The scene picks up from the last chapter where the 1-A group avoided the all out assault and stood ready. One of the students sends their balls in the ground and the group all huddled up together.

Izuku: Where are they gonna apop out?

Kyoka: Get back, I'll handle this. (plugs earphone jacks into speaker gloves) SOUND AMPLIFICATION—AMPLIFIER JACK! HEARTBEAT DISTORTION!

She sends a shockwave in the ground that breaks the path before them. The balls came up and Mina acts fast.

Mina: ACID VEIL!

Mineta: Wow, thanks. That's such a great move.

Mina: It's my defensive special that creates a meaty wall.

Tokoyami: (merges with Dark Shadow) BLACK ABYSS!

Izuku: Cooler name.

Arcturus: And easier to say. 

Tokoyami: Now, Dark Shadow. PIERCING TWILIGHT CLAWS!

He nearly hits one of the students but they dodge. More students through their balls as Hitomi haphazardly set up a large force field to cover the back, blocking the balls that flew their way.

Hitomi: (thoughts) I can't cover everyone yet.

Arc's brain begins to think as he observes one of the students getting on the ground.

Shindo: (to his classmates) Outta the way. Their defenses are too strong, right now. I'll fix that.

Arcturus: Everyone, get ready!

Shindo: MAXIMUM FORCE—TREMORING EARTH!

All the sudden, the entire ground gets destroyed and sends everything flying. Hitomi stumbled as the ground beneath her shifted, losing her footing and falling down into one of the dips. She screamed as she felt the air blow through her hair, making a force field around herself as she hit the ground. 

The bluenette took a moment to gain her bearings once the tremoring had finally stopped, shaking the rubble out of her hair as she glanced around her. 

Hitomi: (thoughts) Oh, no.

The class had been separated.

(with Yoshiho) 

Yoshiho soared through the air, flying over Inasa as the announcement came that he'd singlehandedly taken out 120 examinees. The girl scoffed, using her quirk to slow down her fall as she neared the rooftop he was standing on. 

Yoshiho: Thanks for giving me less options, Yoarashi.

Inasa: (shot a glare) Go find your own people to fight, Koatsu.

Inasa turned to leave, his cape flowing behind him. Yoshiho huffed as he left, using her quirk to launch herself off the rooftop towards the river area. 

Yoshiho: (thoughts)  I need to hurry up.

(with Hitomi)

Hitomi scrambled to run away from a small group of students chasing her, using a force field behind her to block the balls they threw at her before launching it towards them, making them scatter as she ran into the forest area.

Hitomi: (thoughts) Fuck, fuck fuck fuck! I'm even farther away from the class now!

She ran through the forest, keeping an eye and ear out for anyone who could be hiding and ambush her. The bluenette continued to run through the trees, hearing the faint sound of rushing water up ahead.

She broke out of the forest, seeing a flowing waterfall that fed into a large river. Hitomi bent over as she stopped by the river bank, panting as she tried to catch her breath from that long run.

Hitomi: (thoughts) Lucky for me, it seems that no one's here. Although, it is a little odd this area's empty...

Hitomi's thoughts were interrupted by a faint beeping noise, the ground rumbling for a moment before a girl with a Shiketsu hat landed a ways away from her.

Yoshiho: Just one more...

The other student turned around, noticing Hitomi as her face settled into a hard glare.

Yoshiho: 

(with Arcturus) 

Arc soon finds himself on the ground and gets up from the attack.

Arcturus: Fucking hell, that's quite the quirk. (looks around) Oh man, we're split up. Was this Ketsubutsu's plan? I should try to find the others and work on passing. But honestly, seeing how strong these other students are is getting me excited.

Insticst suddenly kick in, and he barely dodges someone trying to hit his target.

Arcturus: (thoughts) That was too close. Where the hell did she come from?

???: Darn, I missed. You must really have good instincts if you can stare off into space like that. But, what's really weird is that you're in trouble and still smiling.

