Slowly Shattering

I do not own the quote or picture above, they belong to their respectful owners.

I have decided to rewrite this story, and this is the first chapter of it all! I hope you all enjoy.

http://archiveofourown.org/works/12738738

This story above is the one that inspired me to write this story. Because, in the story, the Reader left because she thought it would be better for Sans, not herself. I wanted a story where the OC/Reader leaves for herself - because she has self-respect and love dang it! So, that's what I am doing here. Because I honestly do not think someone should stay with a cheater no matter what - I mean, unless it was without consent when the 'cheating' happened, more like sexual harassment and rape is that's what happened, but that's a whole different topic and won't be used in this story. None of that in my story - nope, Sans actually goes out and willingly cheats here, and my OC leaves him.

Hope's SOUL is a soft pastel pink - like my version of Mettaton's in the story 'Soft Pink Hearts' - meaning that her main trait it love - not LOVE - and minor traits of compassion and caring. She also has Integrity in her and a few dots of Perseverance. Her best friend's - Nicole - SOUL is a mix between Bravery and Perseverance with a few dots of Determination, not a good mix for those who get on her bad side. I believe that SOULS can have more then one color or even change colors, especially when you get older as your life view can change or teach you something else to add on to your SOUL. It's my own headcanon, after all people are more than one-dimensional.

Hope Azalea Honey and Nicole Gladiolus Nemesis are two of my own OCs, ones that I have used before in other stories. For example, I have used them in my "Luck Of The Draw" (LotD) book, the stories within the book, before. Hope is very tall, thin, and on the sickly side. Nicole is short, more healthy weight, and on the healthier side. The two of them are best friends and like sisters.

I feel like after using Hope and Nicole a lot more in LotD, that they would react to certain things differently. Hope, after all, is an airhead and someone with little to no brain to mouth filter. She would be more blunt and honest, not really pulling any word punches. Nicole is headstrong and bullheaded, she would be more willing to say and do a lot more if something wrong was happening to her friends once she found out about it. So, if these two OCs act differently than in the older version of this story, that's the point. I have developed these OCs more as time went on.

Oh, and before the story starts - HAPPY BIRTHDAY ERROR~!!!

If you all can't tell, I love Error. I have so many versions of him and stories about him that it's not that hard to tell, am I right?

Now, with all that in the way, I hope you all enjoy this story.

-Chapter Start-

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.

PCOS.

This syndrome makes it harder for woman to become pregnant, can cause said pregnancy to have many complications, like making the woman have a higher chance for a miscarriage because of the unbalanced hormones.

Taking that and adding in a already weak body and health; thin, little to no body fat, high metabolism, low blood pressure, and immune system on the weaker side - it would be best to just not get pregnant.

When told this, Hope wasn't shocked too much. Yes, it hurt knowing that she was a high risk and there was a big chance she might never get pregnant if she wanted to. But in the end, she knew there were other options.

{It's a shame it seems like her husband didn't know about the other options or even stop to think about them.}

It was a good thing that Hope didn't mind not getting pregnant. Even before she found out she had PCOS she honestly was weary about creating a child inside of her, it only because she could barely eat enough for herself with her high metabolism. She honestly eats a ton of high calorie dishes and yet never gains a pound, eating for two seemed like it was impossible for her. Why not get a segregate mother, a test tube baby, or even just adopting. There were many ways to get a child so long as you had the money, time, patience and drive.

So, why was it that she was standing in front of her bathroom mirror, looking into her own tear filled hazel eyes, about to leave a house that no longer felt like a home.

"Sans......I can't do this anymore......"

This was a long time coming after all what had happened these past months.

Hope knew deep down, that after everything that happened, she can't stay with Sans anymore.

After all, once a cheater always a cheater. If he did it once, he'll do it again. There's always that chance. And even if he never did it again, it doesn't erase what he already did.

It doesn't change the fact that she no longer trusts him anymore.

But, who can blame her?

And to think, just before he told her he was cheating on her eight months ago, she had been planning to tell him about all the options so that they could get a child together - even if said child doesn't come out of her own womb.

---------------------------------8 MONTHS AGO---------------------------------------

".....What." A very tall, thin, paled skinned woman slowly said in pure shock. Her hazel eyes wide behind her large green glasses in shock and growing horror. Running a trembling hand through her very short brown hair that had natural red highlights, the woman fixed her side-swept bangs almost absentmindedness as she stared at the smaller Monster across the kitchen table. Her other hand was under the table, gripping her green baggy sweater so tightly that it was cutting off blood to her fingers.

Hope Azlea Honey nee Snowdin felt like she was falling into a fast dissent into madness.

And it was all her husband's, Sans Snowdin's, fault. The Monster who she had been married to for three whole years.

"Did you just tell me you've been cheating on me for two months and got the woman who you've been having an affair with pregnant and is now about a month along." Hope blankly asked, feeling like she was having an out of body experience. That, or she was slowly going numb.

"Y-Yes...." Sans bit his lip, eyes pleading and filled with guilt. "I-I'm so sorry baby....."

"If you're sorry then why did you do it?!" Hope asked before the tears started to fall, her body just feeling numb as shock takes over. Trembling, she lifted her hands up to her mouth, trying to stop her sobs.

"No, no! Don't cry! Please, Hope, baby, I didn't mean for this to happen!" Sans quickly shot forward, hands reaching out to take Hope's. Hope allowed it, because she couldn't even the energy to move as she cried.

"I-I was just lashing out! After finding out that we couldn't have a baby together I was just so hurt that I lashed out!" Sans quickly tried to explain, tears in his eyes. "I-I was just so lost for those few months, getting drunk out of mind and-and Lora was just there. There at the time when I was just so-so-so lost! I-I'm sorry Hope, I love you and only you! I didn't mean for this to go on! Please, please, understand that I love you more than anything!"

A large part of her was numb from shock that all this was happening to her.

A little part of her wanted to jump across the table and start strangling her cheating husband until there was nothing but dust on the ground.

Did.....Did he not think she wasn't hurt by the fact that she couldn't get pregnant without complications? That there was a high chance of never getting pregnant or of a miscarriage if she did?

She had thought giving him time would be the best after they found out this fact about herself. That those two months was him getting used to the new knowledge. And in those two months, she had been hard at work getting information on how to get a baby in different ways than pregnancy. There were so many options - and it was stupid of her to think that Sans would be excited as her to see them.

