Chapter Three

HYUNJIN | FELIX

Han and I both made it to homeroom exactly when the final bell rang. Hearing different boices chattering inside made my nervousness come back tenfold. Han noticed my face and grabbed my hand in his own.

"Don't worry, all you have to do is introduce yourself and then that's it. I'll save a seat next to me as soon as you're done, okay?

I nodded, taking a deep breath in before stepping inside the classroom. As soon as we both entered, all the conversations hushed and all eyes were focused on me. Han gave me a reassuring squeeze before letting go and moving to his seat. Once seated, he mouthed the words 'fighting' to me with two thumbs up.

"Hi, you must be the new transfer student." A female teacher spoke, holding out her hand towards me with a smile. "My name is Miss V, would you mind introducing yourself to the class?"

"S-Sure."

Looking around the room, I noticed a few girls smiling at me while some guys stared at me with death glares.
Another thing I noticed was Hyunjin and Minho seated in the back of class, both of them staring at me with blank facial expressions. My breath hitched, and I quickly diverted my eyes to the floor.

Clearing my throat, I began to speak.

"Hi, m-my name is Felix. Lee Felix, Lee being my last n-name. I'm from Sydney, Australia... and...um..."

Miss V interjected, smiling at me. "Felix, do you have any talents or hobbies?"

I nodded with a smile. "I actually like to dance and I love making brownies."

One girl seated in the front of the class raised her hand with a small smile. "Hi, I'm Yeji. Would you make some for us to try?"

"Sure I can. I mean," looking at Miss V for approval, "if that's allowed..?"

She laughed, waving her hand dismissively. "Of course it is. Bring them in on Friday! Welcome again Felix, please take a seat."

Nodding, I quickly made my way over to Han and sighed a breath of relief. He smiled and patted my head, leaning in my ear to whisper. "Great job!"

"That was torture..." I mumbled, pulling my hoodie over my head embarrassed. "Do I have to do that for every class?"

"Unfortunately, yes. Don't worry, you only have three more after Social Studies, and you share those classes with each of our other friends. You won't be alone."

Sighing, I slumped into my seat. "Wonderful..."

Taking out my notebook, I began to listen to the lecture and take notes. After the first hour, Miss V allowed us a break before Second Period started, which was Social Studies.

Yeji walked over to our table with a smile. "So, Felix. You do know that there is a dance club you could join?"

I raised an eyebrow curiously. "Really? Is there an audition I'd have to do?"

"Yeji, have you failed to mention who is captain of said dance club?" Han scowled.

"Ah, right. Captain is Hyunjin... but I'm Co-Captain! Unfortunately, he's my step-cousin, but I don't claim him and neither does he claim me." She sighed, rolling her eyes. "I still think you should join! The audition is just a two-minute dance routine of your choice!"

"I don't know... I don't think I want to be anywhere near him if I don't have to..." I mumbled, picking at my fingers.

She smiled sadly, nodding. "I understand... Just know the invitation is always open, okay?"

I nodded with a smile, letting her feel comfortable with leaving us alone. Han looked at me worriedly. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah. I just didn't realize how much influence that group had on the school."

The next class began and it went by in a blur, my mind clouded by doubt and hesitation. Dance had been my biggest passion, and my goal was to major in dance in college. The dance club would be the perfect opportunity to showcase my skills, but with Hyunjin as captain, my nerves were overwhelming me.

Soon enough, the bell rang finally rang after the second hour, meaning my Third period math class was next: Calculus.

"Alright class, I will be assigning you partners for your semester projects on Friday, and no you can't change partners once you get yours. Don't even bother asking." Miss V smirked. "Have a good day!"

Han quickly grabbed my hand and whispered. "Let's go, I see Minho and Hyunjin behind us."

Latching on, I followed Han in rush outside the door, making sure we were able to clearly get out and head to our next class. However, a voice yelled out, calling my name.

"Ya! New kid!"

Freezing in my spot, both of us turned around to see the two individuals we were trying our best to avoid: Hyunjin and Minho.

The hallway was filled with passing students, all who stopped to observe the scene displayed in front of them. My body was stuck in my spot, and the only thing holding me steady was Han's grip on my hand.

"Don't worry, we'll be fine." Han whispered softly.