Arcturus: Well, after the stuff I've been through, I've learned to be more aware of my surroundings.

???: (laughs) You're pretty cool. In fights where a lot of one-on-one combat is expected, most people tend to go after opponents they've already got a lot of intel on, since it's safest. That's why I tracked you down, because there's the good possibility that UA's students will be ganged up on. See, I didn't wanna miss the chance to interact with such a prestigious school, and I've taken quite an interest in you. 

Arcturus: You're definitely a talker.

His body crackles with electricity and Arc runs in to hit the target. The girl barely dodges one and it turns into a one-on-one fight with the two striking and barely hitting the targets. The girl gets an upper hand and pins Arc on the ground while leaning very close from behind.

Arcturus: You're pretty fast for a non-speedster. Just disappearing nearly caught me off guard.

???: Oh. You think my quirk lets me disappear? That's not it. I was just hiding.

Arcturus: What?

???: Nope. That's just a technique. I make my opponent's eyes and ears blind and deaf to my presence. To do that, I hold my breath, clear my mind, and disappear. It's simple. The hardest part is not thinking, to be honest. The trick is to not view your training as some kind of chore. (chuckles) I'm glad we're learning about each other. Now, my question. Why exactly do you wanna become a hero? For honor? Pride? Or is it someone else's sake? Or perhaps to save a certain brother of yours? I wanna know your deepest desires, and what scares you.

Arcturus finally had enough and uses his chain whips to throw the girl off and run to a safe distance.

Arcturus: (thoughts) What is with this chick? She's giving a bad vibe that actually makes my skin crawl.

Before he could learn more, the two find themselves with more examinees appearing. Arc then decides to act fast and starts running in. Multiple attacks came in, and Arcturus runs in and takes out one person while hitting others away.

Arcturus: (thoughts) Okay, that's one. Just two more and I'm good.

???: Are you okay?

Arcturus: (sees Ochaco nearby) Ochaco!

Ochaco: (holds hand out) Over here. Hurry!

Ochaco is suddenly attacked by other students and Arc wastes no time on catching her and running a safe distance to hide. 

Arcturus: (sets Ochaco down, looks out past the rocks) You okay?

Ochaco: I'm fine. Thanks, sorry. I really messed up back there, huh?

Arcturus: You didn't. You were outnumbered. But the way...

Next thing he did, he smacks a ball Ochaco was holding as she was about to hit one of Arc's targets.

Arcturus: Who are you?

Ochaco?: (surprised) What?

Arcturus: Drop the facade. Uraraka's been working on her quirk a lot lately, enough to the point where she can avoid the side effects for a short period of time and make herself float without getting sick. But you didn't try to use it at all, even though you were in danger. Furthermore, you exposed yourself without a plan. That's nothing like Uraraka. So I'll ask again: Who are you?

???: (chuckles) If you saved me even though you knew I was a fake, does that mean your were trying to use me somehow?

All the sudden, the fake Ochaco starts melting, revealing the girl from earlier. Arc couldn't help but gasp as it caught him off guard.

Arcturus: No. I just ran in to help. And I'd do it again regardless. Because if you're not Uraraka, you couldn't have floated away back there. A fall from that height would've broken a bone or two.

???: Oh? I see now. So you're just that good of a guy, huh? Please, tell me more about yourself. Everything.

Arcturus: (thoughts) How about after the exam?

???: Does that mean you'll save anybody? Is there no boundary? Where do you draw the line?

Her shapeshifting stops and Arc's eyes widen as she was pretty much naked with mud still on her.

Arcturus: (respectfully looks away a bit) Ma'am, where are your clothes?! This is a school test!

???: I'll get dressed when my mission's complete.

Next thing she does was lunge in and scratches Arc a bit. He regains his balance strikes back.

Arcturus: (thoughts) Okay, she's more dangerous than I thought. It's like she's actually trying to do more than get me outta the test.

Before she could keep attacking, stands of tape go between them and Izuku nearly hits her with a kick.

