Last time we got to see Masato set foot in U.A. Academy for the very first time as he met his classmates as they all began training with their Quirks. Masato also managed to make his first friend in the form of Reiko Yanagi. What awaits Masato next at U.A.?

It had been a week and a half since Masato started school at U.A., in that time he got to at least know his classmates names. He mostly talked to Reiko, usually about the scary stories she would send him through text. The only major development was all of the Hero Course students being given a budget to make their own Hero Costumes. From what Vlad King said they would need them soon. Masato found himself sitting in class, a bored expression on his face. While he had been enjoying his classes at U.A., since so much of it was hands on, he still wasn't great at lectures or note taking. Vlad King cleared his throat as everyone in class immediately perked up.

Vlad King: Now that all of you have had your Hero Costumes made we can move onto our next major training lesson. That being the Battle Trial.

The students of Class 1-B looked at their teacher in confusion, not exactly sure what a Battle Trial was exactly.

Itsuka: Vlad-Sensei, what exactly is the Battle Trial? Is it some form of sparring matches between our classmates?

Vlad King: It's a simulated crisis situation, all of you will be split up into pairs of two at random. Then two of these pairs will be randomly selected to go against one another. One team will be the villains and guard a mock bomb within a building. The other team will be the Heroes and attempt to secure the bomb before the time limit expires.

The students of Class 1-B all realized this would be an actual simulation of a crisis scenario, their first real test of operating as heroes. Masato however couldn't help but let himself have a giant smile on his face, this was going to be a lot of fun!

Vlad King: Now then all of you get changed into your Hero Costumes. We are heading to Ground Beta for this class.

Class 1-B: Yes Vlad-Sensei!

All of Class 1-B got up from their seats as they made their way to the locker rooms to change into their newly made hero costumes. Masato however couldn't stop smirking as this was potentially going to be their most exciting class yet!

Ground Beta
Half an hour later Class 1-B found themselves standing in front of what appeared to be a mock city.

This was Ground Beta, one of the many large scale training grounds U.A. had at its disposal. Class 1-B were led into Ground Beta, all of them dressed in their Hero Costumes. Masato was dressed in a simple skin tight black top, with pants of a lighter shade of black with white segments. He wore long black gloves that stopped a short amount before his shoulders. In his waist was a set of yellow belts that contained multiple pouches. On his feet was a pair of durable yellow sneakers.

Masato stretched his arms above his head as he let out a sigh and check the piece of paper he was given by Vlad King. One their way to Ground Beta he had given them each a slip of paper that had their partner's name written on it.

Masato: So I'm looking for Yui Kodai. I wonder who she is? I don't remember Vlad-Sensei ever calling on her during class or anyone with that name speaking up before.

Masato titled his head to the side in confusion as he had no idea where to begin looking for his partner in this lesson. However as Masato tried to think of a solution he felt a gentle tap on his shoulder. Masato turned around to see a girl with medium length black hair and blue eyes. She wore a mostly red and white costume that had a hat.

This girl was Yui Kodai, one of Masato's classmates and his partner for the Battle Trial.

Masato: Oh! Can I help you?

Yui: Mm....

Yui then held up a piece of paper that had Masato's name written on it causing his eyes to widen in realization.

Masato: Oh! You're Yui! Nice to meet you, I'm Masato Hironaka! Just call me Masato!

Masato offered his hand to Yui who stared at it for a moment before grabbing it and shaking it.

Yui: Mm....

Masato: Not much of a talker are you? That's alright people say I do enough talking for three people!

Yui nodded before they both stood side by side as they along with the rest of their classmates faced Vlad King who stood in front of the building the Battle Trial would be occurring in.

Vlad King: Now then, the Battle Trial will be contained to this one building. Each group will have half an hour to defend and diffuse the bomb. The matchups will be randomly selected just as all of your partners were. While each matchup is going through their trial, the rest of us will watch from the monitor room. Now the first matchup will be....

Vlad King held up a tablet as he punched in a few buttons as the device began randomly shuffling through the student pairs.