Hope always wanted children. She understood that while pregnancy was still a high risk option, something that might never happen either as that is always a chance, sometimes the safer options should be looked at first.

But, it seems like Sans was just stuck on the fact that her getting pregnant with his child was a 1% chance, and said chance has too many risks attached to it. So, instead of talking it out with her like an adult should, he went out and had sex with another woman for two months and got said woman pregnant. If Sans wanted, Hope would have been willing to keep trying for that 1% chance so long as he looked and thought about the other options - so long as he talked to her and told her what he was feeling rather than going out and just getting drunk and having sex with another woman.

That little part of her that wanted to strangle Sans grew an inch just thinking about it all. Listening to Sans ramble on and on about how he loved her made her feel more numb.

"Ju....Just stop." Hope eventually got out, shuddering as she blinked away her tears. "I....I love you too."

{She still is in love with him. It's true.}

"Really?" Sans asked in relief, realizing with a smile. When Hope nodded, he beamed, gripping the hands that he held in his own tighter. "Don't you worry Hope - I'll make this up to you! I swear, once the baby is born, that I'll spend the rest of my life making this up to you."

{But, she also knew......}

Sitting there numb, listening to Sans' promises, Hope wanted to laugh. Hysterically. Something in her shaking as if about to break.

{....that sometimes, love isn't enough to make up for everything.}

Not once did the 23 year old think this would happen to her. This was the type of thing she only thought would happen in movies, TV shows, musicals - just never to herself. Sure, she married young. Yes, she wasn't the best wife out there. But that didn't mean she thought that this was possible for her relationship - her marriage.

Looking blankly at her beaming husband, Hope for a fleeting moment, thought of how her life would have been if she had met, dated, and married someone else. Would they have cheated on her when they both found out she had POCS? Or would they have stayed by her side while she cried at night when she found out about it all and never left her side at all?

{Sometimes, love fades. Love changes. Love isn't enough. And that most of the time, self-love and self-respect are the two most important things to consider when love and trust between two people suddenly starts to crumble.}

-----------------------------7 MONTHS AGO--------------------------

"How about this one?" A woman with healthy tan tan skin, long curly blond hair, a mole on her right cheek, and a healthy body asked, holding up a little blue dress. She had a small bump on her stomach that was growing with each passing month, and she looked to be glowing brightly under the artificial lights of the store.

"That's a cute dress, but I still think it's going to be a boy." The slightly taller skeleton Monster that stood right beside her chuckled, leaning closer to her.

"A mother knows best, Sans." The woman huffed playfully with a pout, gaining a laugh from the Monster.

A few feet away from the two, stood Hope pushing the shopping cart - dark marks under her eyes as she took in the two not far from her. Eyes scanning them up and down as she leaned against the cart.

The woman, Lora, was her opposite. A soprano voice to her alto voice. A large chest to her small chest. A large butt to her smaller one. Short, only coming to her stomach, to her tall. Long, lushes curly hair, to her short, fine hair. Shinning green eyes to her now dull hazel eyes. A healthy weight with some nice fat to her thin bony body - anyone could see her bones easily, it was like she was nothing but skin and bones and only had her DNA, genetics and high metabolism to blame. No glasses to speak of, while she needed glasses on every moment until it was time to sleep. Cuter clothes; a brown sweater dress, black leggings and brown boots, to her more plain clothing; a green plaid shirt, blue jeans, and green wedged shoes.

On one hand, Hope wanted to grad those long locks of hair, and then slam Lora's head on the cold tile floor until there's nothing but brain matter spewed everywhere. But, then again, Hope still had no idea if Lora actually knew Sans was taken or not while this affair was going on. If she did, then yes, she holds some blame. But if not, then it is all on Sans.

There's also the fact that Lora is pregnant that makes sure she doesn't lash out at Lora even if it is or is not partially her fault for all this happening. Hope's morals might be on the more grey side of things, she'll admit to that, but she's not about to be the reason for a unborn child being hurt or dying.

Glancing to the skeleton Monster, Hope felt a pang in her chest when she saw how good they looked together. Sans was only slightly taller than Lora, while to her, her only came up to her lower chest area. Hope was even a bit taller than Papyrus, so she was usually taller than most people. But that didn't change the fact that most males preferred someone shorter than themselves. Not taller.

Taking in a deep breath, Hope, not for once, wished she was anywhere else but in the store with them. She had no idea why Sans asked her to come. Maybe he wanted her to feel involved? But why would she want to be involved with the baby created by an affair, her husband apart of said affair?

Just because she couldn't blame the unborn baby and not hate them, doesn't mean she wants to be apart of their life. She knows even now, that just looking at the baby will just bring back memories of all this happening. It would be best for her to not be apart of the baby's life in her own opinion. She doesn't want to be a negative influence on the baby. Maybe one day, she could look the child in the eyes fine - but she didn't know when that day would be, if ever.

Sans forcing her to do all this, forcing her to be apart of the baby process, was just putting more salt on the wound for her.

Forcing her to watch how random people watch him and Lora act like a couple, when she was the one married to him, made her want to scream and throw something. Hope has lost count of how many people have complimented Lora and Sans, how sweet and nice they look. What a lovely couple they were.

How much in love they looked.

All with her right behind them.

Yet, not once, did Sans say anything against it. Lora just smiling and leaning onto Sans as if he was her husband.

Bending down to place her head on the cart handle, Hope closed her tired eyes and sighed, lightly trembling as she listened to the Monster that should be her husband, and the woman that is pregnant with his child - who should have been her - laugh and talk, forgetting she was even there.

Something in her cracks a little with each passing day.

------------------------------6 MONTHS AGO-----------------------------

"Hope, how are you doing with all this? Honestly?" A woman with dark brown hair cut into a bob around her chin asked, her dark brown eyes searching the thinner and taller woman up and down with a concerned frown. Leaning forward on the couch, the woman tugged off her black jacket, showing a plain red shirt underneath, and crossed her dark jean covered legs - kicking off her black running shoes.

The woman's dark brown eyes were conflicted, as was her mind. On one hand, she wanted to commit a murder unlike anyone has ever seen. Yet, on the other hand, she wanted to comforter her best friend who was like her sister.

