Freak: Part 1 (Tokoyami)

"Class we have a new student." Mr. Aizawa said as I walked into the classroom. I kept my head down a bit in order for my hair to cover my eyes, while a mask covered the bottom half of my face. "Would you like to introduce yourself?"

"My name is y/n l/n." I said. "And I have a spider quirk." Short and simple.

"Thank you, please have a seat." Mr. Aizawa said and I sat down in the only empty seat. Nothing much else was said thankfully, and we started class. Although I couldn't help but sneak peeks at the boy beside me. He had a bird's head, and for some reason, I was very interested in him.

He kind of reminded me of myself a bit. I couldn't quite tell what it was though. The only thing I could read from him was that there was more to him than meets the eye.

He suddenly looked in my direction, and I looked away from him. I hadn't meant to stare, but I couldn't help but sense a feeling that there was something different about him.

When I looked back over towards him, and he had his head in his hand blocking me from being able to really look at his face.

After the class was over, I gathered my things before tapping his shoulder before he could leave.

"I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable, staring." I told him. "That wasn't my intention."

"If you don't mind me asking, what was your intention?" He asked me.

"Oh, to be honest, I don't really know." I told him. "There's just something about you that piques my interest."

"Would that be my face perhaps?" He asked, and he sounded annoyed.

"Well that was the first thing that caught my eye, but there's something else that kept my interest." I said and scratched the back of my head.

"And that would be?" He asked, and we walked out of the classroom together.

"It's kind of hard to explain." I laughed. "As part of my quirk, I have in other words 'spider-sense'."

"I see, perhaps what you are feeling is my quirk." He offered. "My name is Tokoyami Fumikage." He offered his hand out to me. I shook his hand.

"Y/n." I said. "If you don't mind me asking, what is your quirk?"

"It's called Dark Shadow." Tokoyami told me. "If you would like to see it, I could show you."

"Well, you have piqued my interest." I told him. We walked together towards the dorms, and he explained that it would be easier to show me his quirk in a darker setting. As it was very bright outside, and I agreed to go somewhere darker.

"I don't really like the sun too much either." I told him. "I don't mind it, but I would really rather be in the dark."

"I am much in the same." Tokoyami told me. "Would you say it's a spider thing to want to be in the dark?"

"I suppose so." I laughed a little bit.

We then walked up to our rooms that were conveniently just down the hall from each other. He went to his room, and I walked down the hall to my room and left the door open as I set my bag down. I sat down at my desk and started taking some work that I had to get started on when I felt like there was someone behind me.

I turned to see Tokoyami just in the doorway about to knock. He jumped a bit, before laughing to himself a bit.

"It looks like you really do have a spider's sense." He commented. "May I enter your room?"

"Yes." I told him, I couldn't help but find it a bit funny with how formal he was.

"Please tell me if you get too scared." He told me before a large shadow erupted from him. It slithered around my room and caused my hair to flow around. I looked up at the large shadow, and I couldn't help but be amazed.

The shadow's shape resembled Tokoyami very much. And I couldn't help but stare at it.

"Now I can see why I had that feeling." I laughed a bit. I stood up off my chair and held my hand out. "May I?"

"Dark Shadow doesn't usually take well to others. Specifically new people." Tokoyami told me, and I still offered my hand out to Dark Shadow.

"You should cower in fear, spider." The shadow spoke, and I laughed.

"Yet here I stand offering pets." I said, and the shadow flinched. It looked at Tokoyami for a moment before racing at me. It wrapped a pair of arms around my body and lifted me off the ground, before laying its head on my shoulder.

"What is it doing?" I asked, and petted Dark Shadow's head.

"It looks like Dark Shadow likes you." Tokoyami told me, and I hugged the shadow back. "If you don't mind me asking. But do you have more than two eyes?" I jumped at his question and realized that because of Dark Shadow, my hair had flown away from my face.

I quickly covered my face and turned away from Tokoyami.

"Yeah, I do." I said.

"Why hide them? Doesn't that affect your vision?" He asked me and Dark Shadow set me down in my chair. However, it still decided to lay in my lap, and cuddle with me a bit more.

"Yeah, it does most of the time." I answered honestly.

"May I?" He asked as he stepped closer to me. I fiddled with my hands, but I didn't object. He moved my hair away from my face, and examined my extra pair of eyes. "Your eyes are quite lovely, I can't see why you would want to hide them away."

"Growing up . . . . ." I started but didn't really want to keep going. "People don't really like spiders."

"I understand." Tokoyami said and rested his hand on my shoulder. "Is it the same story with your mouth?" He pointed at my mask. I covered it with my hand and nodded. "Then perhaps you should speak with Shoji. He's been in a similar situation."

"Really?" I asked, and he nodded.

"Some other classmates of ours is going out for food in a while, would you like to join us?" Tokoyami asked.

"Are you sure it would be alright?" I asked. "I mean I'm so new, I don't want to intrude."

"You have to meet our classmates at some point." He said, and headed towards the door. "I don't think they'll mind too much."