Izuku: Arc, are you alright?

Sero: Farron! What's this enviable situation you're in?

Arcturus: Izuku, Sero!

Sero: Uruaka!

Ochaco: (flips in, touches her hands together) RELEASE!

She nearly touches the girl but she dodges away and flips back.

???: And here things were just getting good. Too bad. I really, really... wanted to talk to you some more. But not with so many people around. What a bummer. (looks at Ochaco, smiles) Ochaco Uraraka. He and Deku really trust you a lot, you know.

Ochaco: Huh?

Before she could explain more, she flips away from them.

Sero: Come back, naked girl!

Izuku: Don't follow her!

Sero: Aw, man, why not?

Izuku: It might've been just her quirk, but it doesn't look like she was wearing her clothes or her targets. There's still a chance she'll come after us. But we don't have much time and it would be hard to get a point off of her.

Arcturus: He's right. It's better to move on. Do you know where the others are?

Ochaco: No, we got separated. Shuri and Robbie are dealing with one group near the building area, I think Wanda went with Momo and a couple others in one of those buildings.

Izuku: And last I saw, Kaminari caught up with Kacchan and Kirishima. Other than that, we have no idea where everyone else could be.

Arcturus: Alright then. I have faith in the others that they'll pass, so for now, let's focus on passing ourselves.

Sero: So, what's the plan, boss?

Arcturus: I'd say take a page from their books.

(with Hitomi) 

Yoshiho: Oh. It's you.

Hitomi: (thoughts) She's from Shiketsu...!

Mera's voice crackled over the loudspeaker. 

Mera: Things are now moving right along! At present we have 52... no, 53 passing examinees. One after another...

Hitomi's face morphed into one of worry. 

Hitomi: Less than half slots left to pass...

She glanced at the Yoshiho, who was the only other person in the area.

Hitomi: (thoughts) This is my only option right now.

She grabbed a ball from her pack, holding it in her hand as the Shiketsu girl adjusted her hat.

Yoshiho: What's with that expression on your face?

Hitomi only looked at her in confusion before she felt herself suddenly get pushed back by an invisible force, crashing through the waterfall and down into the river. Luckily, she didn't lose her ball, her grip tightening on it as her head poked out of the surface, gasping for air.

Yoshiho jumped from her place on the ground towards Hitomi, the bluenette abruptly moving out of the way and climbing out of the water, her hero costume sopping wet.

Hitomi: (thoughts) I don't even know what her quirk is...! And no doubt, she'd definitely know from mine from the sports festival.

Hitomi began to panic, making force fields around herself in an attempt to dry off from the heat. Yoshino didn't even touch the water, her body just above it as if she were levitating. The water was rippling beneath her feet, concaving into itself as if it was being pushed down by air.

Yoshiho: You know, I can see it on your face. And it really pisses me off.

Hitomi: What are you even talking about?!

Yoshiho: Hitomi Kanetsukabe... semi-finalist of the sports festival. But... It looked like you didn't even want to be there.

Hitomi: Huh? 

Yoshiho: That worried expression on your face; I saw it there, too. Why do you always look like that?

Hitomi: I don't see how this matters...

The Shiketsu girl scoffed, her glare hardening. 

Yoshiho: What, are you stupid too?!

Yoshiho aimed her fist at Hitomi, the gauntlets around her wrist lighting up before a pulse seemed to emanate from her hand, her short auburn hair fluttering behind her. 

Hitomi jumped out of the way, diving behind a rock with the weight of her damp hero costume slowing her down.

Yoshiho: You seriously rub me the wrong way.

Hitomi glanced over the rock, seeing the Yoshino launch herself away from the river towards her. Hitomi dashed out of the way, the rock breaking apart from the girl's quirk as Hitomi rolled to the side.

Hitomi: (thoughts) What the hell?! She could've seriously hurt me!

Yoshiho landed on her feet, holding on to her hat as she turned to Hitomi, the glare on her face making Hitomi freeze.