It was safe to say that if Sans come near her at any time, Nicole Gladiolus Nemesis wasn't sure if she would be able to hold back or find it in herself not to lash out.

'But, then again, he should understand, right?' Nicole mentally snorts without any humor. 'After all, he knows all about lashing out, doesn't he?'

"I.....I don't know." Hope admitted, sighing while placing down her drink on the table. Dressed in a pastel green shirt that had butterflies on it, a green skirt, and white leggings, Hope glanced down at her sock covered feet, her wedge shoes right besides the little couch she sat on. Eyes going up, she looked at her best friend sitting across the coffee table. "I....I just want everything to go back to before.....but.....I know that won't happen."

"You're right, it won't." Nicole sadly nodded in agreement. "But, maybe that's for the best that it doesn't. I mean, you now know he can and will cheat now."

Giving a shuddering laugh, Hope couldn't help but give a shaky smile at that. "There's something. If only I could have known that before. Like, if he came with a interview paper or something when he asked me out the first time."

"Like at a job! Gives you a paper listing all his good qualities - but then, at the end, is the notes from past employers, his past relationships; May cheat, go with caution, I wish you the best of luck because you will need it." Nicole mocks, making Hope's laugh grow stronger a bit, a few bittersweet tears falling out.

Then, finally, as if snapping, all the tears started falling out, making her sob into her hands. It's as if what she had been holding back finally came undone. Nicole quickly shot up and rushed to her, sitting next to her taller friend and pulling her down for a hug - letting the woman, who she only came up to her chest, sob into her shoulder.

"N-Nicole....w-what d-d-do I d-do no-now!? He - Sans - H-he ch-cheated on m-me! Wh-What d-do I do?!" Hope sobbed out, making Nicole's heart hurt. How she wanted to trash Sans a good one. She had trusted him with her best friend, and look at what that got her. No.

"That's up to you." Nicole soothed lightly and as gently as she could with anger willing up inside of her. Gently rubbing Hope's back, Nicole took in a deep breath.

"But, you know, leaving him is always an option. Never let anyone tell you that you have to stay with someone who has harmed you."

Leaning onto her friend, Hope took in a shuddering breath, trying to calm her sobs down. Not for the first time, she was honestly grateful for Nicole. Especially when her parents lived out of state. Especially when all her other friends were taking Sans' side. Not even Papyrus had really talked to her. Every single on of the were so excited for the baby, treating Lora with so much care and love, while not once looking at her. They all went about this as if it was fine that Sans did her wrong.

But here, with Nicole in Nicole's house, Hope didn't feel like something in her was slowly but surely break apart piece by piece, slowly but surely cracking little by little until it shatters.

In this little moment, after all that has been happening, Hope couldn't help but give a single sob in pure relief at this.

But, she knew, that as soon as she leaves someone else's house that was starting to feel more like a home than her own, that the feeling of breaking would come back as soon as she has to place on a smile while inside she was slowly breaking apart.

-------------------------------5 MONTHS AGO------------------------------

{"But, you know, leaving him is always an option. Never let anyone tell you that you have to stay with someone who has harmed you."}

What Nicole had told her that day was always on her mind since hearing it. It wouldn't leave Hope. It only grew strong as time went on, going from a faint echo to the forefront of her mind.

("Aww~! This one is adorable, thanks Ms Toriel!")

("Please, my dear, call me Toriel!")

("Open my one next!")

("I told you the baby was going to be a boy!")

("Well, I suppose that father knows best sometimes~")

("Hahaha!")

Laying on her cold bed, Hope listened to the fun going on downstairs.

Listened to the baby shower that was happening in her own home, all without her permission or consent. Listened to the ones she had considered to be her friends celebrate the fact that Sans cheated on her and got someone else pregnant. They didn't even notice her not being down there, and she can hear the pure happiness in their voices as they talk to one another.

She could hear Sans' happiness as he talked. No matter how muffled his voice was, she could hear the joy tainting it without much trouble.

{"But, you know, leaving him is always an option. Never let anyone tell you that you have to stay with someone who has harmed you."}

Glancing around the dark room, laying on a bed that felt too big to being alone in, Hope felt a chill settle in her chest.

'How long has it been since I last shared this bed with Sans?' Hope questioned herself, only to know that answer.

Even since finding out that Lora was pregnant, Sans only had used the bed in their shared room for the first month before mostly staying with Lora. As, in his own words, Lora needed his help. He even had the gall to smile up at her and ask if she understood that. All she could do at the time was nod in shock. After that he had only stayed the night in their own house a few times.

It was after that one time he had tried to have sex with her, only for her to stop him and say she was tried and didn't want to, that he stopped staying the night in their own house they bought together at all after he smiled at her, kissed her, and said he understands. Concentrating fully on Lora right after.

At the time, it hurt. But, now, a part of her is relived.

Because when looking a Sans, when he goes to hug her, tries to kiss her - all Hope can think on how many times Sans must have hugged Lora, kissed her.

How many times Sans must have had sex with Lora.

How many times Sans must have said "I love you" to Lora.

{"But, you know, leaving him is always an option. Never let anyone tell you that you have to stay with someone who has harmed you."}

Hope honestly doesn't want to share a bed with him anymore. Doesn't want to share a house with him anymore. Doesn't want to look at him, talk to him, much less hug or kiss him. Having any type of sexual activities with him made her skin crawl with disgust at the thought of it alone. Sans must have done all this and more with Lora. With someone other than her while they were promised, vowed, together.

For how much Sans hates breaking promises, he broke the biggest one - the one he made at the alter with her.

'Where's the trust?' Hope mentally asked herself, a trembling hand coming up to rub the dark marks under her eyes. She couldn't even sleep in this house anymore, not with all the memories in the halls. How every moment in it felt like a lie.

'Where's the love?'

{"But, you know, leaving him is always an option. Never let anyone tell you that you have to stay with someone who has harmed you."}

Hope isn't going to lie to herself - some part of her still is in love with Sans. Maybe a little bit of her will always love Sans even if it kills her on the inside. It's a hard thing to let go of, after spending so long together.

But, if Sans can throw all that away as easily as he did, then that must mean that he didn't really love her all that much.

And even then, even if she was still in love with Sans, even if that love may never fade given time, that doesn't mean she lost her self-respect and self-love.

