Prologue
"Hey Meiko." The young girl with dirty blonde and pale brown eyes spoke.
"Yeah?" The young girl with long straight medium hair turned to her best friend.
"How about we make a promise?" She suggested making her blink twice.
"Promise?" She asked curiously.
"Yeah, like things that we can do in the future. So none of us could forget." She told her and Meiko grinned.
"Sure!" She replied.
"Alright let's do it!" She exclaimed as both girls stood up from the grassy ground where both of them face each other.
"Pinkies up." She reminded as Meiko nods and both of them raise their pinkies in midair as they link their pinkies together.
"I, Saki Hagiwara, will pursue my dream as the water warrior princess hero known as Aqua, who will protect and save people from villains who tried to harm them. I will never give up and kept on moving forward despite the ups and downs in life." Saki vowed.
"And I, Meiko Azuma, will pursue my dream as the poison hero known as Violet Anemone, who will keep those people safe from villains and create a new world where people will lived in peace without violence. I will never give up and kept my stance forward to the path I'm facing despite the obstacles." Meiko vowed. Once both of them released their pinkies, Saki flashes a bright grin.
"Meiko, you're the best gal and friend that I ever had! When we grow up, let's form a duo so we can save the world and defeat villains together!" She cheered with Meiko giggling and grinning at her bubbly friend.
"Sounds like a good plan to me. Alright then, you got yourself a deal blondie. We'll be heroes, but you have to make sure you work hard to pursue your dream and I'll do the same. So, don't you ever give up Saki cuz there's no turning back!" She replied with a grin as Saki smiled brightly at her best friend.
"Yeah!" She exclaimed as both of them exchanged grins. This is where their story begins: two best friends vow to work their hardest to achieve their goals no matter how rough life can be and what the obstacles are in life.
.....
That is until THIS happened....
We're here to report this terrible news about the fire last night at the apartment. It was a horrible sight to see. So many people have been killed by the fire as the flames spread quickly from the fifth to the first floor. A few people have survived and only three people were injured and taken to the hospital. But several people didn't make it time. That includes the people from the third floor. None of them make it.
As the news reporter announced the horrific report, Saki couldn't believe her ears and looked stunned with disbelief and fear. Her parents are left speechless.
"Oh...my god." Her father gasped as a cry from a male infant broke the silent with tears as he bawls his eyes at the sight of the burning apartment.
"Sshhhh don't cry Akio, it's okay. Mommy's here, mommy's here for you." Her mother reassured as she rocks the baby gently in her arms to calm the wailing baby boy. On the other hand, Saki sat on the table staring at the tv in disbelief. Soon she felt her spoon slipping from her hand as it drops to the floor.
"M-Meiko...no....this can't be....THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING!!!" She shrilled as she broke down in tears while ruffling her dirty blonde hair.
"Saki!!"
Four days later after the incident, family and friends have gather together to mourn the loss of their loved ones from the third floor of the burnt apartment. While all of them were mourning and bawling at their graves, Saki and her parents were searching for her best friend's grave, but she paused when they came across her parent's graves.
Heartbroken, Saki's mother covered her mouth and cried softly while her father wraps around his wife to comfort her. Saki stares at their grave with a sympathetic look yet there's one thing she's confused about. Where's Meiko's grave? Yearning for answers, Saki ran to find the funeral director.
"Excuse sir, where's Meiko's grave?" She asked curiously.
"I'm sorry?" He asked confusingly. Perplexed by his response, Saki frown and grips her hands.
"Meiko Azuma, she's my best friend....she used to live at the same apartment building...why can't I see her grave?" She asked again with a puzzled yet anxious look. The funeral director once again didn't understand her question and remained confused.
"I'm sorry sweetheart, Akiyo and Haruo Azuma are the only two people that died from the fire along with other victims. I'm not familiar with this Meiko Azuma you're assuming of. I'm terribly sorry, but I must go." He apologized as he walked away leaving Saki stunned and more confused.
"Huh? Wait! What do you mea-"
"Saki."
Saki was about to chase after the funeral director, but soon she felt her father laying his hand on her shoulder.
"Let him go, he's busy. We tried finding her grave, but...she's not here." He reassured her.
"So...does that mean she's still alive somewhere?" She assumed staring at her father with teary yet hopeful eyes. Her father and her mother flinched when she asked that.
"W-We don't know Saki, but where ever she is. I'm hoping she'll be okay." Her mother reassured making Saki nod her head, but she still confused. If Meiko didn't die, then....where is she? Where did she go?
Right after the funeral ended, Saki and her family were quiet in the car with her baby brother, Akio sleeping in his seat. Saki was sitting there silent as she looks back at her friend's last words before she "died".
We'll be heroes, but you have to make sure you work hard to pursue your dream and I'll do the same. So, don't you ever give up Saki cuz there's no turning back!
While reminiscing Meiko's last words, Saki grips her hands against her seat as she raise her head and looks at her parents.
"Mommy, daddy." She finally spoke as they both turn to their daughter. They sat their watching their daughter lift her head high with teary eyes filled with determination.
"..I may not know where her whereabouts are, but...I'm gonna be the best hero you'll ever seen! I'll do anything to protect those who are harmed and I'll never give up! Just like how Meiko told me too!" She proclaimed with a confident expression with teary pale brown eyes.
Her parents smiled at her words.
"And we'll be here to support you." Her father assured
"But we'll have to train you if you want to be heroes like us." Her mother suggested making Saki giggled.
"I know that, you guys used to work as heroes together!" She exclaimed.
"Yes, and we're also good trainers." Her father said showing off his water abilities with his right hand while driving the wheel with his left hand.
"Think you're prepare for this Saki?" Her mother asked she shows off her wind powers by making napkins and crumbled papers float in the air. Saki nod with a determined smile without hesitation.
"I do! I'll do my best!" She proclaimed.
"We know." They grinned as they all smiled warmly together as they both head home where Saki's heroic journey begins.
