Unleash The Souls: Ivy And The Demon

Ivy walked through the destroyed living room anxiously, dodging two kids playing football with an expensive vase. She went up the stairs, looking for her boyfriend Rory. They had been there for over two hours and she was ready to leave. These were all his friends anyway.

As she tiptoed down the hall, she bumped into a bookshelf, knocking a magazine onto the floor. Ivy bent down to pick it up, stopping to gaze at its strange cover.

It had been aged, presumably printed in the last century, with symbols stamped in black. Ivy curiously skimmed through the pages, dropping it in horror when she came upon a lithograph of a nightmarish demon, complete with hooves and horns. Who would own a magazine like this? She wondered.

She was already incredibly nervous to be at this type of party anyway, and the open image on the floor wasn't making things any better. Ivy forced herself to pick the book up and slam it shut, before shoving it back onto the shelf.

"Rory!" She called, running down the hall. "Rory!"

Ivy ran into the back bedroom, where her boyfriend was just coming in through the balcony door, his pack of cigarettes in hand.

"What's the matter?" He asked softly, coming to wrap his arms around her. For a second, she contemplated telling him about the magazine, but then realized how stupid it would sound, that she got spooked by a picture.

"Nothing. I just-can we go home?" She pleaded.

"Sure, we'll go." Rory said, hugging her closer. Ivy's heart stopped when she rested her head on his shoulder and laid her eyes on the balcony door. Just beyond the glass stood the gargantuan, unholy creature she'd seen on the page, just watching.

Ivy grabbed Rory's hand and tried to subtly hurry him down the stairs. Maybe they could make it to the car quickly enough. She stood at the door as he shouted some passing goodbyes to his friends.

"Are you ready now?" She asked anxiously, opening the door.

"Yeah, let's go." He said, pointing to the car parked in the street. They stepped out onto the porch and Ivy ran for the passenger side door, pulling the handle impatiently. Rory unlocked the doors and came around. Ivy opened hers and got in, sighing in relief.

Rory closed his door and looked in the mirror.

                  "Uh..." He said, trailing off.

"What?" Ivy asked, in pure terror.

                "What's that?" Rory asked.

Fear-stricken, Ivy turned around, not entirely sure she wanted to see. There in the backseat was the creature again, his scarlet complexion obscured by the shadows. Funny, the only detail the lithograph missed were unsightly, whitewashed eyes.

In that split second, the demon lashed out at the pair in the front seats, with its grotesque talons.