Hitomi: Wh... What have I ever done to you?! Why are you so angry with me?

Yoshiho: I read your interview. From the sports festival. You said you lived in America, so tell me, do you know who the Koatsu family is?

Hitomi: ...No?

Yoshiho: (scoffed, grabbing a ball from her pack) Of course you wouldn't. Tell me, do you still even want to be here?

Hitomi: What? 

Yoshiho: Talking about how you're always unsure of yourself, about how you don't think you deserved to be there and all that crap... Why did you get to be praised by the world when even you believed you didn't deserve it?

They both heard Mera's voice over the loudspeaker again. 

Mera: Woah, looks like we're at 60 passing examinees now! Slots sure are filling up...

Hitomi shook her head, focusing on the girl in front of her. 

Hitomi: (thoughts)  This is no time for chatting. I need to tag people, now.

The Shiketsu girl tightened her grip on her ball, leering at Hitomi. 

Yoshiho: I suppose I'll settle for you as my second target.

Yoshiho aimed her fist at Hitomi again, the air pulsating as Hitomi haphazardly dodged her attack, trying to throw some force fields at the girl as she dove for cover.

Hitomi: (thoughts) She mentioned the Koatsu family... Is she the Yoshiho Koatsu everyone was talking about?

Yoshiho: Quit hiding already! 

The rock Hitomi was hiding behind suddenly broke apart, Hitomi feeling her body get launched by some invisible force again. She continued flying through the air before she felt herself hit a rough rock wall, feeling as if the air had been knocked out of her lungs.

Hitomi: (thoughts, struggled) I can't move...

Her body felt as if it was glued to the surface, like the weight of a planet was being pushed down on her. Yoshiho still had her arm outstretched towards Hitomi as she slowly approached her.

Yoshiho: I've noticed that even with your force fields, you're still bound by gravity. Trying anything will be useless against my quirk, so don't bother.

Hitomi struggled to move, trying to get her arms, her legs, anything out from being pinned to the wall. It was futile, and all Hitomi could do was panic as the Yoshiho drew closer.

Yoshiho: It seems like your performance at the sports festival wasn't a good gauge of your abilities. Back there, you knew the quirks of your classmates. But here? It looks like you're completely out of your element. Are you really sure you can be a hero? With a quirk like that? (scoffs) What a disappointment. No wonder you made Y/N hate you so much. 

Hitomi froze when the mention of his name was heard. 

Hitomi: (thoughts) Y/N...? How did she know his name? 

Hitomi faltered from her struggling, only staring at Yoshiho as the girl continued to walk towards her.

Yoshiho: You always seem doubtful, as if you're not sure you can do anything. Even now, it doesn't seem like there's anything you can do to stop me from tapping your targets.

Hitomi: That's not true! That's not true... I promised her I'd be able to...

Yoshiho: To what? 

???: In a way, she's right. 

A small voice chimed in the back of Hitomi's head.

???: You haven't really done anything to protect people like you said you would. Not at USJ, not when Izuku, Arc, and the others dealt with Stain... not even when Y/N became a villain after you broke his heart. 

Hitomi shook her head, trying to rid those thoughts from her mind.

Hitomi: (thoughts) Focus on what I can do now.

Hitomi: Even if I can't do anything now... (staring back at Yoshiho) there are people who believe that I can. Nari... my parents... they believe I can become a hero, and I can't disappoint them... I want to apologize to the boy I had feelings and save him from his pain and suffering!

???: But can you really become a hero?

The gravity pushing down on Hitomi from Yoshiho's quirk seemed to strengthen tenfold, the pressure practically suffocating as Yoshiho scowled at her.

Yoshiho: Oh, how sweet. How lucky of you that your parents support and believe in you, even though you can't really do anything. Isn't that just lovely?!

Yoshiho seemed angrier than ever before, dashing towards Hitomi with the intent to tag one of her targets.

