Chapter 50
"Hey, y/n?" I heard behind me I looked to see Sero walking toward me and Mina on the couch.
"Hey Sero, what's up?" I asked him and Mina squeezed on me. She didn't like that I had my attention on someone else at the moment.
"I was wondering if, I could talk to you for a minute?" He asked and seemed a little nervous. I could also smell some cologne coming off of him. It wasn't much, but enough to turn heads at how good it smelled.
"No!" Mina yelled and tucked her head up and under my chin. "It's my day with y/n."
"Mina, you waited all day at school to have me for the day." I reminded her. "I think you can wait two more minutes."
She grumbled her disagreement but didn't argue either. She rolled herself off my lap and faced away from me as protest. I laughed to myself before hugging her from behind and kissing her neck a bit. She started melting almost instantly, but because she was still upset resisted the urge to look at me.
"I will be right back beautiful." I told her. She mumbled an 'okay', with less of an attitude and I handed her the remote. "How about you pick us something to watch when I come back?"
"Ok." She said, still a bit grumpy, but a little happy since she got to pick the movie. I stood up off the couch and looked back at Sero. He was really nervous.
Sero turned away from me and started walking away with me following. He took me towards the front door where no one was around, and with the rainy weather out no one would be expected to be coming in or out. We were good to be left alone over here.
"So what did you want to talk about?" I asked Sero, as he was slow to turn around to look at me.
"I was . . . . um." He started, trying with everything he had to not stutter. "Wondering if you would want . . . to maybe, I don't know."
"Go on a date?" I asked for him. He flinched a little bit but didn't panic as I was able to put the pieces together for him.
"Yeah." He said after taking a breath, now that the big thing was out of the way. "I know dates, are probably not really your thing-."
"Why wouldn't I want to go on a date?" I asked him. I wasn't offended, it was obvious for people to assume that I'd probably want to skip the date entirely, and skip straight to fifth base. Unfortunately, Sero didn't sense the lack of offense and started to panic.
"That's not what I meant!" He said, and I watched as he turned white. "I meant more about how you haven't gone on any dates since you got here, and you're with the other guys. But I don't want to call you a slut or anything, I just meant I can tell you haven't really been on a date recently. Not that there's anything wrong with not going on dates, I mean I've never had a date before. But that doesn't mean I-." I couldn't help but start laughing, which caused Sero to stop in his tracks.
"I would love to go on a date." I told him.
"Really?" He asked, and some of the blood returned to his face.
"Yes." I told him. "You're right, I haven't been on a date in a long time. And that I'm usually not one for dates."
"Then why would you agree to go on a date with me?" He asked, now that he had calmed down and any possibility of him making an ass of himself was already out of the way.
"Because it means a lot to you." I told him. "I can see your desire to be a bit more old school. Dates, the more flirty stuff before anything serious happens."
"Why would you agree to a date though, especially if I'm going to be basically wasting your time?" He questioned me, but I couldn't help but smile.
"Cause I like you." I told him straight up. His face turned bright red. "I might be wanting to jump into something immediately with our classmates, but that was also an equal feeling in return. You don't have an equal feeling to take that jump, and I'm not going to disrespect that."
"Oh." Sero said as he thought it over a little bit. "Well, I appreciate that." He told me, making sure to look me in the eye to know that he really meant it when he said it.
"You're welcome." I told him. "Now when?"
"When what?" He asked.
"When is our date?" I asked him, spelling it out a bit more for him.
"Oh!" He breathed out and thought for a moment. "Tomorrow?"
"What time?"
"Seven o'clock?"
"Should I eat before?"
"Recommended."
"Where are we going?"
"Surprise, but we'll meet out front."
"Clothes?"
"Also recommended." I smacked his arm. "Somewhat nicer, but comfortable." He corrected himself.
"Anything else?"
"Make sure you can be on your feet for a while."
"And how about my knees?"
"What?"
"What?" I asked, coming out of a bit of a trance of asking questions. Sero looked at me a bit weirdly, but didn't push it.
"So I'll see you tomorrow?" He asked, skipping right over the last thing I said.
"I need to move the boys around a little, but yes." I told him. "You will be seeing me tomorrow, at seven, out front."
"Okay." He said and nodded. "Thank you."
"You're welcome." I told him. "Can I go back to a probably angry Mina?"
"Yes." He told me with a nod and a little laugh. He's been friends with Mina longer than I have, so I imagine he has a better idea of what I'm in for when I go back to the couch.
I carefully walked over, sat back down on the couch, and attempted to act as if nothing happened. But unfortunatly that's not how Mina was feeling.
She made a sound of displeasure and turned her head away from me like a child.
"What's wrong my little sour patch?" I asked her, trying to joke but she wasn't in the mood for jokes.
"You were gone for more than two minutes." She told me.
"I guestamated." I told her, but that didn't satisfy her wanting a reason for my neglect. "It can also take more than two minutes to ask someone out." That seemed to do the trick since she practically snapped her neck when she swung around to look at me.
"Sero asked you out?" She whispered yelled.
"Yup." I told her.
"You said yes to a date?" She asked, also about to jump down the same rabbit hole Sero threw himself into. "Cool." Oh look at that, she caught herself.
"Does that give me some wiggle room for an apology?" I asked her as I slid a little closer to her. She pursed her lips and thought for a moment.
"Only if I get to help you dress for your date." She told me. 'And, I get to do your make-up."
"Absolutely." I told her.
"Apologies accepted." She said with a stern nod. "Now cuddle me." She instructed me as she shimmied down deep, lying into my arms.
"Yes dear." I laughed and pulled her more into me as the movie started.