Hyunjin began his walk towards me, while Minho trailed behind with a smirk on his face. Once standing in front, he sighed softly to himself, deliberately sizing me up and down with a bored expression on his face. "So, your name is Lee Felix, hmm? Are you related to Minho?"

Minho scoffed. "Definitely not. Just because we share the same last name, doesn't make us anywhere near family. No one in my family has freckles like him. What a joke."

"W-What do you want?" I said softly, looking at the ground nervously.

Just breathe...

"What, I can't talk to you? You're too high and mighty for a simple conversation?" He said taunting, shoving me roughly. "Hey everyone, the new transfer student is too good for a conversation with me!"

Gripping my free fist, I could feel myself getting pissed off.

I have to do something...

Slowly releasing Han's hand, he turned to me with wide eyes. "Lix..."

All I could do is shake my head, slightly turn to him with a confident smile. "Leave...Go to class."

I could tell he was contemplating on his decision, but I just nodded for reassurance. Reluctantly, he took off down the hall.

"Hey! Wait!" Minho called out to him, following his tracks. That only left Hyunjin and I facing each other in the middle of the crowd.

Suddenly the warning bell rang for third period, leaving only a few minutes left to make it. Building up confidence and deciding to speak up first, I looked at him and sighed. "I really thought I should at least give you a fair chance to prove me wrong, but Chan-hyung was right. You're just a bully, and I'm sad to see it. Don't worry, I'll stay as far away from you as possible."

He raised an eyebrow curiously. "...Excuse me?"

"I'm going to class. Goodbye, Hyunjin."

Turning away, I tried to start walking to class but I felt a hand grab my hoodie and slam me into a nearby locker. Gasps were heard around us from the impact, and there was a throbbing pain on the back of my head. Looking up, Hyunjin was glaring at me with rage while holding my collar in both hands.

"You just earned yourself an enemy, Lix. I'm going to make your life a living fucking hell." He snarled.

I tsked, holding both of his hands to forcefully remove them off of me. "Whatever you say, Jinnie."

His eyes grew wide, and I smirked, finally walking away.

"You did what?!" Wooyoung whisper-yelled.

I sighed, placing my head on the desk and muttered. "How many times do I need to say it Woo... You heard me clear enough..."

We were currently in Calculus, working on a worksheet in pairs. Wooyoung and I finished quickly, but due to Han's lengthy report to our friend group in our shared chat, I was forced to explain everything to him in person.

Wooyoung grabbed my hand and rubbed it. "Sorry...Are you okay? How do you feel?"

"I don't know how to feel...happy? Scared? Stupid? I'm just-"

I was cut off by the appearance of San, who stood next to our shared table with a raised eyebrow. Wooyoung looked up and instantly rolled his eyes, focusing his gaze back on me.

San smirked, pulling a nearby chair and swinging it to our table. "Did I disturb you two?"

"What the hell do you think, San? Gosh, you're so annoying..." Wooyoung muttered, causing San to laugh.

"Woo, did you know how cute you look so flustered?"San teased.

My eyes grew wide, looking at the two males in front of me. "Um.. San... Why are you here?"

He turned to me and smirked. "I just wanted to meet the new transfer student. Seems like you have made your name already in less than a day."

"Care to elaborate?" Wooyoung asked suspiciously.

"Gladly, sweetheart." He said, pinching Wooyoung's cheeks. "Well, your friend over here is attractive, and has managed to piss off my friend in just one conversation. I say that's lengendary, and he even called my friend by his nickname. Badass."

My face flushed. "H-He was pissing me off. Channie-hyung told me all about you guys, s-so I did what he did to me. He c-called me 'Lix', so I called him 'Jinnie'..."

Now San raised an eyebrow curiously. "Now that you mention Chan-hyung... how do you know him?"

"He's my cousin." I answered proudly.

"Makes sense... Well, I'll leave you two alone. Don't worry, I'm not going to bother either of you. Consider it a gift, Woo." San winked, getting up and moving away.

Once he was far enough away, Wooyoung sighed out of relief. "What the hell was that?"

I playfully smiled. "I think San actually likes you."

"Oh Lixie...you really are stupid."Wooyoung shook his head, giggling.

"Ya!"
