Freak: Part 5 (Tokoyami)

I pulled my favorite sweatshirt out of my closet and slipped it over my head. Tucking my arms under it, and slipping a pair of ripped black jeans on. I slipped my sneakers on before I walked out the door with my purse hanging across my body.

I knocked on Tokoyami's door and waited a couple of moments before he opened it.

"Ready?" I asked him. He was wearing much of the same as I was, but his jeans weren't ripped. I couldn't help but laugh.

"Should I change?" He asked me seeing the same thing that I was.

"No, you look perfect." I told him and grabbed his hand. He shut the door to his dorm and I dragged him out of the building and into the city, but only for a short while. I dragged Tokoyami to a restaurant and we both ordered to-go before I started dragging him out of the city.

"You're not going to murder me out here . . . are you?" Tokoyami asked as he let me drag him towards a trail.

"I promise I won't kill you." I told him, and the trail opened up to an open area, where there was only one tree standing. "Not out here anyway."

"That doesn't make me feel much better." He told me and I set the bag of food down in the grass for a moment before I started working. I stood at the base of the tree as I started crafting a webbing a hammock with my webbing. Once I was done, I attached the other end to a branch with a long thick thread of silk.

"Come on, sit." I told Tokoyami as I held it still for him. He sat on one side and looked a little uneasy with the fact that it moved so much. I climbed in after him and handed him his box of food.

"So why did you bring me out here?" He asked me.

"You'll see why in a little bit." I told him.

From there we made small talk. Talking about the sports festival, our classmates, and other things that we liked.

"Oh, it's happening!" I said excitedly and accidentally interrupted Tokoyami with what he was talking about. But I moved our containers of food to the side and pulled Tokoyami down deeper into the hammock. We laid down next to each other, shoulder to shoulder.

"What's happening?" Tokoyami asked, after a moment and I couldn't help but smile.

"Just look up and wait." I told him. We both laid there and waited for what would happen once the sunset.

We both stared for a couple more moments before it was almost like the sky changed in the blink of an eye. One moment it was a beautiful orange and pink sky with golden fluffy clouds. Then the next, it was a deep dark blue. Pretty little lights covered the sky and it was almost like the clouds disappeared.

"Wow." Tokoyami said under his breath.

"I told you." I told him. We laid there staring up at the stars and it was almost like the stars started moving.

I sat up and watched as the field lit up with fireflies. I smiled and watched them flutter around. Dark Shadow tried to catch one but with them being so tiny, and the fact that they were light, made it a bit difficult.

I held my hand out as one of the little litterbugs slowly landed on my finger. I held it lightly so that Dark Shadow could take a better look at it. It was like watching a cat that was completely mesmerized by a bug.

Tokoyami laughed a little bit as the little lightning bug flew away and once again Dark Shadow tried to catch it. I laid back down and watched as Dark Shadow continued to try and catch the fireflies.

"This is nice." Tokoyami said. "How did you even find this pace?"

"I don't remember how I found it." I told him. "I think my dad used to take me out here when I was little. Then at some point, he just stopped. Then whenever stuff got rough with school, or at home . . . . I just remember coming out here and watching the sky."

"It is very peaceful." Tokoyami told me. "This is a very nice place to seek relaxation before our Sports Festival."

"How do you think we'll do?" I asked him.

"I think we will do well." Tokoyami said. "With us being in the hero course rather than general studies and such, it does put us at an advantage."

"Only thing is, is that I don't know anyone." I told him. "Everyone has been going to school together for a while, and I'm the new kid. You guys know each other's quirks, and have an idea on weaknesses."

"If you would like, we could invite Midoriya to join us for training over the weekend." Tokoyami told me. "He's very observant when it comes to quirks, he might be able to catch you up."

"I suppose that would be nice." I told him. "I just hope I do well enough to make a statement."

"What kind of statement?" Tokoyami asked and rolled over onto his side with his head in his hand.

"A statement to my old classmates." I said. "That I'm not as bad or weak as they think I am."

"Well, I think you'll do great." He told me before sitting up. "Shall we head back to the dorms? I'm sure we're going to want to get a full night's rest for training tomorrow."

"You're right." I said and we both got out of the hammock and started heading back. "I hope you enjoyed our little date. If that's what you want to call it."

"I would very much like to call it that." Tokoyami told me. "I would also very much like to do something like this again."

"Me too." I told him, and we walked back to the dorms in comforting warm silence.