Vlad King: Togaru Kamikiri and Kojiro Bondo will be the Villains of the first trial!

Two students stepped forward, one who looked like a humanoid praying mantis, the other was rather tall, had yellow skin, and a head with multiple holes in it.

The teen that looked like a mantis was Togaru Kamikiri and the tall teen with the multiple holes in his face was Kojiro Bondo.

Vlad King: You two will guard the bomb and try and prevent the Hero team from capturing it.

Togaru: Sounds easy enough to me.

Kojiro: W-We'll try our best Vlad-Sensei.

Vlad King then pressed a button on the screen of the tablet again as it once again randomly began shuffling through the pairs randomly.

Vlad King: The Hero Team will be Masato Hironaka and Yui Kodai!

Masato smiled in excitement as he and Yui both stepped forward and joined their opponents in up front. Masato turned to look at Togaru and Kojiro, his smile not once leaving his face.

Masato: Good luck guys, this should be a lot of fun!

Kojiro: T-Thanks Masato. G-Good luck to you guys too.

Togaru however scowled at Masato and his smirk.

Togaru: We don't need luck, you're not even making it to the bomb room Rubber Boy!

Masato: That's the spirit! Now I'm really excited to get started!

Togaru looked at Masato in disbelief, did he really think him talking down to him was friendly banter? Vlad King however quickly got the class's attention before anything else could be said between the two pairs.

Vlad King: Now then Togaru, Kojiro both of you head inside and secure the room with the mock bomb. You will have ten minutes to prepare before Masato and Yui enter to begin their raid on the building.

Togaru and Kojiro nodded before they nodded and headed inside the building to prepare for Masato and Yui's attack.

Vlad King: Everyone else, follow me to the monitor room.

Class 1-B: Yes Vlad-Sensei!

Vlad King and the rest of Class 1-B walked off to setup in the monitor room while Masato and Yui stood in front of the building, waiting for the ten minutes to pass.

Ten Minutes Later
Masato and Yui looked at one another as the ten minute prep period was now over.

Masato: Should we get moving?

Yui: Mm!

Yui nodded before both she and Masato ran into the building, ready to capture the mooch bomb and win the trial.

Masato: You think it's on the third floor? I doubt it'd be on ground floor considering that would be way too easy.

Yui nodded her head in agreement as they both made their way to the staircase. Masato and Yui arrived at the stairs and noticed there were a few flights leading up to the third floor.

Masato: I have an idea to reach the next floor quickly. Do you trust me?

Yui looked at Masato for a moment before nodding her head.

Masato: Great! Okay grab onto to me and hold on tight.

Yui looked at Masato in surprise for a moment before nodding her head in agreement. Masato held up his arms as Yui wrapped her arms around his torso. Masato stretched his arms upwards as he grabbed onto the railing of the third floor. Masato shot up towards the floor with Yui hanging onto him.

Togaru: No you don't!

Masato and Yui turned their heads to see Togaru leaping towards them from the second floor, two large blades protruding from his arms.

Masato: Change of plans Yui!

Masato let go of the railing as his arms recoiled back to his body. Masato quickly stretched his arms to his back, grabbing Yui before spinning her around and tossing her up to the third floor. Yui clumsily landed on her butt on the third floor as Masato was tackled by Togaru.

Masato: Yui! Go after the bomb! I'll handle Togaru!

Yui looked down at her teammate in worry, but knew she couldn't waste time in this situation.

Yui: Mm!

Yui quickly opened the door to floor three and began running to find the room with the bomb. Masato however was slammed into a wall by Togaru who quickly leaped back and readied his arm blades.

Masato: So you wanna throw down? Good! After all that talk you did at the beginning it got me pumped up to fight you!

Togaru: How oblivious are you? Do you realize I was telling you that you have no hope of winning?

Masato smirked as he reeled back his left arm.

Masato: We'll see about that, this mission is far from over! Elasti-Sniper!