{"But, you know, leaving him is always an option. Never let anyone tell you that you have to stay with someone who has harmed you."}

Hope knows herself well.

She's ditsy at best, an airhead and more than a bit dingy. Her sense of humor wasn't always the best as it can be on the darker side of things at times. A lot of things go over her head. She doesn't understand a whole lot about math. She's not the smartest tool in the shed. Sometimes, she is too trusting - a bit on the naive side of things.

Even if she loves Sans, she loves herself more. She's been with Sans for over three years. She's been herself for over 23 years. It was hard not to love and respect herself. She's not perfect, she is human, but she is all she is.

Some part of her might be in love with Sans, another part of her might hate him.

But all of Hope loves herself, respects herself.

{"But, you know, leaving him is always an option. Never let anyone tell you that you have to stay with someone who has harmed you."}

Glancing to the little side table on her side of the bed, Hope rolled over to it and reached out a hand.

Picking up her cellphone, she turned it on and started looking for something. When she found it, her finger paused right before the 'Call' button.

("SANS! You can't name you son 'Ketchup'!")

("Why not, Paps? My two favorite things would be sharing a name then.")

("Haha! Sans, I really don't want our son having that name.")

("Well, I suppose if you don't like it Lora, we can come up with a different name.")

'This is slowly killing me.' Hope took in a deep breath, something in her screaming to just press the button. '....In the end, something has to give.'

{"But, you know, leaving him is always an option. Never let anyone tell you that you have to stay with someone who has harmed you."}

Hope had too much self-respect and love for herself to stay in this situation. It was time to start the process of getting out and moving on. It might take a long time, but one day, she'll be fine. Maybe, one day in far away future, she'll find another love and get married. But, even thinking about that just makes her hurt.

One step at a time.

Pressing the button, Hope put the phone to her ear. One stray tear falling from her eye.

The first step was always the hardest.

{"But, you know, leaving him is always an option. Never let anyone tell you that you have to stay with someone who has harmed you."}

"Hello, Bushroot Agency, how can I help you?" A soothing voice came out of the phone.

Clearing her throat, Hope ignored the muffled happy laughter. "Yes, I need to speak to Abaddon Bushroot. You can tell him that it's Denis Honey's niece."

"Alright, I'll tell him. If he accepts, I will forward your call to his office."

"Thank you." Hope softly thanked, letting the little music coming out of the phone wash over her while the woman put the call on hold. Not even five minutes later, the woman was back.

"Mr. Bushroot will take your call, please hold."

Then, not even a second later, a older man's voice came out of the phone.

"What does my little Mad Honey need?" A deep, dark voice asked with a chuckle.

"I thought you stopped calling me that after I...I got married." Hope softly laughed, wiping the tear marks off her cheeks.

"Never. Once a Honey, always a Honey in my mind. The name suited you better anyways." Abaddon waved it off.

"......You know, you're right." Hope sighed, steeling herself for what she was about to do.

"Mr. Abaddon.....I'd like to hire you...." Gulping down some air, Hope felt something in her get lighter once she finally got the words out. "I....I need to file for a divorce."

The first step was always the hardest.

{"But, you know, leaving him is always an option. Never let anyone tell you that you have to stay with someone who has harmed you."}

But, in the end, Nicole was right.

Hope didn't have to stay with Sans. Didn't want to anymore even if some part of her loves him. Too much of her is screaming in pain. A relationship, a marriage, with no trust will never go anywhere. There is fear that with time, it will just fester until she does something drastic. It's better to just end it all - to get a divorce. That way, Sans will be free to do and sleep with whoever he wants, and Hope can with time heal and maybe one day in the far future if she can find the strength to, find someone who would never even think about doing this to her.

It was time to think for herself.

Sans cheated on her.

She had too much self-respect and love to stay with a cheater - with someone who has harmed her. Everyone can tell her to stay with him - but she's not going to listen to them. She's always been one to never listen to the crowd anyway. Let them have each other.

The first step is the hardest.

But, it is also the most gratifying once you step over it.

-------------------------------4 MONTHS AGO-------------------------------

Shifting on the expensive chair, Hope glanced around the office around her. It was well designed. She refused to look out the window, knowing how high up she was. Getting vertigo and then fainting in the lawyer's office wouldn't be the best - as Sans' number is the first one to call still if she goes to the hospital. And while she honestly thinks he wouldn't answer the call because of how busy he is with Lora, she didn't want to take the chance of him finding out where she is. Not yet.

Looking down at her pastel pink blouse, flowery skirt, black tights and dress shoes, Hope pushed up her glasses as she thought this is the most she dressed up for in a while.

Then again, it's not everyday that she ends up filing for a divorce. Might as well look nice while doing it.

"Now, just a few questions before I get everything in order." Hope lifted her head, looking at the man sitting at the desk in front of her. He was tall, taller than ever her, with very pale skin, almost grey like, black eyes like the abyss itself and black hair slicked back. He wore a black suit with a red dress shirt, black dress shoes, and had a black fedora on his head as well, shadowing his eyes.

Abaddon Bushroot, while in his early fifties, looked like someone you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alleyway, much less in the court of law. Hope knew this well, as his nickname in court was the 'Angel Of Death' with how many cases he has won. With how many people he has gotten sentenced to death.

But, right now, he might as well be the angel of light to her - because with him being her lawyer, at a huge discount at that, she knows that this divorce will get through and done.

"Do you want to change your last name back." Abaddon didn't really ask, but had the patience to wait for an obvious answer. He sat with a paper in front of him, a pen waiting to write down in one hand. Hope couldn't help but give a little shaky smile.

"Yes. I want to be Hope Azalea Honey.....not Snowdin." Hope stated, glancing at her naked ring finger. Sans didn't even notice when she took off her engagement ring and wedding band.

"Then we'll make sure that as soon as he signs and it's filed, you'll get that changed." Abaddon explained, writing down her answer. "If you ever decide to get married again, maybe you should have your spouse take your last name." He offered up with a chuckle, making Hope give a weak smile.

"Now, a last but very important question, do you want anything?" Abaddon actually asked, leaning forward a bit on his desk as he stared at Hope. His smile was dark and promising. "As the injured party, as he is the one who committed infidelity, I am sure I can get the judge to rule in your favor if you want ownership of the house and anything else."

