Fearscape: Part 6 (Bakugo)
I sat on my bed reading a book, and was listening to music. That was until there was rapid banging on my door. I looked at the time, and it was eleven at night.
I hurried off my bed, and rushed to the door as the banging only got worse.
Opening it, I saw a scared Kirishima panting.
"It's Bakugo." He said. And that's all he needed to say. I rushed out the door and followed him all the way to Kaminari's room. But once we reached the floor, I didn't need Kirishima to guide me anymore. I could hear the screams.
I walked into Kaminari's room and saw him, Sero, and Mina trying to shake him awake. But he wasn't waking up.
I looked down at my hands and realized I didn't bring a sweatshirt with me.
I grabbed a spare blanket off the floor, and they moved out of the way as I covered Bakugo and pinned him down with my body.
"Bakugo, come on wake up." I told him and tried shaking him. But it wasn't working.
"We've been trying he won't respond." Sero told me. I took in a breath as I watched him whip his head back and forth. The amount of tears and sweat that was pouring off of him, was almost as bad as the first time I'd seen him this way.
"I'm sorry." I whispered to him and I cupped his face in my hands, and kept his head still as his screams only got worse.
I didn't know what else to do, other than scare him out of the nightmare.
It took about ten seconds before he suddenly jolted awake, and I immediately pulled the blanket up and in between the two of us.
"Y/n." He cried and pulled me on top of him.
"Hey, hey, hey." I said calmly to him, and rubbed his face. "You're okay. You're in Kaminari's room. You're with me, Mina, Kirishima, Sero, and Kaminari." I told him, and got him to sit up with me in his lap.
His face was buried in my chest, and I was rocking us back and forth. He cried into my chest, and I wrapped the blanket around him.
"Shh." I breathed quietly, and slowly his breathing came back down. "You're okay."
After a couple minutes of holding him like a baby, he finally pulled away from me slightly. I looked down at his face. He looked exhausted from crying, and he was hiccupping a bit.
"Bakugo, you can go back to sleep now." I told him, and tried to get him to lay back down.
"No!" He blurted out, and held me closer to him.
"Okay, do you want to come back to my room with me?" I asked him. He nodded into my chest, and I wrapped the blanket around him tighter. I helped him stand up and guided him out of the room as his friends watched.
I guided him all the way to my room and I got him to lay down in my bed. I tucked him into my blankets and took the blanket that I had wrapped around him.
"I'll be right back." I told him, and he jumped a little bit. "I'm just going to take the blanket back. I promise I'll be right back." I told him and he relaxed on my bed a bit.
I walked back to Kaminari's room and knocked on the door.
"Y/n, hey!" Kaminari said as he answered the door.
"Hey, I just wanted to return the blanket I kind of stole." I said and handed it to him.
"Oh it's okay." He laughed and walked back into his room leaving the door open. "Will you come in for a minute?"
"Sure." I said and walked in, closing the door behind me. He gestured for me to sit next to him on the bed, and him and his friends stared at me as I did so.
"Kiri told us about what's been going on." Mina said. "How he's been having nightmares."
"He hasn't been having them lately though." Kirishima said, and I couldn't help but laugh a little.
"Have you been helping him with his nightmares?" Sero asked me, and I nodded.
"I've been staying in his dorm room every night for almost two weeks. It's why you haven't been scared awake by screams." I told them and they all flinched. "You guys can't tell him I told you. You guys know how sensitive he is about this kind of stuff."
"We won't say anything." Kaminari told me.
"We just kind of wish that he'd be more honest about this stuff." Mina said, and the boys nodded.
"It's not his fault, or your guy's." I told them. "He just never really learned how to ask for help."
"Can you talk to him?" Sero asked me.
"I've suggested it before." I told them. "He's very stubborn though."
"That's Bakugo for you." Kirishima said, and we all laughed a bit.
"I'll talk to him again." I said as I stood up.
"Hey." Kaminari said as I opened the door. "Thanks for taking care of our boy." I smiled and nodded to them.
"Goodnight you guys." I told them and walked back to my room. When I walked in, I saw Bakugo sitting up hugging one of my pillows. I grabbed my sweatshirt and put it on before trying to approach him.
"Hey." I said quietly and sat next to him, careful not to startle him. He looked up at me for a moment before looking away from me. He was embarrassed. "Bakugo it's okay."
"No it's not." He told me.
"Yes it is." I told him and scooted closer to him. "Everyone has nightmares here and there."
"They're going to judge me now." He said and buried his face in my pillow. "They're going to think I'm weak."
"No they're not." I told him and carefully rubbed his arm. "I promise that they understand. And they're worried about you. They want you to open up to them about this."
"But it's none of their damn business." He said.
"Bakugo, it's more their business than it is mine." I told him. "But here I am in the middle of it."
"If I'm such a bother, then I'll just leave." He said and went to get up but I pushed him back onto the bed.
"I didn't say that." I said and he turned his head away from me. "You're not a burden, or a bother. I mean you are a pain in the ass, but I think that just comes with knowing you."
He let out a breath, and I could tell he was trying not to laugh at that.
"Bakugo, it's okay to have feelings." I told him. "And it's just as okay, if not more, to tell your friends about them. I mean hell, up until tonight Kirishima only knew about me helping you once, but he still came running for me."
Bakugo didn't say anything and I sat next to him.
"Can you . . . . ?" He started to ask but he cut himself short.
"Can I what?" I asked him softly.
"Can you . . . . can you hold me?" He asked me.
"Of course." I told him. I went to lay down and hold him how I usually do, but before I could even move he was on top of me. He plopped himself down with his face in my chest, and sighed.
I moved my legs out of the way and he snuggled into my body further. I was a bit shocked with how affectionate he got suddenly. Sure, he was affectionate when he was upset and wanted to be held, but this felt different.
I placed my hands on his back and rubbed with my fingers, massaging his back a bit. Playing with the ends of his hair, careful not to touch his scalp.
"Do you want me to read to you?" I asked him as I reached for my book I was reading before Kirishima had started banging on my door.
"Please." He said, and I felt his body shake a little bit, like he was about to start crying again. I smiled and kept rubbing his back with one hand and held my book in the other.
He allowed my voice to lull him to sleep. And even after I heard his light snores, I continued to read to him to keep the nightmares away.
