Rhythm: Part 1 (Sero)

I was strolling through the halls after cleaning the classroom, and I was honestly really tired and wanted nothing more than to crash in my bed. I took a deep breath as I started hearing music playing a couple of doors away from me, and I couldn't help but let my curiosity get the best of me.

I walked up to the door, and peaked through the window of the door. I saw Sero from my class dancing with a girl. I don't know the name of the dance, but it looked kind of sexual but in the best kind of way. The music was lovely as well, the sound of a guitar strumming as if it was made for the two of them.

Suddenly they stopped dancing and the girl got mad. It looked like they argued for a minute before she walked out of the room, using a different door.

I watched as Sero threw his hands up in frustration, before hanging his head. I opened the door, just before he turned off the music. The door clicked shut and Sero turned to look at me.

"Y/n!" He yelled, and jumped a bit.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to spy." I said. "I heard the music and got curious."

"Oh, ugh." He hummed and his face was pretty red. "How much did you see?"

"You were dancing with that girl, and then she stormed off." I told him, and his face got even redder. "Who was she?"

"That was my cousin." He told me, and walked over to his gym bag. "She's my dance partner."

"Are you in a competition or something?" I asked him, and he got a drink of water.

"Yeah, we have a couple of weeks before the next competition. Which is also the finals." He told me, and looked pretty embarrassed. "Hey, can I ask a favor?"

"Sure." I told him, and walked over and sat next to him.

"Can you not tell anyone about this?" He asked. "Nobody knows that I'm doing this, and I kind of want to keep it on the downlow."

"Oh yeah, not a problem." I told him. "As long, as you teach me."

"What?" He asked and looked at me.

"Will you teach me?" I asked, trying to be less threatening. "Unless you're too busy with practicing, in which case I guess nevermind." I shrugged and stood up.

"No, no." Sero told me, and stood up too. He grabbed my shoulders and held me where I was. "I'd love to teach you. And the practice with you would be perfect."

"Really?" I asked him and his smile was so wide.

"Yeah, my cousin isn't really into this." He told me and scratched the back of his neck. "She's my partner, but not exactly a great one. Only reason she's doing this is because she's the only one in my family that knows how to properly dance Bachata."

"And that's what you were dancing?" I asked, and he nodded. "Well, what first teach?" He laughed and sat me down before kneeling and grabbing my ankle.

"First, these shoes wont work." He told me and started taking my shoes off leaving me in my socks. "Not for starting out, once you get the movement and such down you'll be able to move in shoes. But until then . . . ." He took my socks off part way and left the front half of my feet covered in the sock. "You'll learn how to dance like this."

He sat next to me and took his shoes off, and did the same for himself.

"Dancing with your socks like this, will make it easier to twist and pivot." Sero told me before standing up and dragging me with him. "See?" He asked and started twisting back and forth on the front of his feet.

I looked down at my feet and did the same thing. I laughed and kept doing it. It was so easy to swish back and forth.

Sero laughed and grabbed my shoulders to stop me.

"Second, keep your knees bent." He told me and bent his knees slightly. I followed suit, and we both started twisting together. It was easier, and definitely more flowy.

We spent a couple of minutes swishing, and twisting around the room like a bunch of dorks. Up until I slipped and fell on my ass.

"This floors really hard." I said as Sero laughed at me and laid down on the floor next to me, while I was trying to  rub my butt better.

"Next, you're going to want to be really relaxed. That way your body can be as flexible as possible." He told me and laid himself out like a starfish. I quietly laughed at him, and he patted to floor next to him. I laid down next to him and followed the way he stretched.

"Why are we on the floor doing this?" I asked him, as I felt my muscles relax.

"Because it allows your whole body to rest, especially your back." He said before getting off the floor. He pulled me off the floor too, and I definitely could feel what he was talking about. "Now follow my feet." He stepped slightly to the side, moving his foot maybe a couple of inches, before moving his other foot to keep the same distance between his feet.

I followed, as he stood next to me.

"And then go back." He told me, before we stepped back to where we were oringally. Moving only a couple times in total. "And that's the Bachata." He said and shrugged.

"Wait what?" I asked and looked at him weird. This was nothing like what I had seen when I watched him dancing before. "That's it?"

"Yeah, basically." He said. "All of those twists and turns and-."

"Body rolls?" I asked, cause I had seen him.

"Yes, all that comes later." He told me and started the four steps that he showed me. "This right here is Bachata. But what you your partner add to it is what makes it dancing." He said and started swaying his hips and moving around me in a circle.

And as I watched Sero dance around me, I've never wanted to dance so badly in my life before.
