Shift: Part 6 (Shinsou)
"Here try this." Todroki said as he sat next to me and placed a bowl of something in font of me. There were long string looking things in some liquid and looked weird, but smelled amazing. I went to grab what was in the bowl.
"No!" Shinsou yelled and I jumped. He sighed and handed me two sticks. "You'll burn yourself that way. Use these." I looked at them and held one in each hand as I tried to figure out how I was supposed to use them.
"Have you never used chopsticks before?" Momo, asked me. I shook my head.
"Here I'll show you." Todiroki said as he took them from me and placed both of them in one of my hands and then showed me how to move them. I then tried picking up the strings from the bowl, I didn't get much but I did get a few.
"Blow on it." Shinsou told me before I put them in my mouth. I did, and the moment I put them in my mouth I flinched.
"What's wrong?" Mina asked, as I chewed.
"This is really good." I told them. "What is it?"
"It's Ramen." Todiroki said. "Have you never had it before." I shook my head no.
"I've only ever had mashed foods." I said. "We weren't allowed to have or uses things like chopsticks. Anything that could potentially be used as a weapon wasn't allowed near us, unless we were restrained. And then only Father was allowed to touch them." I looked up at everyone, and they were staring at me. "Did I say something wrong?"
"No, it's just." Momo told me, and took a second as if she was thinking. "It sounds like the way you were raised was really wrong, and that you were treated like an animal."
"I am an animal." I said, and this time everyone flinched. "Father always said I was his favorite pet."
"You are not an animal." Shinsou said and grabbed my shoulders and shook me. "You are a human being. Do you understand?" I started getting scared and didn't say anything.
"Shinsou, you're scaring her." Momo said. He loosened his grip on me and I ran for the door. I ran outside to a bench, where I sat down and pulled my knees to my chest and hid my face in my arms. I started rocking myself, trying to calm down. Every breath I took I got more and more scared.
"Y/n." I heard coming towards me. It was Shinsou, but I didn't say anything. I heard him crouch down in front of me. I felt his hands gently grab the back of my legs and I let him pull them down so I wasn't hiding anymore. He grabbed my hands, and it felt like my hands were vibrating between his.
"Please don't hurt me." I begged and started crying. I was hoping that if I didn't move, he wouldn't hit me.
"I'm not going to hurt you." He told me and I looked at him. His face was calm now, and not angry like a minute ago. "Y/n-." I didn't let him finish and I hugged him tight around his neck. He wrapped his arms around me after a second, and rubbed my back.
"I'm sorry." I cried, before repeating over it and over again as I slid off the bench and onto the ground in front of him.
"Why are you sorry?" He asked me.
"Because I ran away." I said. "Father doesn't like it when I run, he hates it when I play hide and seek."
"Well I'm not him." Shinsou said and wiped the tears from my face. "Running away sometimes is okay. Just not all the time." I looked up at him and he was serious, not in his usual way, but a gentle way. "Now come on. Lets go eat." I nodded and he helped me off the ground.