Leaning back on her chair, Hope thought back to the empty cold house that hasn't been her home for a long time now. Thought to the memories that littered the hall. Making everything hurt more and more - becoming more bitter than sweet.

It was suffocating in that house.

"No.....no I don't want the house." Hope slowly said, shivering at the thought of having to live in that house for much longer. Licking her lip, Hope thought for a moment on what she truly wanted.

"I....I just want my things." Hope frowned, thinking about it. "My clothes, jewelry, and items. Like my collectibles, comics, art supplies - things like that. I don't want that house or the furniture in it. Just my things - he can keep the engagement ring and wedding band too. I don't want them."

"Well, that takes some of the fun out of it." Abaddon hummed, making Hope giggle at the fact that Abaddon really want to tear Sans a new one in court. "I'll make sure that you get a nicely sized check from him, to make sure you can find yourself a place or rent one out."

"I don't need money-" Hope started to say, only to get cut off by Abaddon.

"You are entitled to at least some of it, if not for the pain you went through than for the fact that you do not have a high paying job. I know he has a child on the way, but he has a high paying job in the government. I've seen the records of what he gets payed - he can handle it. If you do not want to spend the money you get, then save it - invest it, give it all to charity. It doesn't matter, only that you will be getting something out of this." Abaddon's tone didn't give any space for an argument, making Hope's die on her tongue before it even came out.

Seeing that she wouldn't say anything against his argument, Abaddon gave a short nod and then went on. "So, everything you own - from clothing, jewelry, items - and the money you are entitled to. You also want to get rid of "Snowdin" as a sir name, putting "Honey" back in it's place." Checking over what he has written, Abaddon tapped his pen on the paper. "Is there anything else that you can think of? What you would want out of the divorce? Any questions?"

The one good thing about how hard and nearly impossible it was for her to get pregnant was the fact she wouldn't have to be fighting for custody. That thought alone made her want to laugh. Luckily, although she doesn't think Abaddon would mind if she did start laughing out of nowhere, she held that back and went through everything. There wasn't much she needed or wanted, just to have her name changed back to what it was before getting married, and keeping what's her's.

But.....there was one single worry.....

"The divorce will go through.......no matter what?" Hope bit her lip in worry, clinching her hands together in her lap.

Abaddon finally looked up from the paper - his eyes fierce and intense. "The only thing he can do is fight the settlement on a divorce - who gets what. Once you sign the divorce papers, he must sign them as well. He will have roughly 90 days to sign them before he is summoned to court before a judge, asking to give a reason as to why he hasn't signed yet. If it's not a good reason - such as not wanting to give you something for whatever foolish reason or claiming that he is owed something from you - then he will be forced to sign. Saying he doesn't want to, that he doesn't want a divorce simply because he still 'loves you' isn't a good enough reason when you, yourself, do not want to be married to him. Forcing you to stay with him when you don't want to would be a type of slavery. After that, it is waiting for the divorce papers to be filed, which can take up to 12 weeks to a full year, but with me on the case, you will be sure it will take as little time as possible."

Abaddon then leaned back on his chair, crossing his legs and folding his hands together. "After you sign, calling me to let me know so that I can put them in effect, the only way for this marriage to stop is if both parties do not want it to happen. Meaning, you would have to be the one to call off the divorce."

'Fat chance of that.' Hope snorted at the very thought, making Abaddon chuckle.

"It will take time to settle the official papers." Abaddon got up, helping Hope up before leading her to the door. "In a few months, I will call you so that you can come pick them up. After that, all you need to do is read it over, sign it, and let me know when you do so that I can put it in effect."

Just as she was out of the door, Abaddon stopped her one more time.

"If he gives you any trouble during those 90 days, let me know." Abaddon eyes promised pain, truly looking like an ever dark abyss. "A restraining order along with the divorce will be the least of his worries once I am done with him."

At times like these, it pays to have connections.

It's also times like these that make Hope that she never once was the enemy in Abaddon's eyes. She has a feeling that anyone who angers Abaddon wouldn't have long to live, or at least be a free person for long. Abaddon is the type of person who could convict an innocent person, he's that convincing and sly.

Hope could only thank the heavens that Abaddon was on her side, because this meant that one day, she would be fine. She would get through this, slowly but surely. With people like Abaddon Bushroot and Nicole Nemesis supporting her, Hope knew without a doubt she would get through this.

Just thinking about it made something in her feel lighter, even if she knew that before she would truly be okay, more pain was to come.

--------------------------------3 MONTHS AGO-------------------------------

It said a lot with how awkward it was to be alone with her brother-in-law when he used to be around her nearly everyday after meeting him - before even marrying his brother.

Maybe Hope was the only one to notice. Peering over to the kitchen where Papyrus was stirring some tomato sauce, he didn't seem to notice it at all. Humming a happy tune while he cooked.

Papyrus had randomly came into the house, using his own spare key to get in, stating that he needed to use the kitchen because Undyne and him had cause his own kitchen to burn down once again. Hope just let him, it wasn't like she could tell him no. It might hurt that he hasn't really talked to her, hasn't spent any time with her since everything that has happened, but she wasn't about to kick him out.

Not when, sooner or later, she wouldn't be living in this house. Might as well let him get used to cooking in it, as she can see him moving in with his brother once she's out. Maybe even Lora and the baby will move in as well.

It burns her to think of another woman sleeping where she used to be. But, on the other hand, the best kind of revenge is letting her have Sans. If she wants a cheater that is, Lora can have him. If not, then there's no shame for not taking him - everyone deserves better than a cheater after all. It's not like Hope knows if Lora knew she was committing an affair or not, although Lora hasn't once said anything about it. But it's not like Hope tries to talk to her or be around her at all either.

Shaking off those thoughts, Hope turned away from the kitchen to head upstairs. It was best to pack what she wanted to now so that she's not scrambling when the divorce papers come in. Once the divorce is settled, then she can come over with Nicole and pack everything up that is her's to take.

"Hope?"

Jolting a bit, Hope quickly turned around to see Papyrus looking at her with an unreadable expression. Then, it turned into his bright, signature smile.

"I....I know everything has been a bit rough for you lately."

'A bit?' Hope slowly tilted her head, heart pounding her in chest.