Masato's left arm stretched fifty feet behind him before he quickly threw a punch towards Togaru. Masato's fist slammed into Togaru's gut, sending the mantis teen stumbling backwards.

Togaru: Guess you do punch pretty hard, but it'll take a lot more than that to knock me out!

Togaru lunged towards Masato, both his arm blades raised and poised to strike. Togaru swiped his left arm blade at Masato who leaped backwards, narrowly avoiding getting slashed across the torso. However Togaru spun around and kicked Masato in the gut. Masato's torso stretched backwards as Togaru's foot slammed into his gut as he was sent sliding backwards. Masato smirked as he dug his heels in and reeled back his right arm as its stretched forty feet before he launched his fist towards Togaru. The mantis teen backflipped over the fist however.

Togaru: Do you honestly think I am stupid enough to fall for the same trick twice?!

Togaru landed feet first on the wall before kicking off of it, propelling himself towards Masato. Togaru readied both his arm blades as he flew towards Masato. Masato quickly reeled back both his arms before stretching both at the mantis teen. Masato grabbed Togaru by the shoulders, attempting to slow his momentum. However Togaru quickly spun around, slashing Masato's arms as shallow cuts were left on the teen's arms. Masato hissed in pain as his arms recoiled back to his body as he looked over the tears in the fabric in his gloves and the shallow cuts on his skin.

Togaru: Seems I was right, that body of yours is resistant to blunt force attacks, but you have no defense against bladed attacks!

Masato: Yeah, sharp objects don't like me to much. However if you think that's enough to take me down then you are in for some serious disappointment!

Masato reeled his right arm back as he stretched it forty feet behind him before throwing a punch at Togaru who lunges at Masato with his arm blades at the ready.

Togaru: I already told you I won't fall for the same trick twice!

Masato however smirked as he grabbed his extended right arm before pulling on it and releasing it.

Masato: Elasti-Scattershot!

Masato's arm began to bounce wildly as Masato's fist began to wildly bounce, causing his fist to erratically swing around.

Togaru's eyes widened in shock as Masato's fist slammed into the side of his head, punching him three times in the head. He was then punched another four times in the torso, and another five in the legs. Togaru was sent flying backwards before slamming into a wall. Togaru groaned in pain as he slid down the wall as Masato chuckled.

Masato: How's that? Not so predictable am I?

Togaru shakily stood back up as he shot a glare at Masato, readying his arm blades again.

Togaru: Okay, no more playing around! Let's get serious!

Masato: Now you're talking! Let's go!

Masato readied his fists before both he and Togaru both lunged at one another, both ready to strike.

With Yui
While Masato was battling against Togaru, Yui was busy running towards the room where the mock bomb was being held. Yui touched an empty oil barrel as purple energy surrounded the object. This caused the Oil Barrel to shrink to the size of a soda can. Yui placed the item in the pouch on her waist, alongside a few other items she shrank whilst making her way to the room.

Yui: Mm.....

Yui looked around until she spotted a door in the hallway. Yui quickly ran towards the door before throwing it open. Yui entered the room and found Kojiro standing guard in front of a large fake bomb.

Kojiro: S-Sorry Kodai, but I can't let you past me!

Yui: Mm....

Yui reached into her pouch before pulling out the shrunken oil barrel alongside a shrunken chair. Yui threw the barrel and chair at Kojiro before touching her hands together, causing the items to return to their original sizes. Kojiro helped as he ducked as the chair flew over him, but he wasn't so lucky with the oil barrel. The oil barrel hit the tall teen in the head causing him to let out a whine of pain as he clutched his head and stumbled backwards. Yui quickly lunged towards the bomb, hoping to touch it to win the trial.

Kojiro: N-No you don't!

A glue like substance was fired out of the holes on Kojiro's head and towards Yui. Yui quickly dove out of the way of the substance as it hit the ground before quickly drying. Yui locked eyes once again with Kojiro as they both began to circle one another. Yui quickly reached into her pouch once again and pulled out a hubcap that she threw like a frisbee at Kojiro before touching her hands together. The hubcap grew back to its original size as Kojiro quickly put his arms up in front of him to block the object from hitting him in the face. The hubcap hit Kojiro's arms, causing the teen to let out a hiss of pain.

