Regrowth: Part 1 (Hawks)
"Hey Hawks?" I asked quietly as I knocked on his bedroom door. I didn't hear anything as I stayed quiet waiting for him to answer.
But to no surprise, there wasn't one.
I decided to risk it and opened the door a little bit. I peaked inside, and saw the room was completely dark.
I walked in and closed the door behind me, not wanting to completely disturb him. I carefully walked in trying not to trip on anything.
Until I fell to the ground, and felt like I just ripped my pinkie toe off.
"Mother fucker." I sighed through my teeth and got back up after a moment.
I managed to get over to the window and pulled the curtains back a little bit. Not much, but just enough that I could see in the room.
"Mmmmm!" I heard grumpy groaning coming from the bed. I turned around and saw Hawks in his bed burying his face in a pillow.
I smiled a little and walked over to the bed, stepping around the fallen chair that I had kicked on my way to the window.
I sat down on the edge of the bed and looked at his upset body.
"Hawks you need to get out of bed." I told him.
"Screw off." He told me and rolled away from me. I sighed and shook my head.
"That's not a very nice way to speak to your intern." I cooed, before I got off the bed and headed for the bathroom.
As I started a bath, my mind couldn't help but run through what's happened in the last three years.
In the beginning I had some how miraculously got a role as one of Hawk's interns along side my classmate Tokoyami when we were first years.
Which we both found strange as I don't have a bird quirk, and Hawks really shouldn't have any interest in me.
My quirk is Art Manipulation. Any artwork that I create myself, I can bring to life and use until it's useless or destroyed. I've spent my whole life studying drawing, and have become kind of famous online for my personal artworks.
But nonetheless Hawks took me in. And we trained, and patrolled, and worked, and laughed, and fought along side each other for the longest of times.
That was until three months ago. When Hawks lost his wings.
He's spent the entire three months lounging about his bedroom, never coming out.
I'm pretty sure he'd be dead if it wasn't for me coming to visit him every night.
At first it was him telling me to leave, and me listening. But eventually I got tired of his crap and started staying longer.
Tokoyami had to move on to another hero and agency for his work study, and so no longer had the time to be able to visit Hawks. But I refused to give up on Hawks. And as long as I was to keep my grades up, I didn't have to switch over to another agency.
I turned the water off, and got up before walking back into the bedroom.
"Hawks come on the bath is ready." I said and pulled on his arm.
"God damn it Kid! Just leave me the fuck alone!" He yelled and shoved me.
I tried to catch my footing, but I couldn't and tripped over my own feet. My head slammed into he corner of the same chair I had tripped on before.
"Ah!" I cried and tried not to pass out or cry. I held the back of my head for a minute and turned over onto my stomach.
"Kid! Are you alright?" Hawks asked as he was suddenly next to me. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to shove you that hard, let me see."
I smacked him away from me and looked at my hand that I had touched my head with. There was quite a bit of blood, and it was even dripping down my wrist.
"Get in the tub." I growled.
"Your head." He said and tried reaching for me.
"Get in the fucking tub!" I screamed at him and he jumped. He slowly stood up and walked into the bathroom.
I sat on the floor for another minute and kicked the chair away from me, hoping I would stop hitting it with my body.
Slowly but surely I pulled myself off the floor, and walked into the bathroom. I leaned against the counter and I ignored Hawks in the bathtub for the time being and turned the sink on.
Luckily his sink was large enough I could fit my head under it and washed out the blood from my head.
I flinched and hissed as the water made contact with the gash on the back of my head. I continued to wash my hair and head until the water ran clear in the sink.
I wrapped my head and hair in a towel and finally faced Hawks. He had his knees to his chest, and had been watching me. When I turned to him he turned his face away from me, and looked at the wall. I sat on my knees next to the tub and grabbed some soap before rubbing it into his hair. I felt him relax under my fingertips, as I massaged his scalp.
"Are you okay?" He asked, and refused to look away from me.
"I'm fine." I told him. He watched me as I ran my fingers through his hair, but I didn't say anything.
The entire time that I helped him in the bath, I didn't say a word. Which was unusual for me, since I always took the opportunity to catch him up on what was going on in school, stupid drama that was going on, so on so forth.
I rinsed him off, and stood up to grab him a towel. But as I turned around it was like the floor was rushing up to me.
