Deku's POV

"We still aren't entirely sure how it happened, but we need you to look after and take care of him. He still has his memories and things, but to ensure he gets used to his cat-like state until it's gone, we need you to watch over him. If he has any difficulty adjusting, and you can't figure out how to help him, you just send him on over to us," she explained. I thanked Recovery Girl and looked back at Shoto, who was glaring at his tail as it swished back and forth.

"You hear all that Shoto?" I stared at him as he looked over at me.

"I don't like it," he said plainly. He reached up and touched the end of one of his ears. "I don't like it," he repeated.

"This is why you will be looking after him," Recovery Girl whispered. I nodded and sighed.

"Come on Todoroki," I reached out my hand. He stared at it for a moment before taking it and walking behind me towards the bus station outside.

"Do I have to put up with this? Someone must have some sort of- reversal quirk," he mumbled, swishing his tail as we sat down to wait.

"I'll make sure you feel as comfortable as possible until this is all over."

When we finally got back to my place, Shoto seemed to be getting used to his current state, almost as if he was just regular Todoroki. He walked over to my couch when I opened the door, giving me a chance to close and lock it after him.

"You have to stay here with me, but you can still do pretty much whatever as long as you don't leave. You've been in my apartment before so I doubt I need to show you where- Shoto?" I noticed he had been staring at me from his place on the couch.

"I'm listening," he said quietly.

"I doubt I need to show you where things are. Like the kitchen and the bathroom," I finished. "I'm gonna go make myself something to eat. Do you want anything?"

"Izuku," he said. He yawned and laid his head on the arm of the couch.

"Yeah?" I watched him open his eyes slightly.

"Milk." I nodded and went into the kitchen. I grabbed myself a bag of goldfish and grabbed a cup, filling it halfway with milk. I walked back into the living room to an almost sleeping Shoto.

"I got milk," I said quietly, slightly shaking his shoulder. He opened his eyes and looked up at me.

"Izuku," he mumbled.

"You're really tired," I laughed slightly, sitting down on the couch next to him, putting the cup on the coffee table. As soon as I sat down, he moved his head from the arm of the couch onto my lap. "Shoto-"

"What?" he turned to look up at me, the back of his head still resting on my thighs.

"You can sleep in my room if you want," I offered. He shook his head and reached up to grab my shirt.

"You," he sighed.

"Me- you want to sleep on me?" I put my hand in his hair. He nodded and I smiled, rubbing the fur on the back of his ears. "Fine by me."

~~~
I woke up sometime the next day, the sun shining through the open blinds. Shoto and I were allowed to miss class due to his incident, but Ochaco would be coming by with notes about what we missed sometime after school. I saw my phone on the coffee table, but stopped myself from going to check the time when I remembered the sleeping figure laying on me.
"Hey Shoto-" I ran my fingers through his hair. He moved slightly and I smiled. "I gotta get up."
"Stay," he whispered.
"I gotta check my phone. And go to the bathroom," I laughed.
"Can I come with you?" he muttered. I sucked in a breath and looked up before sighing.
"Yeah, I guess so." He sat up and let me grab my phone. I checked the time and saw it was 12:15 meaning we had a couple hours before Ochaco would come over. I stood up and walked towards the bathroom, hearing Shoto's soft footsteps behind me. I turned to see him staring at me, ears up and tail swishing behind him.
"You stand out here, okay? I'll be out in a minute," I smiled. He stared at me for a second before nodding.
When I came out of the bathroom, he was sitting on the floor with his head in his head in his left hand, tracing circles on the floor with his right. His ears were down and his tail was swaying lightly.
"You alright?" I asked. He nodded and I smiled, reaching my hand out. He took my hand and I helped him up off the floor, holding his hand the whole way back into the living room.
~~~

As the days passed, I got used to his usual silence and his occasional words. He followed me everywhere around the house and I asked Ochaco a few times to pick up some food when she would come over. About a month after I started taking care of him, he started talking more. Still as quiet as normal Shoto, but not nearly as quiet as cat Shoto.

"Izuku," his voice called from the bathroom. I got up from the couch and looked down the hall, seeing the door slightly open.

"You okay?" I stood outside the door, not sure if I should go in or not.

"Look," he opened the door. I stared at him and realized almost immediately that he was missing his ears and tail.

"This is good, right? We have to go tell Recovery-" I stopped talking when Shoto grabbed my arm.

"I don't want to stop hanging out," he said quickly.

"Of course we won't stop hanging out. We'll just stop sleeping in the same bed every night," I laughed. Shoto looked down before nodding. "Are you okay?"

"I like it."

"What's that?"

"You," he sighed.

I smiled and put my hand over his on my arm. "I like you too Shoto."

This took a very long time because I didn't know what direction I wanted to go in but- appreciate the fluff I guess.
