"Hi Mom!" Aera called, opening the door and throwing dropping her bag next to her shoes.
"You're late today," her mom commented, looking at her in concern. "What kept you?"
"I stayed at the cafe to finish my homework," Aera explained. "I'd done most of it at school... but I had a little bit left. I wanted to finish it before I got home."
"How was the first day?" her mom asked, checking on the pot and walking out of the kitchen.
"It was... interesting," Aera said, her thoughts catching on Heeseung. Her heart fluttered when she remembered how he'd put his arm around her. How he'd gotten her number. Her thoughts moved to Sunghoon, then K, and then she remembered the business card she'd been given. She held it up. "I may have gotten another job!" she told her mom excitedly. "I have to check it out first though. Make sure everything is legit."
"That's wonderful," her mom said, hugging her. "You really don't need to be worrying about getting jobs though. Your father and I should be the ones worrying about your college tuition."
"But think about how great all of these jobs will look on my application," she said, grinning. "Plus, they're fun," she insisted, even though they really weren't. "I like meeting new people. Trust me, it's a fun experience," she lied.
Her mom looked as though she didn't quite believe her lies, but nodded anyway, letting go of her.
"I'm going to go look into this, and then I'll shower," Aera told her.
"Dinner will be ready in about... half an hour?"
Aera nodded. "Sounds good," she said, picking up her bag and going into her room. She opened her computer and searched the name of the company.
"It's a real thing," she whispered to herself, looking at the screen in awe. "But why would they hire me?"
She picked up her phone, dialing the number. They picked up on the third ring.
"Hello?" she said nervously. "This is Aera. Shin Aera. K told me-"
"Ah, Miss Aera," the man said. "I was told to expect your call. Have you made a decision?"
"I don't think I can make a decision without knowing how much this job pays," she admitted.
"If you give me your email, I can send you all the details now."
Aera gave him her email, and when she checked it, the details were already in her inbox.
She had to stop herself from gasping aloud.
It wasn't like, an insane amount of money or anything. But it was much more than any of her other part time jobs had paid.
"Do you think you can come in tomorrow?" the man on the other line asked. "We can give you a trial run. Try it tomorrow and see if you like it before you sign the contract. We'll pay you for tomorrow though, of course. And the contract is attached in the email, if you'd like to look it over before coming. The address is there too."
Aera was looking over the contract. There was nothing out of the ordinary.
"I'll be there," she said.
She said her goodbye's and hung up, but immediately her phone rang again. She quickly picked it up.
"Hello?" she said eagerly.
"Were you waiting for my call?"
Aera frowned, checking the number. She sighed. It wasn't the company again.
It sounded like Heeseung.
"You must have been waiting, seeing that you picked up so quickly," he said slyly.
Aera smirked, taking the phone from her ear and hanging up.
"Yep," she said to herself. "I was definitely waiting for your call."