Hitomi was surprised for only a moment before she suddenly remembered one of her super moves, calling out its name moments before Yoshiho could touch her.

Hitmoi: SUPERNOVA!

There was a blinding flash as Yoshiho was launched backwards from Hitomi's force field, finally letting go of the hold she kept on the bluenette.

Hitomi fell back to the ground, panting from anxiety that Yoshiho nearly disqualified her.

She stared at Yoshiho with a determined look on her face, while the auburn-haired girl glared back.

Present Mic: Yoshiho Koatsu. Quirk: Trajectory! Yoshino's quirk allows her to both rebel or attract things by using gravitational force to manipulate their direction. whether it be towards her or away from her. Her arms and legs act as anchor points where the gravitational force will emerge from, and overuse will leave her with a lot of muscle pain.

(with Robbie and Shuri) 

Off with two teammates, Ghost Rider and Shuri were fighting against multiple enemies.

Shuri: Think this is a lot?

Ghost Rider: It might be tougher if one more shows up.

Shuri: Hmph. Then that'll have to be the one I take care of. PANTHER ROAR!!!

Ghost Rider: HELLFIRE TORNADO!!

Their combos help take down some enemies and they jump through and took out their people and passed. Once they do, they see their targets glow blue and telling them where to go.

Robbie: (changes to human form) We're safe for now. I wonder how many of the others passed.  

Shuri: (deactivated mask) If we're lucky, most of the class is already there.

They head back, but unknown to them, in fact unknown to everyone, someone in black smoke was watching from up high.

???: So, that's where you've been hiding, huh? Alright, then. Let's see how long you'll go playing hero, Zarathos. (exits) 

(with Wanda) 

In one of the buildings, Wanda, Momo, Kyoka, Tsuyu, and Shoji were walking through the halls.  

Tsuyu: Having any luck, Shoji?

Shoji: It's no use. I can't see anyone from our class.

Tsuyu: Maybe they're in another area.

Wanda: Probably. That attack was strong enough to send us flying from the area. (to Momo) So, what's the plan, class dept.? Less than half the spots are left, so we should act now before finding the others.

Momo: Yes. That would be wisest. 

Kyoka: Shh! I hear four people climbing the stairs. Ten floors below. They're headed up here.  

Shoji: Are they planning to attack us?

Momo: I don't understand why there are only four of them if that's the case.

Wanda: Agreed. Something's off. The other schools were in large groups.

Tsuyu: Maybe their companions were defeated and they're running away to hide in here. 

Kyoka: No. That's not what this sounds like. They're not stopping on the other floors.

Momo: Are there more of them hiding somewhere? (thoughts) Is this a distraction or worse?

All the sudden, Kyoka screams in shock and pulls her jacks out of the wall.

Momo and Tsuyu: Jiro!/Are you okay?

Shoji: (pushes ear to the wall) There's music playing! It's not too bad for me. But hearing it suddenly must've been a huge shock for 

Jiro.

Tsuyu: So they must know Kyoka's quirk and were targeting her on purpose. Shoji: It's a coordinated attack.

Wanda: Shit

 Momo: This isn't good.

All the sudden, the windows began breaking, preventing Shoji from using his eyes. They realize they're planning an attack and Jiro tries to use an attack only for her left speaker glove to get destroyed and her left ear to get damaged. They then feel it getting colder and the building locks up and Tsuyu passes out.

Wanda: Tsuyu!

Momo: Her body's going into hibernation!

Shoji: Quick, make a lighter!

Momo: I can't. It'll trigger the sprinklers. 

Kyoka: An electric heater or something?

Momo: Our opponents have control over the air conditioner. They've probably turned off the electricity as well. (creates a blanket) Here's a blanket for now.

Wanda's eyes then flash red and she looks at the entrance to see them being sealed in. The others try to think of something, and Wanda finally speaks.

Wanda: Of course, it makes sense.

Momo: What does?

Wanda: I know what their plan is. I don't fully know how, but I can read their thoughts. 