"Sans....he really does love you! So much! I remember when he first met you - he hasn't laughed that hard in years! And when he first asked you on that date, I thought he would faint from how nervous he was!"

Something in her started to harshly shake, the very thought of those memories making her want to vomit.

"So, I'm really happy to see you still with him." Papyrus beamed brightly, looking so happy. "Seeing Sans so happy means a lot to me. He's done so much for me as a big brother, you know?"

'But I'm not the one making Sans happy, am I?' Hope blankly thought to herself, feeling a bit numb. 'What about my own happiness? Sans isn't making me happy anymore.'

"Oh, I know! I was just making dinner for him and Lora - they've been so busy setting up the nursery in Lora's home, I didn't want them to worry about dinner." Papyrus put his hands on his hips, looking proud. "Only a great Monster like me thinks of these things, nyeh! Why don't you help me, Hope? It'll be fun to cook together again!"

'I'll put poisons in that food if I help.' Hope wasn't even lying to herself. If she went over there and helped, she would do something she may or may not end up regretting. All she knew was that she didn't want to find out if she would end up regretting it or not. Better to remove herself from the temptation - even if she is 98.9% sure that Abaddon could make sure that she doesn't go to jail or convicted of anything if she actually went through with it.

"I'm busy, Papyrus." Hope stated, turning around. Feeling so heavy. "I have some things to do upstairs, then I have to work on some the illustrations for my next children's book. Never mind that I have to work on some of my comic illustrations too."

She has never been so thankful with having deadlines for her illustrations and writing. Being a author is hard work, but man, does it make the perfect excuse to get out of things.

"I see. That's fine! I'll see you later....right?" Papyrus called out, voice happy and bright.

Not even turning around, Hope started walking to the stairs. "Sure, Papyrus. Later."

As soon as she was up the stairs, the bedroom door shut, tears started rolling down her face. Silently crying, Hope stumbled to what used to be her shared desk with Sans. Gathering the papers and notebooks on it, she quickly went to the bed. Pulling out a large suitcase from under it, Hope stuffed her artwork and work books inside of it.

Everything in her hurts, as if it was cracking.

She couldn't want to be able to leave this place forever.

Closing her eyes for a moment, Hope carefully wiped the tears that never seemed to stop away.

'I'm not okay right now. I might not be okay for a long while. But that's okay. It's okay to not be okay. Because, I am on my way to being okay.' Taking in a shuddering breath, Hope opened her eyes once more. Glancing to the closet door, Hope got up and went to it.

Might as well pack her favorite clothes now rather than later.

If nothing else, it will take her mind off the fact that her whole life around her is crumbling - and now she is forced to pick up the pieces and reshape it for her own health and self-respect and love. But, that's fine.

One day, everything will be fine and okay.

-------------------------------2 MONTHS AGO----------------------------------

"No." Hope didn't even have the patience to pause, pretending to think about her answer, before bluntly blurting it out.

"Sans really wants you to paint the nursery, Hope." Undyne rubbed the back of her neck, glancing away with a slight grimace.

Hope honestly never saw this coming. Dressed in nothing but a Scooby-Doo sweater, Jack Skellington fuzzy sleeping pants, sitting at the kitchen table early morning with Undyne in her police uniform sitting across from her asking the impossible from her.

'Sans can go fuck himself.' Hope almost bluntly said, but got a hold of her little brain to mouth filter for a single moment. Taking in a calming breath, Hope just wanted to go back to bed. "I'm not doing it. I'm busy with work right now, a big deadline is coming up. If Sans really wanted me to paint a whole nursery, he should have asked me months ago." 'When I was more emotionally unstable enough to say yes to it.' was left unsaid even if Hope wanted to scream it.

"I know Sans should be asking you himself." Undyne nodded as if agreeing, focusing on the wrong part. "But he's been too busy helping Lora. With the baby being due soon, he doesn't want to leave her side or stress her too much."

'He's been more than just busy with Lora two months before I even knew about her.' Hope really wanted to point that out, but held herself back because she didn't want to get into an bigger argument match with a police officer. Especially a police officer with a known explosive anger.

"That still doesn't change the fact that I'm too busy now." Hope settled on saying, not wanting to touch the topic of Sans and Lora. It still stung, still made it feel as if she was slowly but surely shattering inside. Forcing on a smile, Hope looked at Undyne and hoped that her lack of sleep showed too much. "You can tell Sans that - I'm sure he'll understand like I had to."

Undyne looked at her with an unreadable expression. Hope looked right back, ditsy smile on her face while slowly dying on the inside the longer this goes on.

------------------------------1 MONTH AGO------------------------------------

"Thank you so much for being so understanding Hope." Sans brightly smiled up at his wife, love in his eyes as he stared up at her, holding one of her hands and gently rubbing it.

"Uh-huh." Hope just plastered on a smile, no love in her eyes only pain, slowly nodding as if she didn't want to rip her hand away from the Monster sitting across from her and then slap him with said hand.

She wonders why he doesn't notice her fake smile and pain in her eyes. Maybe it's a sign that he never loved her?

Either that or he's delusional.

Either way doesn't make anything easier on her with him sitting on the coffee table in front of her while she sits on the couch - them for once alone and together, and him acting as if everything was fine. It might be fine with him, but not with her. And he doesn't seem to see that, or want to see that.

"Soon, I'll be able to make it all up to you." Sans gave a goofy smile, lifting up her hand to nuzzle into it. It made Hope want to yank it away. "I love you so much Hope. You're the best wife I could ever have dreamed up or asked for." Sighing airily, Sans opened his eyes and beamed up at his wife. "Just a little longer and everything will be back to normal. Only we'll have some little feet running around! Isn't that exciting?"

It took everything in Hope to just give a tilt of her head - not a nod, but a gesture that could be confused with agreeing - while keeping her smile. All of this, everything, Sans is slowly but surely making something in her want to shatter to the point of no return.

"I know I haven't been around a lot, Lora's due date is soon, but I'm going to make it all up to you. I promise." Sans said that as if it meant something to Hope. He already broke the most important promise to her, she already knew he would and could break this one if she let him.

She wasn't going to let him, because soon, she'll be on the road of becoming a single woman once more.

"You know, when at our first date, I knew I loved you as soon as you said-" Sans started to say, going down memory lane, before his cellphone rang. Luckily, that meant he had to let go of her hand to get up and go to it.

