Chapter 22
(Y/N POV)
Till the sun shines through my eyes.
"Where's Aidan?"
The girl had pink hair, a color I wasn't expecting to see, and piercing grey eyes. Freckles adorned her face, and her lips were cherry red; her lipstick was almost blinding.
"He got caught up in something, so couldn't make it," I said, "he wished he could be here."
She seemed to debate my response, an earnest look of confusion on her face. I couldn't stop looking at her eyes though, they seemed to stare me down in interest. Her lips curled up into a smile, and her eyes lit up.
"You must be Y/N," she exclaimed, "pleasure to meet you!"
She stuck out her hand, and I shook it wearily. I don't know what I was expecting Nina to be like, but this definitely wasn't it. She brushed back a strand of her rose-colored hair, and tucked it behind her ear.
"Nice to meet you too," I stuttered, "how do you know me?"
"Aidan told me all about you. All good things, don't worry."
"Cool, the uber's outside," I said, "I can take you back to the hotel."
I wandered back outside, Nina dragging her suitcases behind me. I helped her store her bags in the car's trunk, and we both climbed into the back seat. Once the vehicle started to move, we began a conversation.
"So how long have you known Gallagher?" she asked
I froze up when I heard her call him by his last name. 'It sounds better when you say it'. Did Aidan really mean that? I shuddered, and turned my focus back onto the girl sitting next to me.
"Three days," I answered, "it's not a long time, I know."
"Only three days? Wow. You must be really special then."
"Special?"
"Yeah he's only known you for less than a week and he won't stop talking about you. He's enamoured, I swear."
I bit my lip, trying not to smile. Nina didn't sound like she was joking, but a part of me just couldn't believe anything that came out of her mouth. It seemed like I was living in a Rom-com, and those things are always too good to be true.
"That's sweet," I said, blushing, "but I hardly know the guy."
"Then get to know him better!"
"I don't know. I really don't want to get attached."
I was only staying for another week before I had to fly back home. No one but myself knew that, and I wanted to keep it that way. Maybe that's why I've been acting so cold around everyone I met; my brain's been keeping me safe from straying emotions.
"Tell me about yourself," I said, "I'm interested."
"I mean, there's really not much to tell. I'm a sophomore, flew to see my best friend here in toronto, and I just broke up with my girlfriend."
"I'm sorry, that must be awful.."
"No, key word, I broke up with my ex. She was a jerk on all levels."
"oH. How so?"
"She told me she was strictly lesbian, but I caught her doing the deeds with multiple guys."
"Ew. those people give a bad impression for the human race."
"Darn right."
The car pulled up to the hotel's drop off, and I pressed the car handle and swung open the door. My shoes touched the stone sidewalk as I jumped out, and made my way over to the trunk. Popping it open, I dragged out the suitcases and bags that Nina had arrived with.
"Thank you so much," she said as we walked in, "you're honestly the sweetest."
"Haha, no it's kind of my job."
It wasn't, but I enjoyed helping out. Nina was actually a really nice person, and I think we could potentially be friends? I can't go and get attached though, maybe not close friends then.
As we got into the elevator, I pressed the button for our level and stood facing the metal slides. Jazz music started to fade into the background, and I had to stifle a laugh. I hadn't noticed the stereotypical music that the hotel had played in thier elevators.
"Haven't even been in this city for an hour," Nina said, "and I'm loving every second of it."
"That's always a good sign."
I felt the sudden shift in the gravity levels as the elevator came to a stop. I held out my arm, gesturing for her to exit first. She nodded a quick thank you, and we made our way towards Aidan's room.
She knocked on his door, and it swung open in a fast blurr.
"Y/N I need your hel-" he said, "Nina?"
