A New Outlook

Maybe it was the gravity of the situation that hit first. Had you actually done it or was this another cruel joke? Your eyes blinked a bit in disbelief as you reached the intended goal of the exercise. You.. you had actually won? It was the feeling of joy that coursed through you next that caused a smile to spread across your face.

(Y/n): I... I did it! Yeah!

You pumped your arms as you actually managed to win in school for once. The goal had been for teams to reach an escape point or apprehend an assigned hero. You had managed to find yourself the odd member of Team A with Kirishima and Sato. The original plan had been to simply power through the growing amounts of blockades set up by Cementoss and simply capture him and yet something didn't seem right...

(Y/n): I don't think this plan is working!

Sato: the more we strike the more he builds in place!

(Y/n): What do we do Kirishima?! We're being overwhelmed here!

Kirishima and Sato had been bursting through the cement walls with little effort before but as the walls kept appearing it was growing harder and harder to keep up. You had cobbled together a creation to smash through walls but even it was starting to show wear and tear from the constant strikes.

Kirishima: We just have to keep going! We can reach Cementoss!

A part of you knew this plan would end in failure. Cementoss was a pro-hero with many years of experience compared to your team. It would be no surprise if he was simply letting your team think they had a shot as he grew closer and closer to enclosing the group. A bubbling feeling grew in your chest and a sense of cynicalness filled you. You were so tired of trying and trying only to end up falling. Kirishima and Sato probably didn't need to worry about but for you, it ticked you off to no end to keep falling short. Thus, if your team wasn't going to do anything about the situation then you were. Kirishima smashed through a newly built wall and you managed to catch one of the shattered pieces. From this piece of concrete, you managed to bring to life another creation, its arms ending in points as it began piercing through the walls. The other creation lifted its arm to strike forward once more only to be stopped. It turned its head to you.

(Y/n): Change of plans, my creation.

The creature seemed to get the picture and nodded its head.

Cementoss sent forth another wave of walls to stop the students. He wasn't having any problems with them even though he was the only teacher facing a group of three. At first, he had to ponder why the student (L/n) had been selected for A. It seemed like his Quirk would be a total match for his own. But he did notice the student avoided making more creatures other than the initial one he created.

Cementoss: Hmm...

A Quirk that creates life... it seems like it would be a miracle but at the same time, it seems to irreparably damage the user if it uses too much. That's what Cementoss guessed as he watched the battle proceed. Cementoss turned his head slightly as your creation burst through another one of his walls. He simply readied another to take its place, but your creation moved with a renewed vigor. It sprung forward and charged toward the pro-hero. The hero moved without missing a beat, creating a wall to rush into the side of the creation. Cementoss found himself surprised once more as the creation seemed to have its own intelligence. It not only noticed the wall but used it to propel itself forward at the hero.

Cementoss: Quite impressive.

The pro-hero spoke before slamming another wall into the creation, sending it flying back toward Kirishima and Sato before all of them were eventually taken out of commission due to exhaustion. Cementoss approached the group as the walls that had encircled the group retracted.

Cementoss: All of them were quite impressive, though it will require much more than brute strength to be a hero.

The final walls retracted and he found Kirishima and Sato exhausted. He also came upon the creation of (L/n), however, he could not see (L/n). It occurred to him that the boy might have been boosting the power of his creation by entering it like he did during the sports festival.

The pro-hero's eyes widened slightly as the creation slowly began to chip apart and crumble. There was no one inside the creation, nor was it hiding anything. Cementoss turned his head and scanned his surroundings expecting a surprise attack only to finally be hit with the realization. He quickly turned his head toward the exit to the area and spotted your first creation sprinting toward it. You hadn't upgraded your first creation, you had made a second. The second was used to distract Cementoss long enough for your first creation to slip through his defenses and escape. That meant you were inside that creation! Cementoss turned and slammed his hands onto the ground. His Quirk quickly activated as he attempted to raise walls in order to stop you. It was then that your creation turned. You were indeed inside the creation but...

As you sprinted toward the exit, you knew that your team had finally exhausted themselves. It was up to you to win this thing and you were too close to tasting victory to allow this pro-hero to rip it from you. You could feel the burn of his eyes on the back of your head and turned to him. The blank face of your creation had crumbled enough that your eye peered through and locked onto the pro-hero's. You didn't quite know why but the hero seemed to be taken back by something. Perhaps he saw the resolve in your eyes! Yes! You were going to make it! As you turned to the exit once more a single wall blocked your path. A plan formed in your mind as you reached the wall. Your creation sprung forward, digging its hands into the wall and ripping it open with the last of it's strength. The creation quite literally tore itself apart getting through the last wall, throwing your forward with its momentum just enough that you rolled through the exit. You let out a couch, picking yourself up and dusting off your temporary hero clothes of your gym outfit only to take notice of your location.

(Y/N): I... I did it! Yeah!

After your narrow victory, you reached the area where everyone else had gathered to watch the pairings. After helping your team and shaking hands with Cementoss you had managed to kill enough time in your head to find yourself looking at the screen and seeing Tsuyu and her partner Tokoyami. A sense of tiredness filled your body as you stared at the screen. You hadn't apologized to Tsuyu yet... When she was done you would talk to her but for now, you will sit here and root fo-

Your phone buzzed in your pocket. Blinking in surprise, you reached into your pocket and glanced at the caller ID. A peculiar feeling filled your chest as you noticed who it was calling you. It was the same feeling you use to get when you and Tsuyu explored the streets when you were younger. You glanced at the screen of your phone and then the screen for the training. It was Uraraka who pulled you back in.

Uraraka: Oh (Y/n) are you ready to root for Tsuyu too?

She titled her head with a smile, planning on joining you if you were doing it as Midorya seemingly disappeared.

(Y/n): I...

Your mouth had already prepared itself to say of course before your words actually came out.

(Y/n): I have to take a call first. It's... pretty important, but I'll be back sure.

What? Since when... You wondered that to yourself before you quickly pressed the answer button and pressed your phone to your ear.

(Y/n): Hello? Ah hey! Yeah, I can talk... I'm glad to hear your voice too.

You spoke before walking off to continue the call in private. Uraraka was surprised by the whole event. Firstly, your face slowly morphed into a wide smile, the same smile you use to give to Tsuyu anytime the two fo you were together. It seemed like it had been so long since you truly smiled like that. Secondly, the comment of being glad to hear the voice of whoever that is made her suspicious too. Maybe it was your girlfriend! Unless...  She pondered this as she watched the start of Tsuyu's and Tokoyami's training.

Sometime later that day, Present Mic approached Cementoss with a question. It had been lingering in his mind ever since the training. He sat down with him and finally got to ask.

Present Mic: You could have stopped (L/n) at the end but it seemed like you froze up. What happened?

Cementoss let out a sigh before spoke.

Cementoss: It was the look in his eye.

Present Mic: The look in his eye? Like a look of pride or something?

Cementoss: No... I've fought enough villains to know the look in that kid's eye and it startled me.

Present Mic: What are you talking about?

Cementoss: (L/n)... he held this look of... pure murderous rage. The kind of rage I haven't seen before. He looked like he would truly snap if he didn't make it through that door.

Present Mic: He was probably just upset he wasn't able to fight through and capture you. We can't go labeling our student's villains when they get a bit upset!

Cementoss: I know what I saw. I'm most certainly not claiming he is one, but perhaps we should keep a closer before something terrible happens...