As soon as Sans got up and his back was turned, Hope wiped her hand on the couch. It should shock her how disgusted she is to touch Sans. It doesn't though. Not when all she can think about is how many times Sans must have held Lora's hand, must have had done all that and more to and with her.

Sans quickly came back in, phone to his 'ear', giving her a guilty smile. Hope's heart would have sank if she wasn't so numb to this by now.

"Sorry Hope, Lora needs me. I love you and I'll try to see you soon, okay? Bye baby~!" Sans blew her a kiss for a goodbye before teleporting out of the house. Good thing to, or he would have seen Hope's nose twist in disgust at the blown kiss.

Sighing, Hope went to get up to take a bath, when suddenly her own phone started to vibrate on the coffee table.

Picking up and checking the number, her eyes widened. Quickly accepting the call, she pressed the phone to her ear. "Hello, Hope speaking."

"They're here and waiting for pickup. Come by Monday and I'll have them all ready for you to take home and sign. We can go over it together if need be."

For the first time in a long time, a light and hopeful smile grew on her face.

-----------------------------A FEW HOURS AGO-----------------------------------

"Thank you for letting Sans have this Hope." Toriel beamed at the woman sitting on the plastic chair across the somewhat narrow hall from her. "I know this must be difficult, but it is truly admirable of you to let Sans have this without complications."

'If I were to slap her, would I get arrested for just hitting a random person, or for hitting someone who is royalty.' Hope thought to herself, trying to fight the need to just scream or throw something. Because here was someone she once trusted, saw as a friend, telling her this as if it is Sans' right that he had a affair. That it's okay. That Hope was depriving him of something.

Shaking those thoughts away for now, Hope glanced around at everyone gathered in the hospital hall. All the Monsters she had once considered her friends were there - all with gifts and balloons. All looking so excited and happy. Frisk was there as well, just looking at her with their closed eyes as if trying to see something from her yet can't. Sans and Lora in one of the rooms, as Lora was in the process of giving birth finally.

It was hilariously insulting that Sans had asked her to be in the room while Lora was giving birth. That it would be fine that she, his wife, watch another woman he had cheated on her with for two months, give birth to a baby that honestly should have been her's or not happen at all. Luckily for him, as she honestly came close to just hitting him if he pressed, she made up a excuse he accepted without thought. She just said that she didn't want to chance fainting after seeing it all and adding to the stress of everything.

'Just a little longer. Just a little longer. Then, I can go home and just sign the papers.' Hope sighed through her nose, wanting to just wish this was all a dream. But she knew it wasn't. Life was so cruel. It makes her wonder if something better was waiting for her or not.

When the sound of a door opening echoed out, Hope opened her eyes and lifted her head to see the doctor coming out with a smile.

"The birth went fine, both mother and baby boy are fine." The doctor looked a little awkward while saying this. Hope didn't blame him, as he had accidentally called Lora Sans' lover, only to be corrected by Frisk of all people, as not even Sans was going to do that - he never did before. If nothing else, what the doctor says will be true eventually, as Hope isn't going to be Sans' anything eventually so Lora can take that place if she wants to.

"They can take visitors now, but please, not everyone at once."

As the doctor left, everyone had the nerve to turn and look at her, as if she should be the one to go in first.

Instead of giving into their peer pressure, Hope gave her best airheaded smile. "I'm feeling a bit light headed after all this excitement. I'm going to get something to eat before anything else - why don't you all go in first?"

"Thank you, dear!" Toriel smiled gently, getting up with her gift and heading to the door with a skip in her step. Alphys glanced at her a few times while she got up to go too, Undyne just sighing before smiling and heading in as well. Papyrus beamed, rushing to get in the room. Frisk got up but paused while Hope got up.

Glancing at the child, Hope tilted her head in question. Frisk looked at her before signing.

"It's be okay eventually."

"Eventually." Hope agreed with a smile, making Frisk frown as if feeling something off but couldn't find what. Turning around, Hope walked as fast as she can to get out of the place. She couldn't bring herself to see how happy Sans is with the baby he always wanted, with the woman he cheated on her with multiple times. If she's being honest, Hope would bet that they looked like the happiest family.

It would break her to see that. So, she's not going to. No, not when soon, with a little signature, she would be on her way to being okay one day.

'It'll be okay, just not in the way you want it to be or expect it to be.'

--------------------------------PRESENT TIME-------------------------------------

Opening her eyes, Hope let out a sob as everything from the past long months hit her all at once. Slapping a hand over her mouth, Hope glared into the mirror. Lifting a hand in anger, she made a fist as if to hit the mirror with it.

'He was supposed to love me! Supposed to be there forever! Why did he go and cheat on me?! FOR TWO MONTHS?! No, he's still cheating on me! Doesn't matter what he says, emotional cheating is as much a thing as physical cheating!' Her fist trembled as she screamed silently into her hand. 'Why?! WHY!? Doesn't he love me-!'

As if someone pulled a plug, the anger left her. Slowly putting down her fist, Hope looked down at the sink, watching her own tears fall on the marble.

'He....doesn't love me.' Hope gently moved her hand away from her mouth, giving a little sob. 'If he loved me, truly was in love with me or loved me enough, he wouldn't have cheated on me at all. If he had any respect for me, he would have been honest with him at the start and just told me he wanted a divorce when he found out about my POCS and that he couldn't live with that. I....I don't need his abusive love. He has neglected me, cheated on me multiple times, then has the nerve to try and force me to do things I don't want to do at all.'

'And, if I don't leave now, he'll keep doing this.' That thought alone shook her to her core, making her gag a little of having to live like this for years.

Blinking away her tears, Hope looked at the mirror for a finale time, taking in her messy appearance.

"I'm not fine right now.....and that's fine." Hope lowly told herself, looking deeply into her reflection's hazel eyes. "One day, I am going to be fine. I am on the right road for it. One day, I am going to get past this. I have the support system, I have the self-respect, the self-love, to get there. And then, one day, in the far, far, faaaaar, future, I am going to move on from Sans. I am going to find a better person to fall in love with, someone who would never think about cheating on me, someone who treats me better. Lora can have Sans if she wants him. I don't need him. It might take a long time, but I am going to be fine. Hope Azalea Honey, you are going to be fine - and more importantly happy once all this is said and done."

