A New Beginning
???: Anything?
???: Nothing.
???: What? Really? Nothing at all?
???: The kid isn't talking.
???: Hah... I understand though. The kid just went through a hell of a time. I wouldn't be surprised if he clammed up a bit.
The two figures speaking softly sauntered down a white corridor. The smell of chemicals and coffee filling the air. The two figures wore different attire, one wearing medical scrubs while the other appeared to be an officer. The doctor took a moment to grab a plastic cup and fill it with coffee, offering some to the cop who waved his hand dismissively.
Officer: We can only do so much with the info we have. We had hoped the kid would know more.
Doctor: I only helped for the sake of helping others like him, but I can't and won't push this patient anymore, especially if the event has left him with mental trauma.
Officer: Of course doctor. I hope you have a pleasant evening. If (L/n) remembers anything please give the station a call.
The two nodded softly as the officer took his leave. The doctor allowed himself a moment to pinch his temple in exhaustion before moving further down the hall, passing the room housing the patient he had just been speaking of.
Grandma: My baby... my precious baby...
Your mother clung to your torso tightly. The sight of the scars along your upper body bringing out sobs from her. Your grandpa simply paced back and forth by the window, a scowl pulled onto his face as his anger barely held back from seeping through. When you had been admitted, your grandparents weren't the first to arrive. Various police officers, nurses, therapists, and even a few heroes from the operation that took place came by to check on you. Though you knew what they wanted. They wanted... well... needed to know about the league and All for One. You would have offered your information but you didn't know much, to begin with, and... you weren't sure if it was right to tell them. The league was evil, there was no doubt about it... but some of them seemed genuine in their convictions. You couldn't help but chuckle softly as it seemed Jack's weird rants rubbed off on you.
Grandma: Are you ok?
(Y/n): You've asked me that six times.
Grandma: I know I just...
Grandpa: how the hell could they let this happen? Weren't the heroes supposed to protect them? And now look at em! Missing an eye and covered in scars by some fucked up sicko in a mask-
Grandma: Hideyoshi!
Your grandpa let his rant end as your grandma barked out his name, returning to his pacing as he clenched his hands tightly behind his back.
Grandma: Do you need some water or a snack? We couldn't really grab anything at the house but I can run to the cafeteria-
(Y/n): Grandma no... I'm fine. I'm just... so tired.
Grandma: Well then lay back and take a nap. I'll handle the doctors.
You waved your hand softly, feeling the weight of the world pull you down as a weird and sad feeling acted as a weight on your chest. You didn't know what to do anymore. Your body now housed the quirk of a villain. The bane of society. The scars on your skin a sign of the experimentation he did to ensure your body was suitable. Your hand lifted softly to see a gentle scar across your palm before turning to your grandma.
(Y/n): It's... it's the kind of tired that sleep won't fix, Grandma.
You admitted softly as your grandma pulled you into another hug. Your eyes trailed down to see the various bandages and wraps on your body up until the white cover on your lower half. The eye Mei gave you was long gone from the events, so the hospital gave you a small white eyepatch to cover your socket. A gentle stinging sensation covered the back of your eye, the sudden need to moisten your eye almost overwhelming you as the door to the room slowly opened. Inside walked your teacher, Mr. Aizawa.
Grandpa: Oh what the hell is all this?
Grandma: Hideyoshi. Er... Mr. Aizawa was it? Why are you here?
Mr. Aizawa took a moment. His tired-looking eyes trailed over your body and the protective stances of your grandparents. He looked different than usual, wearing a crisp formal outfit with his hair tired back. He cleared his throat before speaking.
Mr. Aizawa: I wanted to check on my student. I should have been more careful and it's my fault he was injured this way. I know there is no true way to apologize to you for this but I hope you will forgive me for making a request.
Grandpa: Pfft... you really think you are in any position to ask us for more? Our grandson has already given enough blood and tears for that damn school and you come crawling for more?!
Grandma: I wouldn't phrase it like my husband... but he is right Mr. Aizawa. (Y/n) is not a toy for you to pull around. Nor do I think we will be allowing the school to have any more contact with him.
Your eye widened softly. Were they going to pull you out of the school? Would you be able to see Tsu and your classmates again? Your brain suddenly jumped to life as your chin lifted slowly, your eye meeting Aizawa's before his gaze shifted downward.
Mr. Aizawa: I can never truly apologize for what U.A has allowed to happen to your grandson... but I would like to make a simple request. If you hear me out, I will leave.
Your grandparents remained silent, your grandma contemplating while your grandpa deemed about ready to toss out your teacher. Mr. Aizawa took this moment to speak.
Mr. Aizawa: Please don't give up on (L/n).
Eyes widened upon hearing this. Your grandpa on the verge of blowing a fuse as Aizawa continued.
Mr. Aizawa: I understand the complete lack of faith in U.A and myself... but (Y/n) (L/n) has shown himself to be an incredible hero in the making. He has saved his classmates time and time again with no intention of reward. On his body are more scars from heroic actions than the actions of that madman. He worries about his Quirk and his place in class, I know... but he is a hero just like the rest of them and I humbly ask that you allow U.A to redeem itself by helping (Y/n) (L/n) to become a top hero.
Mr. Aizawa concluded his statement with a stiff bow, hitting almost ninety degrees as your grandparents watched him, almost mentally speaking with each other. The room remained in total silence for a moment, only the beep and whir of medical equipment audible as Aizawa straightened himself and waited patiently for a response. It was your grandma that made the first move in return.
Grandma: Mr. Aizawa... I appreciate your concern but I don't see that happening. Our grandson has been damaged by that school too much to warrant us having any trust in it.
