Everyone: I knew he'd do that!

Shouts filled the air as students from the business, general, and support courses began growing angry. That damn fool Bakugo had already ticked them off and now his pledge to be number one had driven them to pure hatred. You grit your teeth as the shouts filled your ears driving you to the point of a headache. The arrogance of that bastard ticked you off.

???: Now let's get started right away! 

That voice, that style, that outfit that seemed a little too mature for a high school... that was the R-Rated Hero, Midnight! She must be here to referee the games for the first years.

(Y/n): Don't you think her outfit is a little...

Tokoyami: That's what I said.

Midnight: Now here is the first game!

Behind Midnight appeared a large screen as she whipped out her arm holding... was that a-

Midnight: This year, it's...

The screen was still spinning when abruptly it stopped showing the first competition.

Midnight: ... this!

Izuku: An obstacle course race.

Midnight: All eleven classes will participate in this race. The course will be the outer circumference of the school. About 4 kilometers! Our school's selling point is freedom.

Midnight licked her lips which sent a slight shiver down your spine.

Midnight: As long as you stay on the course, it doesn't matter what you do!

The crowd erupted in cheers as Midnight announced to the classes to take their places. You let out a shaky breath as you followed your class to the starting line. This whole event was being televised. You had been confident about showing off your skills when it was in front of your class, but now all of Japan was watching this including many pro-heroes. No. No, you couldn't panic. You had your dream of being a hero riding on your actions at this festival. A thought passed through your head that nearly stopped you in place. Your grandparents were probably watching this right now. Watching their grandson compete in these events. Your eyes trailed over to Tsuyu standing next to Ochaco. Your thoughts traveled back to your intimate moment in the hallway. You had to protect her and make your grandparents proud. You stretched your neck from left to right letting a small pop resound on both sides. You had to do your best. For them.

You glanced up at the three green lights above the archway to see one had shut off. You breathed in deeply and stared straight ahead. You could see in your perennial that the second light had gone off.

(Y/n): Let's do this. 

The last light shut off Midnight yelled out "Start". Students began racing forward pushing and shoving trying to grab the lead. Your strategy was to simply use your improved reflexes from Shaolin training to slide through the gaps without earning the irk of another student by trying to push them out of the way. Your Quirk had no use in this type of event so you would have to rely on your speed alone. The other end of the archway approached quickly as the students pushed forward. As the students made it further into the archway the path became clogged with elbows flying everywhere and those that were too short being crushed like that grape haired kid in your class.

Jack: Jump. Now!

(Y/n): H-

Jack: Do it!

Taking Jack's advice you jumped right as the ground froze around you. That Todoroki guy had used his Quirk to freeze everyone in place as he ran forward on his created ice path. Your shoes graced the ice in a messy relationship as you nearly faceplanted into the newly created ice floor, but a nearby trapped in place student's shoulder helped you out.

Jack: Use you Quirk on something. Like... your shoe! Use your shoe to create like a horse or something until we get back to even ground.

(Y/n): Good idea.

Jack: I know.

You had a death grip on the other student's shoulder as you pulled off your shoe and felt the chemicals secret through your palm to make the material bubble. Within seconds you had a mishappen horse-like creature. It didn't have to look pretty it just had to get the job done. and this certainly could. You managed to get onto the creatures back before it charged forth crunching the ice under its hooves. A few other students managed to get unstuck and charge after Todoroki. Momo and her creation quirk launched her forward as well as Bakugo managed to maintain by sheer force of anger and explosions alone. You creation because startled as the grape-haired kid was smacked out of the sky by... it was one of those robots from the entrance exam. You grit your teeth as you pleaded with your creation to push forward to which it complied though slightly reluctant. Your creation halted completely when it became revealed that there were three massive robots. Your eyes widened and you could feel your confidence itself shake as many more of the massive faux villains revealed themselves and impede your progress in the obstacle course. They were your first obstacle it seemed. One of the villains reached forward toward Todoroki. He began to mumble something and unleashed his Quirk. Ice formed around him before he swept up his hand sending the ice up the villain's arm before encasing the massive metallic villain in a frozen grave. Todoroki's power was to be respected that was for sure, but you couldn't let yourself become outshined and lose the first event! The after effects of Todoroki's quirk created a smoke screen, well more like an ice screen, over the ground shielding the students from the view of the villains.

(Y/n): Move now! Into the screen!

The creation reared up before charging forward into the haze. The faux villain began to collapse around you as the ice had destroyed its bonding. The pieces fell one by one before the whole villain tumbled forward. The updraft of dust and smoke created by it providing a thicker screen. Thanks to this, you managed to get out on the other side. 

Present Mic:  Shoto Todoroki from Class 1-A! He attacked and defended in one hit! How elegant! Amazing! He's the first one through! Riding on his heels, quite literally, in second place is (Y/n) (L/n) from Class 1-A as well!

Todaroki looked back at you with a slight glare in his eyes that you mirrored back at him. He may be in first now, but that could change in a matter of seconds. Your creation though made out of the material of your shoe still had four legs which were faster than Todaroki's two. Moment by moment you started catching up to him. 

(Y/n): I'm gonna take first Todoroki!

Todoroki: You can try-

Todoroki turned and whipped out his hand creating a small barrier of jagged ice.

Todoroki: But I won't let you.

Your instincts kicked in as you realized your creation could not jump the barrier. With a steady hand and quick reflexes, you managed to start retaking the chemicals back into your palm as you reached the barrier. Using the creature as a launch pad, you propelled your self through the air over the barrier pulling the creature with you that now looked like your shoe again. You tucked in and rolled on the ground slipping your shoe and stood up quickly kicking the ground the fully cement yourself in the shoe as you used your own abilities to continue after Todaroki. You reached the next obstacle and were stumped. Pillars of rock and dirt jetted out of a dark deep hole with strings interconnecting the many pillars. Todaroki could use his quirk to get over, but you were at a disadvantage. You could use your quirk again, but using too many chemicals this early on could hinder your chances later on. You sighed out in frustration as other students began showing up. Tsuyu, Ochaco, and Mina ran up next to you.

Mina: We caught up!

Ochaco: When did they build this stage?

Tsuyu disregarded the depths below and jumped forward landing on a rope. 

Tsuyu: Ribbit! This is a glorified tightrope.

(Y/n): You got this Tsu!

???: (Y/n)!

You turned to the familiar voice. Your heart warmed and a smile graced your features as your eyes met Mei's. Her were behind goggles but they still held a look of excitement.

Mei: I finally get to test out my babies! How exciting is that?!

(Y/n): I hope they work out for you. I hoped we would see each other again...

A blush rose to your face as the pink-haired girl gave a toothy grin. She shot out a line from her equipment and it landed into a nearby pillar. Her boots began to hover and she held out her arm.

Mina: Wait (Y/n) you know her?

Ochaco: Yeah how?

(Y/n): Well she-

Mei approached you quickly and took a grip of your forearm with you taking a grip on hers. You both flew forward and she reeled in her line, letting the both of you make progress.

(Y/n): Do I owe you another favor?

You asked up at the girl with a smile. 

Mei: I now have two I can call in at a later date. Now hold on and let's show off my babies to all the companies out there!

(Y/n): How about we win the obstacle race?

Mei: Well that too!

With the obstacle course underway, our young hero has been reunited with the girl who gave him his sight again earlier than he had thought. Working in tandem, the two are flying together like doves over the second obstacle in each other's arms, well arm. Ochaco and Mina seemed curious about her and what will her assistance effect in the results of the race and the eyes of his friends?! Find out in the next chapter of My Hero Academia x Male Reader!
