chapter 24: tattletale
A/N: YUP, IF YOU'VE READ ANY OF MY OTHER WORKS, IN PARTICULAR , MY MOST RECENT UPDATES, YOU'VE NOTICED A TREND WHERE I'M CHANGING THE WAY THE TWINS SPEAK. I JUST CAN'T WITH THE BROKEN ENGLISH, ALTHOUGH I LOVE READING IN THAT STYLE SO MUCH. IT'S A PAIN TO WRITE IN AND AUTO CORRECT KICKS MY ASS, SO THE REST OF THIS SERIES WILL BE IN PROPER GRAMMAR. IN ADDITION, MANY OF THE FRENCH TEXT, I'M SURE IS INCORRECT. THANKS FOR UNDERSTANDING 😂
Two weeks have passed since I called Larry after our long hiatus from each other.
I was standing in the mirror giving myself a once... no, twice... no, I was giving myself an 8-times over to make sure everything looked good. From my outfit to my shoes, hair, and everything in-between, I was fixing things that didn't need fixing.
I was a nervous reck.
I know this wasn't a date; far from it in fact. He wasn't picking me up, nor I, him, but we had agreed to meet at the movies. As friends, of course. I was wearing a cute black knee-length dress that although was form fitting at the top, resembled a poodle style skirt at the bottom without the extra 'fluff' if that makes sense. It reminded me of a dress worn by Taylor Swift during a red carpet appearance, minus the sleeves, the lace embroidery, and the fact that mine was black opposed to hers being red.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't trying to catch his attention tonight, after all, I was still very much attracted to Larry. I just knew I wasn't ready for him to be mine, nor was I ready to be his. We had too much on our plates, and having an eyes bigger than your stomach moment would ruin everything.
I had light makeup on with my hair pressed out and lightly curled, my tresses brushing softly against my shoulders. I wore platform heels. I was so glad that I never found the correct occasion to wear these to. I only wore them twice, and that was me just walking around the house in them. It's crazy to think that I've had these shoes for a bit over a decade now and I'm finally able to break them out.
I have to admit, I looked classy as fuck. It's such a norm now to see women wearing skin-tight, leave-nothing-to-the-imagination clothing these days as everyday wear. Call me old fashion, but I still prefer to leave something to the imagination.
I touched up my makeup and grabbed a purse that complimented my ensemble. I think I mentioned before that I'm not one to do purses, but again, special occasion, remember?

I was standing outside the movie theatre 20 minutes later. To be honest, he's the one that picked the movie. Although I liked it as well, I'd have agreed to any movie he wanted to see. My main goal was just being in his presence. Call me a simp if you want, but it is what it is.
Larry has very attractive qualities; not just his looks, although that plays a significant part in all of this, but he's just one of those people who... I can't even use a word to describe it.
Have you ever met a person, and maybe not even after a day; let's just say a few times being around them, you both just click? That's how it was for us. It's far in-between that you find people like that in your lifetime, and I wasn't about to give that up, no matter what our pasts held.
Even standing there waiting for him, I didn't mind, because I knew I'd be seeing him soon. He gave me butterflies, a feeling long forgotten in my past life when friendships and relationships were a new experience for me. It was just something about him...
As I was having this daydream, I spotted him walking up towards my direction. Dressed in all black as if we planned to match tonight, he walked with such confidence and swagger. His slow pace made my head scream internally to just run over to him and jump in his arms.
I only smiled and painstakingly waited for him to stand in front of me.
"Bonsoir belle." Was what I was greeted with. It made me smile and I felt as though I was showing every tooth residing in my mouth.
"Bonsoir monsieur." I followed up with.
I wasn't sure if that was informally correct, something I was trying to achieve, but it sounded good. I admit that the past two weeks, I had been doing some self-study French lessons just so I could try to impress him. Again, I don't know if that was the correct terminology to use, but not only did it sound good, but it made him drop his head and smile.
He looked back up at me, "You ready?"
"Bien sûr!" I prayed inwardly, again, hoping I used the words correctly.
His head tilted slightly at that, "Ah, alors est-ce-que tu parles français maintenant?"
I didn't understand a word of what he just threw at me. Well, maybe three words, but not enough to make out what he could possibly be asking. I only knew it was a question due to the fluctuation in his tone. I'm sure he picked up on me not being able to understand either because of my dumb-founded facial expression. He just laughed it off, welcoming my arm to weave through his with a gesture as if we were at a school function in the 60's.
"Come on." Was all he said to me before we walked towards the booth to purchase our tickets for the movie.

LARRY'S POV
I was distracted.
BEYOND distracted.
This was a movie I had been waiting so long to see, even promising Lau to go with him to watch it for both of our first times, but I kind of betrayed him by taking Vee instead.
We talked about it and he was extremely upset, but he understood my situation. Me and Vee were on rocky roads, trying to get back to freshly-laid concrete, and he knew how much I liked her. He liked her as well, so I'm not surprised at how accepting he was towards the idea after a few minutes of pouting.
I already knew he was pretending not to like her on the account of my behalf and I appreciated him more for it. He didn't want to admit just how unique of a person with Vee's qualities were... and the perks of her having a dance studio, so I understood that situation as well. We'll ride or die for one another. His enemies are mine, and mine, his.
LAURENT'S POV
I have to tell him. I can't do this any longer.
The more time that goes by, the harder it will be to tell him and the more he'll hurt when I do.
Crystal was busy tonight and Larry was out with Vee which excited me so much, but I was alone with nothing to do. Since he went to see the movie with Vee, the one we were supposed to see together, I decided to have a lonely Netflix and Chill night all by myself.
I didn't have shit to snack on in the house, so I headed out to get a few items to hold me over for the night.
All I did was go to the corner store, and guess who I bump into?
Lanell's trifling ass.
It's like she lives and breathes off of my misery.
I can't take this anymore. She wants to see me crack, and it's working...