Grandpa: You seem like a fine man Aizawa, but that school is another accident waiting to happen and with All Might retiring... this whole damn thing is going to hell. I don't see how we can trust it.
All Might... retired? When... how... you felt so out of the loop that your head hurt, your eyes threatening to spill as you took a moment to pull yourself out of your grandma's arms.
(Y/n): I... I dislike U.A.
Everyone in the room focused on you, your grandpa smiling in triumph as Aizawa calculated your next few words.
(Y/n): I don't like the school, but I guess... that was to be expected. It's not the dream I thought it would be... but I also can't deny that I need it.
Grandma: (Y/n)...
(Y/n): I don't know what that villain planned for me... but I know if it wasn't for U.A I wouldn't have escaped. I'm not the same kid I was back home, visiting Konan to see Tsuyu. I need U.A for now...
Mr. Aizawa: I... I understand what you are saying, (L/n). I promise you we won't break the subtle trust you have left in us. I know you don't trust me or the school but I also have one more thing to say. To ensure the safety of our students, U.A has adopted a new policy. Dorms have been built at the school and the students will be transferred to them to allow closer examination as well more efficient training. If (Y/n) (L/n) wants to... we would like to invite him to stay in the dorms surrounded by his friends and classmates.
Grandma: Are you kidding me...
Your grandma carefully moved off the bed to a standing position.
Grandma: Our grandson can barely move on his own, nearly died several times from your school, and now using the single shred of respect we have left for you and the school you want to take him away? No way.
Grandpa: All Might is gone... the villains are getting stronger... there is no way in hell we could agree to tha-
(Y/n): The apartment.
Once more you drew the attention of those in the group.
(Y/n): The apartment Tsuyu and I stayed in is still paid for... you could simply move in there. the house will still be there but you could stay in Tokyo for a while close to the school to visit.
Your grandpa opened his mouth to interject but stopped when your grandma moved toward you, taking your hands gently into her own.
Grandma: (Y/n)... honey... we can't. Your grandpa and I can't just do that and you shouldn't be so willing to throw yourself back at the school. I know it's your dream school but think of your health.
(Y/n): I need this... please... I want to be with everyone like this...if not for the school but myself. Unless I go abroad, there is no other place to become a decent hero. And I... I still think I want to become one.
Grandma: T-Think?
Your heart dropped at the surprised tone of your grandma. It was your dream to become a hero, always was. Your grandpa and grandma shared a look as for the first time in all of your life... you seemed unsure of your goal. This school had almost gone too far, but the determined look in your eye doused their argument.
(Y/n): It's like Mr. Aizawa said... if you can't trust them at least trust me. I would never let you down...
You spoke with soft confidence. Your words broke down your grandparents even more. They just wanted to keep you safe. It's what your mother would have wanted and as the ones that raised you, they knew better. But... at the same time, you were right. U.A was the only decent school in Japan and the only other option might be sending you abroad. You could tell your grandma was on the verge of tearing up as she gripped your hands.
Grandma: We... will... we will all about it. That is not a yes but your grandpa and I will talk.
You nodded with a growing smile as Mr. Aizawa let out a breath.
Mr. AizawaL Thank you for taking my request into consideration. I... I will take my leave now. I have other students to visit today.
Mr. Aizawa nodded before moving to exit the room, pulling the door open before sliding it closed. Your grandparents took a moment for themselves before a nurse pulled the door open to inform them visiting hours were over. Though as they were your only guardians they were allowed to sit in the lobby down the corridor for the moment. Your grandma kissed your forehead softly and your grandpa pat you on the shoulder softly before begrudgingly moving into the corridor. They would never leave if it wasn't for the constant flow of doctors and officers to question you. But you knew they wouldn't be far, and hopefully never far in the future.
Nurse: Mr. (L/n)?
(Y/n): Yes?
Nurse: I'm sorry to say with the current seriousness of the issue, your classmates won't be able to visit, but... I managed to push your visits back an hour so if you need to nap you can now.
The nurse nodded to you before pulling your door closed, turning down the lights in the process. You felt the weight of the world crash down once more as the door closed, leaving you in the dimly lit room. It didn't even take a moment before your eyes unleashed the held-back liquid, your vision blurring as your hands lifted to press to your eyes softly. Your breath shook and you fell back softly onto the pillow, just letting your emotions take over for the first time in a while. Your face soaked in liquid anxiety, trails of sorrow leaving you as you pondered everything about your messed up life. All for One... your new Quirk... your old Quirk... it hit like a ton of bricks as you took a moment to try and think of anything other than your current situation. Your thoughts began to drift to things like-
???: Why don't you think of that frog girl?
You couldn't even dignify the voice with a response as you kept up with your sorrowful display. Though the voice and the man attached to it didn't need any more encouragement.
Jack: I'm sorry for all this kid. I thought I could help you but I've only made it worse.
(Y/n) Leave me... alone.
Jack: Don't worry I won't stay here long, I got all my answers out of that head of yours.
(Y/n): Get out.
Jack: Just uh... remember that you may not trust me but... it's like I always say, I know you better than you do so if you need anything... I'm there for you.
(Y/n): I said get out or I'll call the staff.
Jack: I got it... rest up kid.
As he got the answers he wanted, Jack seemingly left. You felt alone in the room once again. Jack was a pain in the ass. You should have just sold him out to the police but... he was right in a way. He knew you and in another way, you knew him. He was as messed up as you were and all his digging around in your mind made him one of the few people you could talk to... You just wanted to recover soon so you could check out this dorm U.A had and moreso... to see some people special to you. You just wanted it all to hurry and slow down at the same time. Villains and heroes... right and wrong... you were fighting a battle in your mind against yourself and either way it felt like you were losing. You weren't sure how much more you could take it and as your eye slid closed... you just begged for an answer soon...
