Girl Scouts
My experience with the Girl Scouts has been very limited. First was in fourth grade. I was handed a brochure at school, and it looked so fun! I wanted to do fun stuff. So I went home and had the following conversation with my mom:
"Can I join the Girl Scouts?"
"Does it cost anything?"
"Yes."
"Then no."
And that was that. Later interactions would be with actual girl scouts at tables in front of grocery stores and sometimes door-to-door. The conversation would look like this:
"Hi, Miss! Would you like to buy some cookies?"
"No, thank you."
Now I get to deal with coworkers who have kids in the Girl Scouts. These interactions are much more corporate, and look like this...
Email sent to everyone at the office: Hi everyone! As you well know, my daughter is in the Girl Scouts and it's that time again. Cookies! The order sheet is in the break room.
Me: *goes to break room only to get hot water for tea*
What do I have against them? Nothing against the girls themselves. Just seems like an awfully big money-making scheme that uses cute little girls to peddle products for a nationwide organization.