Dressed in her favorite green sweater with a white heart painted on it, blue jeans, and wedge shoes, only one thing was missing before she could leave the bathroom. Reaching over, she picked up a green hand knitted beanie her Mother made for her years ago. Putting it one, Hope gave her reflection a bittersweet smile before reaching over and opening the bathroom door.

Stepping out of the bathroom, Hope went down the hallway and down the stairs.

"You ready?"

Looking up, Hope smiled at Nicole. Reaching down the grabed her purse and one of the suitcases, Nicole already carrying a gym bag and two other suitcases, Hope nodded at Nicole. "Yeah.....yeah, I'm ready to get out of here and not come back any time soon."

"Then let's go, I got the car on and warming up." Nicole said, nudging the front door open. Hope made sure to lock it before shutting it, turning to follow her best friend.

"Thanks for letting me stay with you, Nicole." Hope gave her friend a bright smile that was slightly brittle at the edges as they walked to the car.

Nicole just rolled her eyes fondly. "Hope, you can stay with me for as long as you like - forever if you need to. I don't care, it's not like you won't do your share of the chores." Then, Nicole's smile got impish. "Besides, this way I can eat your cooking everyday."

That shocked a laugh out of Hope, making Nicole smile at the sound.

"I see! Hahaha! You just want me for my cooking!"

"That and your good looks. But don't worry, I'll make sure you see sunlight daily even if I just want to keep you inside cooking for me all the time."

"Hahaha!"

For once, Hope felt nothing but lightness inside of her. Bubbling up happily.

It might be a long road ahead of her, but she knows she'll be fine.

How can she not be with such a great friend walking besides her, there to catch her if she even so much as trips?

-----------------------------------LATER; WITH SANS-----------------------------------

It shamed Sans that it took him so long to notice that his wife had went home, that she wasn't even in the hospital anymore.

It's just that he was distracted with his new little bouncing baby boy. Serif Snowdin - his little baby boy! How it brought joy to just think that. He had wanted a baby more than anything. While it hurts him that he had lashed out like he did, hurt his wonderful wife like he did, he was grateful that Hope was so understanding about the whole situation.

It had taken a few hours to notice that Hope never showed up in the room, but everyone was quick to assure him she just went to get something to eat. It was only another few hours passed, and ten missed calls, that he realized that something might be wrong.

He knew that whole situation wasn't the best, that it was only adding stress on Hope's already fragile health. It made him worry about her whenever he wasn't by her side, having to help Lora with getting ready for the baby and taking care of her the further she got along. It hurt him to think about Hope being alone in their home without him there. But now, with the baby born, all he had to do was set up a schedule with Lora and he'll have the time needed to show Hope that he loves her so much. That he regrets what he did and will spend the rest of his life making it up to her.

It's with these thoughts that he entered his home with. Thoughts that made him smile, thinking about his wonderful wife and how he'll make everything better now that there's time.

It's the air in his home that made that smile slip from his face.

Their home had always felt so homey, filled with nothing but love. It's what made Hope so wonderful other than her quirky ways and compassion. She was filled with so much love, that it filled their home. When he walks in from a hard day of work, just walking into their home was enough to make him relax with Hope's very essence filling up every nook and cranny.

But now, walking into his own home filled him with dread.

{"Forgiving and forgetting is hard to do."}

Frisk's 'words' before he left came to his mind. At the time, he had been confused. Now though, a horrible picture was being painted in his head.

"Hope?!" Calling out her name, Sans quickly rushed through the home.

When did their home get so cold and quiet?!

"HOPE?!" Nearly tripping over his own feet, Sans rushed into the dinning room, eyes darting place to place just hoping to catch a glimpse of his beautiful, loving and wonderful wife. "Baby!? Where are you!? I'm home! Please come out-!"

Almost running into the dinning table, Sans paused when he saw his name written in familiar handwriting.

Looking at the large brown envelope that had his name written on the front, Sans could feel his SOUL starting to pound. Gulping, with hands that were starting to tremble, Sans reached for the envelope and opened it.

Out tumbled official looking papers, two rings, and a single key.

Tears started to form as he picked up the two rings, choking when he saw that it was Hope's engagement ring and wedding band. They fell from his hands, back onto the table with a small tinging sound as his eyes found Hope's house key, and then his eyes locking on the official looking papers.

With his SOUL sinking, Sans picked them up even if it was obvious what they were - even if his mind and SOUL screamed his denial that this was even happening to him.

Words like 'Infidelity', 'Settlement', and 'Entitlement' screamed at him. But if those written words screamed at him, then that one word at the top roared at him.

'Divorce'.

The papers fell from his shaking hands as he caught sight of his wife's signature at the bottom. Tears rushing down his face as the world around hims started to crumble.

His world, his universe, is gone.

He just lost the best thing to ever happen to him, the one that made life worth living. That made it worth it to wake up in the morning. The one that filled his days with so much love and laughter.

He lost his wife.

He lost his love.

He lost his soul.

He lost his world.

He lost his everything.

And it was all his own fault, he only has himself to blame.

-End Chapter-

Here it is! I hope you all enjoyed this first rewritten chapter! I was in a angsty kind of mood, so I hope that this came through the chapter. I am proud of what I came up with, and the more details added to make the story more fuller and just overall more than one-dimensional. I mean, this chapter alone is over 10,000 words, so I think I did a good job at doing that.

Oh! I wanted to ask you all something! I want to hear everyone's thoughts on which counterparts should come into the story! Like, what skeletons from what AU. I'm still deciding on how many and who should come into the story, so I wanted to hear everyone's thoughts on the matter. It's not a vote or anything like that, but I would like to hear everyone's thoughts.

I also wanted to hear everyone's opinion on that and how'd they would react to everything that is going on. Think about it - you somehow come to a different AU and stuck there for who knows how long, only to soon find out that your counterpart cheated on his wife and is now stuck in a divorce. And that's not counting all the finer details. If I was in that position, I would raise hell to say the least - on the cheater that is, as I would have some words for them.

But the reason why I ask all this from you all, the readers, is because of the fact that I love reading all your comments and thoughts lol. Seriously, the things you all say makes me laugh and inspire me to keep writing.

Now, on to the next chapter!