Kojiro: I-I told you Kodai, I'm not budging!

Yui let out a frustrated groan as Kojiro fired more of the glue like substance from the holes on his face. Yui quickly dodged to the right, a tiny bit of the substance hitting her leg and quickly drying. Yui stepped back as she reached into the pouch on her waist, feeling around for anything else she shrunk down to throw. Yui felt her hand brush against one final object within her pouch. Yui pulled out was a fifty pound dumbbell.

Kojiro: W-What are you going to do with that?

A devious smile spread across Yui's face before she threw the dumbbell at Kojiro's right foot. Yui touched her hands together as the fifty pound dumbbell grew back to its original size before dropping onto Kojiro's foot, crushing it.

Kojiro: OWIE!

Kojiro yelled as she grabbed his right foot and whimpered in pain after it had been crushed by the fifty pound dumbbell. Yui took this opening as a chance to run towards the fake bomb, her arm stretched out towards the device. However Kojiro quickly fired more of that glue like substance at Yui, this time it hit the majority of her right leg, the substance hardened forming a shell. Yui nearly stumbled due to the lack of movement she now had with her right leg. Kojiro reeled back his right fist before punching Yui in the torso, sending the girl flying backwards before she rolled across the ground.

Kojiro: I-I'm not giving up just yet! Togaru is counting on me to keep this bomb safe!

Yui stood up as she looked down at her now trapped leg, as long as that substance was on her leg it would be difficult for her to make a break for the bomb. However a look of determination spread across Yui's face, her partner was counting on her to secure the fake bomb.

Kojiro: G-Guess you don't plan on giving up either.

Yui looked around the room, noticing the objects she had thrown littering the ground, some other objects placed in the room were also strewn about. If she wanted to continue her assault, she would need to reach those objects.

Yui: Mm!

Yui then awkwardly hobbled forward with her still trapped leg as Kojiro got ready to continue defending the fake bomb.

Monitor Room
While the battle between Masato and Togaru, and the battle between Yui and Kojiro raged on in the building. Vlad King and the rest of Class 1-B watched the two pairs go back and forth with one another.

Itsuka: Seems like neither side is letting up. Kamikiri seems to really have it out for Hironaka.

Reiko: At least he managed to throw Yui to the third floor so she could continue on her way to the bomb. Kamikiri could've easily held both of them up if Masato hadn't tossed her to safety.

Monoma however watched the fight between Masato and Togaru closely.

Monoma's Thoughts: Ingenious, Hironaka intentionally got Yui to safety while he remained behind to deal with Togaru, who is undoubtedly the stronger fighter. Masato may actually be a prodigy!

Monoma believing this was an elaborate plan instead of a spur of the moment decision. Vlad King however watched the monitors closely, impressed with Masato and Yui's willingness to trust one another despite this being the first time they've ever worked together.

Vlad King: Keep this in mind students, Hironaka and Kodai quickly put their trust in one another. In the world of Pro Heroes, your fellow Pros are the only people you can count on to help you.

Class 1-B: Yes Vlad-Sensei!

Everyone returned their attention towards the screen as they continued to watch the two fights unfold between the two pairs. However as the battles continued a worried expression spread across Reiko's face.

Reiko: Masato please be careful, Kamikiri isn't holding anything back.

Reiko focused on the shallow cuts that littered Masato's arms, hoping her friend wouldn't do anything too risky against an opponent that could seriously hurt him.

So the Battle Trial for Class 1-B has begun! Masato has been paired with Yui Kodai, a rather quiet girl. They are paired against Togaru Kamikiri and Bojiro Bondo. Togaru for some reason seems to have something against Masato. Meanwhile Yui is doing her best to secure the fake bomb, however Kojiro is proving to be a difficult opponent to get past.
