you were one of the targets in the attack.

Grandpa: Aww come on move on from the mushy stuff. While we are here, who are the kids that helped our grandson escape that evil bastard?

The five students that had been mentioned before softly stepped forward. Your grandparents examined them carefully, seeing how these young students managed to save you.

Grandpa: I see...

He spoke quietly as your grandma bowed to them, your grandpa pressing a hand into his back as he did his best to bow as well.

Grandma/Grandpa: Thank you for protecting him.

Grandma: Thank you so much for protecting our baby.

Izuku: Of course. We weren't going to allow a villain to keep our friend!

Your classmates softly agreed with the green-haired boy. If one thing was clear, in some compacity the class cared about you, even if they didn't know you too well. Your grandparents straightened themselves and were about to bid their farewells until-

Grandma: Oh yeah!

Your grandma turned back to the grip, her eyes looking amongst the female students in particular.

Grandma: Which one of you girls is interested in my little (Y/n)~?

Your grandma spoke in a mischievous tone as your grandpa looped around to go back and grab her. Though the question did not go entirely unreacted. Most just thought she was toying with them but a few in particular thought... maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to see where things go.

A young male walked slowly down a sidewalk, his bag clutched over his shoulder as he examined the people walking past him. Some didn't look at him at all, some gave him sideways glances but his favorites were the ones that moved out of his way or across the street entirely. Was he the bad guy here? What did he do wrong? Glancing to his side he caught sight of himself in a store window. This male of course was you. You didn't look any different in your mind. Your face looked tired, and you had an eyepatch over your socket until Mei could provide you with a replacement. You had a tiny scar underneath the missing eye but you seemed the same. Maybe it had something to do with the new U.A uniform you had been provided. but you weren't different... the new converse that had been gifted to you knew and the red tie on your neck seemed new but what was wrong?! Why?! What the hell was wrong?!

You took a moment to mentally calm yourself as you continued down your path. Your grandparents had wanted to drive you, but you needed to clear your mind for a little while, and you knew they were secretly following you in their car. Out of the corner of your remaining eye you caught sight of someone playing around with a pile of sand. It seemed off-putting in a cafe, but he whirled it around and made it sway for the girl opposite to him, trying to impress her presumably.

(Y/n): Typical. Trying to use his Quirk for some girl when he could help people...

Then a thought slid into your brain in a moment of weakness. You... you could always take it for yourself. All for One never really explained to you why your version of his Quirk was weaker but... trial and error, right? Your head roughly shook the thought out. You had no plan to use his Quirk. you weren't him and made no plans to be but... hell if the temptation wasn't there. It's hard to look pure unfiltered power in the face and look away. But... maybe you could... no. you weren't going to steal Quirks from others. no matter what he told you. You could resist the call of this... hungry Quirk and simply use the upgrades All for One poured into your body before they found you.

(Y/n): I'm stronger than this... I know I am but...

The temptation is always there. A kid ran past you toward his mother and you wondered what his Quirk was. Was it cool? You wondered what it could do? Hmm... maybe you- Damn it no. You blanked your mind for the remainder of the walk to the school as you tried to reign in your brain before it made any stupid choices on your behalf because the consequences would be forced on your moral half.

The dorms seemed quite fitting. Large and uniform, just like all the other dorms you had seen in anime but you would get to experience it first hand. You wondered if you would be on the same floor as Tsu... or maybe Mina could be your neighbor. Then again you would be fine with any of your classmates, but talking to them was a different matter. As the entryway was empty you could only assume your classmates were already inside and thus softly waved over your shoulder to your totally not hiding grandparents before entering into the dorms. The interior... was really nice you couldn't lie. It felt more like a very nice house or a hotel than a stereotypical dorm. The lobby to this place seemed empty too though you honestly had no idea where your room was... your grandparents seemed to have forgotten that during their covert spying mission.

???: Hoo... I need a break...

A voice picked up on your ears though you couldn't quite pinpoint it. It seemed... feminine in nature, so maybe your first encounter back wouldn't be so awkward. Rounding the corner to your side was... a familiar female lucky enough but not one you were suspecting. A short brown-haired girl rounded the corner and lifted her gaze, her chocolate eyes locking onto your (E/c) one.

(Y/n): Ochaco?

You mumbled out softly, forgetting your manners for a moment as you said her first name in a mix of surprise and relief. Suddenly coming back to the class was awkward so you were glad she was one of the first you met. The movements of the girl took you by surprise as she quickly approached you.

Ochaco: You're ok! Everyone was so worried about you!

She happily announced, smiling brightly at you as the sight warmed your heart slightly.

(Y/n): I'm... happy to hear that. Though... I promise to not make you worry about me anymore.

Ochaco: Aw come on you don't have to worry about that. I care about all my classmates.

(Y/n): Ah well... you did kiss me on the cheek that one time, so I have to be like... top five right?

Ochaco: Eh?! W-W-W-What are you talking about?!

The girl playfully hit your arm, avoiding hitting you with five fingers as she blushed softly. Truthfully, the girl was happy to see you in much higher spirits. You had gone through something terrible but even before that, you had seemed sad. So if she could help you keep smiling she would do her best! though she didn't think she was anywhere near suited enough for that like Tsu or even Mina. The noise of the lobby seeming drew more students from the second floor.

Izuku: (Y/n)?!

His voice called out in surprise as you reluctantly pulled your gaze away from Ochaco's. You really have to remind yourself to call her by her last name.

(Y/n): Hey Izuku... thank you for saving me.

Izuku: A-Ah it was no problem. I'm just glad you made it back!

Izuku's outburst also drew more students and soon you were surrounded by your fellow classmates. They were... happy for you. Days ago you would have thought they looked down upon you but now they genuinely seemed happy for you. This would truthfully take a little bit to get used to but you had no plans to let them worry like that again. No matter what it took to not seem weak again.