Kyoka: Come on, Wanda, this isn't the time to joke.

Wanda: I'm not. It's hard to explain, but I know what they're thinking. They want Momo to use up her quirk and make something here. After that, they'll attack us and take the targets out.  

Momo: Of course, it makes sense. My quirk has many applications, but they most likely haven't account for that. 

Shoji: And then once you're powerless, they'll march right in and hit our targets.

Momo: Yes. So we can't use it. We'd be playing right into their hands. We wait for the need to arise, when there's no other option. 

Kyoka: But if we stay hiding in here, there's no possible way we'll pass the licensing exam! We should just charge out that door and attack them head on.

Wanda: Don't throw yourself out there like that, Arc! 

Kyoka: (surprised) Huh?

Wanda: (blinks a bit) Sorry, Kyoka. Don't run like that, Kyoka. If these guys predicted all of this, they know we might try that. 

Kyoka: Okay, fine, then what do we do?

Momo thinks about it, and begins to think what the others would do. Her mind then thinks back to what Arc and Izuku said the night they tried to save Wanda and Katsuki.

(flashback) 

Izuku: (steps forward to Iida) We know Arc and I are hurt. But if we can still move at all, then neither of us can just sit still.

Arcturus: Especially if we can help. 'Cause all I can think about is saving them. Throw me in jail, cut me in half. As along as I can still crawl, I will save them.

(flashback ended) 

The memory gives Momo motivation and decides to focus on saving the others.

Momo: Everyone, please, endure these conditions for a few more minutes.

They're all shocked as Momo begins to open the front of her vest and Shoji turns away out of respect.

Kyoka: (blushes) Hey, are you crazy?!

Momo: Just bear with me!

She creates five pairs of headphones.

Wanda: Huh? Headphones?

Momo: Please, put them on.

She then gets on the ground and her back begins to glow.

Momo: It's the first time I've made this device, but its structure isn't all that complicated. I'll just save enough lipids so I can still move. And make it as big as possible.

From her back, a large rectangular object appears.

Kyoka: Wait, is that...?

Wanda: (smile) Now I see what you're going for. Nice!

It wasn't long before they got it set up, and it was a large speaker. With her good jack, Kyoka plugs into the speaker and releases a sonic attack that shakes the whole area. 

Kyoka: The headphones help, but the force is rattling my body.

Tsuyu: (weakly) Ribbit.

Shoji: Asui, are you all right?

Wanda: Just hang on a little longer.

Momo: Please, everyone. Seven more seconds and it'll be over. Six... Five... Four... Three... Two... One.

Once it stopped, they exit the room and saw a whole group of girls in military outfits knocked out. 

Kyoka: All right! We rocked this!

Wanda: Good work, Yaomomo.

Momo: (panting, smile) Now hit their targets.

Shoji: You got it. (sets Tsuyu down) Can you move?

Tsuyu: Yeah. Ribbit. I'll be okay.

Momo: Oh, thank goodness.

As she walks to join the others, someone suddenly grabs her and brings her back into the room, shutting the doors. 

Kyoka: No!

Without hesitation, Wanda uses her quirk to rip the doors open and she and Tsuyu stop the girl named Saiko from striking Momo's targets.

Momo: You guys!

Saiko: (shocked) But, why did you come back? Surely you assumed that I'd already hit all three of her triggers? We're in the middle of the licensing exam. You should be thinking of yourselves, not your other classmates.

Wanda: And that's why you lost. 

Saiko: Huh? 

Kyoka: That might be how you roll, but not us. We're obviously different.

Tsuyu: She's our friend. Which means we'd never leave her behind.

Shoji: And we don't give up.

Momo: (stands up) It's how Class 1-A is. We look out for each other.

Wanda: Yeah. So if you mess with one of us, you'd better be ready to take on all of us. 

Saiko grits her teeth, but accepts defeat.

Saiko: (smile) As expected of U.A.... You've defeated me completely.

Chapter 24 ended.
