Chapter 24

Manya's POV

It was my first day in the office. After returning from my interview I got a call from them that I was selected in their company as the executive assistant.I'm new to this work. But Bhai told me basic works that I was required to do in this post. I was feeling nervous and excited at the same time.

I got ready in a black shirt and grey pants. I did little makeup. After wearing my flats I went down for breakfast. Everybody had already settled on their seats and were waiting for me.I greeted them.They all praised my look.

"Today I will drop My princess, Arjun." Said papa and smiled at me.

"Okay, papa, as you wish!" Said Bhai and I nodded my head in approval looking at them.

I ate my breakfast. After that mom told me to get blessings from god.I went into our temple and joined my hands infront of Ganesh ji.

"Thank you so much, Ganesh ji. You gave me this new, wonderful family who loves me like their own. You blessed me with these caring people. Today is my first day in the new phace of life. Please bless me with your love." After praying I took blessings from papa and mumma. Arjun Bhai and Bhabi gave me a watch as their blessing. After bidding bye to them I left for office with papa.

I reached at time and entered the office building. The recipationist was a sweet girl and her name, I got to know, was Simran. She told me that I have to go to the eighth floor and I would get to know where would I work. When I reached the the eighth floor Anvesha was standing there.

She met me warmly and told me to go to Arhaan's cabin. I wonder why I have to meet Arhaan.

"Why do I've to meet to Arhaan's sir?" I asked.

She looked at me as if I have two heads. "You're going to work with him as his executive assistant so you have to go there to know your work." She told me.

"What?" I thought in my mind. I have to work with him. But I thought I will work in his company under someone else. I didn't think I'll work as his personal assistant.

Anvesha looked at me and looking at my expressions she busted into laughter. "Sorry!" She said.

"Don't worry, you'll love to work with him. He's a nice person but sometimes he gets rude to his employees. But you don't worry. You will know about him soon. So now you go if you don't want to be late on your first day." She told me while an encouraging me with her smile.

I nodded and stood outside his cabin. With nervousness, I knocked on the door. After hearing a faint come in, I entered into the cabin. He was sitting on his chair while doing something on his laptop. I cleared my throat. He looked at me and gestured me to sit infront of him. He didn't even smile.

"You're five minutes late, Ms. Manya." He said with authority in his voice while looking at his laptop screen.

Looking at his demeanor I was feeling more nervous. I didn't answer him and played with my fingers in fear. Not getting an answer from me he looked at me and left his work. He looked at my face and smiled.

"Why're you feeling nervous, Manya? I want us to work professionally, not as if we know each other personally so that we don't feel awkward with each other. So come out of your nervousness and start your work. Okay?" He asked.

After hearing him I felt relieved and smiled to him.

"Okay sir." I told him.

He nodded and told me my work and showed the cabin that was attached with his cabin. A mirror wall divided his  cabin from mine. He told me to arrange the files so that I can find them easily when we need them. I nodded and started my work.

He also told me that I have to arrange and reschedule any meeting if he wants to and explained some other works too.

Inluged in the work, I didn't notice that it's 2pm. Only when my tummy started growling in hunger that I noticed the time. I sat down on my chair and just then the intercom rang. When I received, it was Arhaan. He called me in his cabin.

I stood infront of his table. Anvesha was also there. He looked at me and then told her.

"Anvesha, show Ms. Manya the way to the canteen."

"Yes sir." She said and told me to come with her. I nodded and walked out of the cabin with her.

We reached the canteen that was on the ground floor. We settled on our seats and ordered our food.

We talked while eating. She told me that she is working with this company from last two years. She is living her mother and brother. Her father died when she was eighteen. After that she took the responsibility of her family. We talked about lots of things. After finishing our food we left for our respective works.

I knocked at the door and entered hearing his voice. There's a woman sitting with him. Looking at her back she looked familiar to me. I took steps toward them when the woman turned. We both smiled looking at each other. She stood from her seat and hugged me.

Shobha aunty. I greeted her.

"What a pleasant surprise Manya? And you look amazing in this look. What're you doing here?" She asked.

I looked at aunty and then at Arhaan. He looked at me and then at her.

"Why're you both looking at each other like that?" She asked.

"Mom... umm Manya joined as my executive assistant. That's 's why she's here." He said.

"Okay! But why didn't you tell me? She asked.

"Umm.. I forgot it. And it's her first day." He explained while scratching his neck.

Shobha squealed in happiness and hugged me.

"It's a good decision, Manya. I'm so happy with it. And you, Arhaan, take care of my daughter. Don't give her lots of work." She warned while pointing her finger sternly.

He rolled his eyes at his mother's warning. "Mom, she is working as my employee and I'll treat her like I treat my other employees." He said and looked at me.

I looked down. I don't know why I was feeling bad listening to him. I also wanted the same. But now I don't feel good listening from him.

"And she also wants the same. We want to maintain our professional attitude." He said.

Shobha aunty looked at me and smiled. "Okay if Manya also wants then it's okay with me. But fir bhi (still), take care of her." She said.

He nodded and told me to do my work. I nodded and left for my cabin after biding bye to Shobha aunty. She told us that she was leaving.

Then again, immersed in my work I forgot the time. Time quickly passed. When my work was done I went to Arhaan's cabin. He was talking on his phone. He looked at me and gestured me to sit.

"Your work is over today. You can leave now. Tommorow came on time, Ms. Manya." He said after finsihing the call and looked at his watch then at me.

I nodded and left from there. I called Bhai. He said he was on his way to pick me up. I went down and came out from the building. There infront of building was a beautiful garden. I went there and sat on the bench placed there.

Author's POV

She looked here and there, watching the evening view. She was admiring the nature while on the other side, Arhaan was watching her from the window in his cabin.

She looked at her left side and a smile spread on her lips. She stood up from her seat and took steps towards a cute little white coloured puppy.

She took him from the ground and sat on the bench with him in her lap. She caressed his hair and he wagged it's tail and licked her arm with his tongue. She laughed at him and kissed him and held him on her shoulder.

Arhaan watched a different Manya today. Who gets happy from such small things, like she was happy now with that puppy. He watched her caressing him and then the puppy licking her arms. She laughed at his antics. Looking at a laughing Manya, he also laughed.

"You're something, Manya. I don't know why I want to see you all day. Today my eyes didn't leave you for one second. You were busy in your work while I was busy watching you. What you do to me Manya? Why I have no control over myself?" He thought and admired the beauty infront of him.

He was watching her continuously when Arjun came near her. He watched Manya playing with a puppy and her dress got dirty with the mud. He laughed at both.

"Today I got to know that you're such a little baby." Arjun said and laughed. Manya also laughed with him while being embarrassed on her behavior. After that they both left from there for their home.
