Hero...without a purpose...

"Man, this is frustrating. I can never get a decent challenge nowadays." I grumbled, stepping out of the boxing ring. My name is Rika Kawagoe. I may be the strongest person I know. My quirk, "Zenkai" is a little broken as far as quirks go. When it activates, it absorbs all the kinetic energy I take and adds it to my own physical power. Basically, the more punches I throw and the more punches I take, the stronger my punches become. The problem is it's ALWAYS there, so I've become... too strong. I can end all my fights in just one punch. It was fun at first, but after a while, it just got boring. I crave a challenge again. As a result of this condition, I've lost any sort of connections to my emotions. Anger, sadness, joy... I feel nothing anymore. In exchange for overwhelming power, I've lost something vital for being human. It doesn't help that people are scared of me. They're afraid of what I can do. I don't blame 'em. The only person I can think of that could give me a challenge is All Might, the strongest hero ever. With his level of power, he could do some major damage. Other than him, no one can challenge me. I looked through the hole in the wall shaped like my opponent. It was night time. I walked out of the building, heading back to my house. I live alone in an apartment downtown. My parents live in the suburbs right outside of town. Even they're too scared to be around me. It's been like this since I was 12. It all started after I beat up some punk in the park. He was strong, I'll give him that. That's also when I learned something about my quirk. Fire adds to my strength two times faster that punches or kicks. He could set things on fire with the sweat coming from his palms. I sent him to the hospital with one punch. I didn't mean to. It just kind of... happened. Anyways, I reached my apartment, quickly changing into my night clothes. As I changed, I noticed a letter on the mat behind the door. Picking it up, I used a butter knife to open it. It read:

"Dear Rika, congratulations again on making into U.A. High! Be sure to arrive on time for school tomorrow!
                                                    -All Might!

"Oh yeah. I almost forgot about that. I should probably get some sleep, in that case." I said to myself. I decided to join U.A. as a way to further my goal. If I do well, I could make being a hero my full time job instead of a hobby. I knew I'd do well during the exam to get in, but some didn't have as much luck. Like the guy I was teamed up with: Izuku Midoriya. The guy was terrified of everything in the battle center. While I managed to destroy seventeen three point robots, Midoriya barely managed to take down ONE. Granted, it was a whole lot bigger than the others, but it was still only one. I could've taken it, but I decided to see how the others would handle it. They took it down surprisingly quickly. Regardless, I passed with flying colors and was given my student card, which allowed me into the school in the first place. "Hmm... maybe I'll finally find a person who can give me a challenge at U.A. Man, I hope I do. The longer this keeps up, the more my emotions evade me." I said to myself, setting my alarm. This is the fifth alarm clock I've gone through this month. As I drifted off to sleep, I couldn't stop thinking about who or what could finally give me a real fight again.

(Next morning)

*RING!*
*RING!*
*SMASH!*

"Well, there goes another one. Guess I'll have to pick up a new one." I said, looking at the smashed pieces of alarm clock sitting on my nightstand. I picked up the clock face and looked at it. About ten minutes until class starts. Not a problem. I took a quick shower, brushed my teeth and got my uniform on. It's a little uncomfortable, but it's not the worse feeling in the world. I grabbed my backpack and ran out the door. I flew past different people and buildings, faster than most can see. In two minutes, I was at the entrance. In another minute, I found my homeroom. Class 1-A. As I entered the room, I took my seat, near the back of the room. Two students were arguing near the front of the room. One had short spikey blonde hair with his shirt unbuttoned and his tie untied. He had his feet up on a desk. Clearly he thinks he's all that. The other was kinda tall with bluish black hair and glasses.

"Take your feet off of that desk now! It's the first day and you're already disrespecting this Academy by scuffing school property, you cretin!" The standing student yelled. The other one laughed.

"You're kidding me, right? Did your old school put a stick up your ass? Or were you born with it?" He replied. As I watched them bicker, I noticed the door open. I walked over to the door, seeing who opened it: Midoriya. I smiled, trying to seem happy.

"Hey, Midoriya! Nice to see you got in too!" I said. Midoriya chuckled and rubbed the back of his head.

"Y-yeah. I knew you'd get in for sure. I mean, that punch of yours: it's unbelievable!" He said in amazement.

"Well, I wouldn't say that. That one punch you had was pretty amazing. I don't think I could top that." I said, trying to make him feel better. Suddenly, Midoriya looked terrified. "Hmm? What? Is there something on my face?" What's got him so spooked? I turned around and saw everyone in the room looking at me and Midoriya. "Oh. Hey everybody." I said, waving happily. Midoriya looked away in fear. "Well, good luck, buddy. I'll leave this to you." Just as I was about to walk back to my seat, I noticed someone behind Midoriya. They were a small girl with brown hair and brown eyes. She was shorter than Midoriya by about three inches. If I could feel emotions, I might be attracted to her.

"Hey, I recognize that messed up hair!" She said happily. It's clear to me she and Midoriya have met before, just from her excitement alone. Midoriya turned red as a tomato. She then turned to me. I was cleaning out my ear with my pinkie. "I remember you too! You were the guy that destroyed all those three point robots with one punch! That was so cool!" She said. I smiled.

"Yeah. I was hoping for a challenge." I replied.

"If you're just here to make friends, you can pack up your stuff right now." A voice said behind her. I looked to her left to see someone in a sleeping bag on their side in the middle of the hallway.

"Oh. Hey." I said casually. Everyone else looked a little spooked.

"Welcome to U.A.'s hero course." He said, unzipping his bag a little and taking a drink of something. He then stood up and fully unzipped his bag. "It took eight seconds before you all showed up. That's not gonna work. Time is precious. Rational students would understand that. Hello, I'm Shota Aizawa, your teacher." He said, looking very tired. He looks like he's been through a lot. He then pulled out a bunch of strange clothes. "Right. Let's get to it. Put these on and head outside." He tossed me a uniform and I caught it, examining it.

"Stylish."
