Second Best: Part 1 (Bakugo)

This is somewhat of a continuation from "Screaming Love".

"Next up!" We all heard Mr. Mic from the speakers in the stadium. "Katsuki Bakugo and y/n l/n!" Me along with everyone else in the class gasped. I didn't look to my left, where Bakugo sat. Neither of us looked. I reached over with my hand, where it met his in the air. He was reaching for me too.

We grabbed each other's hands and together we walked up the steps where we made our way towards the waiting rooms. Before I walked into my waiting room, I leaned over and left a kiss on his cheek, and let go of his hand.

"Good luck babe! Do your best!" I told him before I closed the door, and he could say something to me. I went and sat at the table and put my head in my hands.

We've been dating for the past few months since I ended my relationship with my Father after he tried to force me into a Quirk Marriage. Bakugo saved me from it and has been saving my idiot ass since. He saved me from going homeless, he saved me in multiple fights with villains and bullies alike. He's been my family.

I knew that we had the chance of having to fight against each other in the Sports Race, but I didn't imagine it would be so close towards the end. The second to last match, right when everything mattered the most.

A knock came from the door, and startled me out of my thoughts.

"Come in." I said stood up to start stretching. The door opened and Kirishima walked in along with Mr. Aizawa. "Kiri? I would have thought you would be visiting with Bakugo."

"Me too, but he wont let me see him." He told me, and I looked down.

"You're not going to fight him are you?" Mr. Aizawa asked me and I looked at him.

"I don't want to." I admitted, though it was obvious. "But I will anyway."

"You're really going to do it?" Kiri asked me.

"I can't just forfeit at this point." I said. "I've come really far and I want to see this out to the end. But I don't want to hurt him either."

"And he doesn't want to hurt you."  Mr. Aizawa said.

"I know." I said and sat back down. "I don't know what we're going to do. What I'm going to do."

"Well either way you know he'll still love you." Kiri told me as he placed his hand on my shoulder.

"Y/n and Katsuki Bakugo!" Mr. Mic called out over the loud system. "Please make your way over to the arena!" I got up and we walked out of the waiting room.

"Good luck sweetheart." Mr. Aizawa told me and kissed my forehead.

"Thanks Dad." I said, before he walked back up to the announcers booth.

Me and Bakugo had walked out of our rooms at the same time and we looked at each other. He walked up to me and took my hand. Hand and hand we walked to the arena.

"Don't hold back." I told him.

"And what if I do?" Bakugo asked me.

"Well I hope you won't." I told him. "I mean I didn't think I'd end up dating a quitter." I told him and walked out ahead of him into the arena. If I could jut get him mad enough. Something, anything, to get him to see I want him to fight.

Everyone cheered as we walked out into the arena. I went and took my stance, and so did Bakugo.

"Ready? Set?" Midnight called out, and I took a deep breath in. "Fight!" She called and I released the breath with and shot an air turbine towards him. Bakugo dodged, and I felt a hint of relief that he did. It meant he wasn't going to quit. And we fought, even though I could tell he was holding back, he didn't let up.

I dodged one of his attacks and rolled onto the ground, but before I could get up Bakugo shot himself into the air and was coming down with another attack. I didn't have time to stand or to brace myself. I lifted my arms and swiped them to the side cutting off the oxygen around his explosions and cutting them off entirely. Bakugo continued to fall towards me.

'This is it, if I can time this right.'

I shot air out of my mouth and shot him back into the air.

'He can catch himself.'

Because I wasn't stable where I was when I sent Bakugo backwards, I sent myself as well. I flew over the out of bounds line and slammed into the stairs before rolling all the way down to the base of the ring.

"The winner is Katsuki Bakugo!" Midnight yelled, and I was happy. But as I clutched onto my leg, as much as I wanted to cry out in joy that my boyfriend won, and was that much closer to placing number one in the Sports Race. I could only scream out in pain.
