Chapter 10: The bracelet
Reader's pov:
I woke up and pain was coursing throughout my head. I groaned loudly and pulled myself up out of the bed. I went into my bathroom to wash up. I still had my uniform from yesterday on and I stank of alcohol.
I grimaced at my own appearance, my hair was all over the place, my face had tear stains on it. I was probably crying in my sleep again. I got into the shower and washed away the dirt. I tried to soothe my hangover by massaging my temples, but that didn't work. I turned off the shower and got into a fresh uniform. I walked into the mess hall, where the squad was and sat down. They all looked at me while I started to sip my water.
"What? Oh God I did something embarrassing last night didn't it?" I said with an embarrassed smile.
"Not really! I was worse!" Hanji cheered. I don't understand why she doesn't sit with her own squad.
"The last thing I remember was you coming with me to get more shots" I laughed. Her and I started laughing again together.
"Really? Shortcake, the last thing I remember was asking to play truth or dare!" She laughed. Wait what? We played truth or dare?
Oh god.
Her and I laughed some more, but the squad continued to look at me. It started to make me feel uncomfortable.
"Seriously what did I do?" I asked them.
"You asked us not to bring it up, before you left." Eld replied. Ah shit! What did I tell them?!
"Oh.." Was all I said. I really wanted to know what I said.
"Oi, brat! Where's that bracelet you always wear?" Levi asked suddenly. I looked down at my wrist to find it gone. I never take it off. I shot up out of my seat and ran out, back to my room to try and find it.
Hours upon hours I kept looking around HQ for it. It was only a small string, but it held so much sentimental value. I didn't talk to anyone that day. I lost the only thing that symbolised my friendship towards my dead friends. It was the only thing I had left of my old life.
Whenever I wore the bracelet, I felt like Scott, Lucinda and my family were with me, but now I lost it. I felt a large gaping hole in heart. You must be thinking 'it's only a bracelet!' But it's important to me.
It was now dinner time, so for now I just put on a fake smile and went to the mess hall. I was more quiet than usual and everyone seemed to notice it.
"Any luck?" Gunther asked.
I looked up at them all and smiled but my eyes were showing so much sadness.
"No, but it was just a- never mind." I wasn't going to say it was just a bracelets because I'm just lying to them.
"Look, last night you told us about your friends. You told us the promise you made and about why you had the bracelet. It's okay. You can still keep your promise to them." Levi spoke looking at me directly in the eyes. I feigned a smile and nodded.
It just isn't the same...
