The October moon is high

           Hanging like a spotlight in the sky

           Tonight she'll walk the town she used to know

            Stand in every street lantern's glow

            Tonight is the night

             In a few years' past

             She faded away under the moonlight

              Now when the children wear disguises of fear

              When every mile is adorned with a pumpkin's twisted smile

               She goes home to the ones she loved

                Her heart breaks for the tears cried for her

                 As she watches an illuminated window

                 Her feet standing forever in the shadows

                  And when the owls fly away

                  Their presence replaced by the light of day

                   This spirit of the night

                   Disappears from sight

                   A soul that's gone to rest

                   Always anticipating Halloween's next
