~ 49 ~
Aera was curled up on her bed, in her pajamas and reading a book, when she heard a knock at the door.
"Come in?" she said tentatively, watching the door open to reveal Heeseung.
She couldn't help it, she really couldn't. The biggest grin came to her face, and she struggled to squash it back down, but she couldn't.
He laughed, closing the door behind him. "You look really excited to see me."
She glanced at the blankets and pillows in his arms. "Those aren't mine..." she said slowly, remembering the sheets that K had taken to wash. Those had been light blue and white. The ones Heeseung was holding were a darker blue color.
"I know," he said, walking over to her and putting a pillow behind her back. He crawled onto bed next to her, draping the covers over them. "They're mine. Aren't I the most generous boyfriend?"
"Are you praising yourself right now?" she teased, shaking her head at him.
Heeseung placed his head on her shoulder, wrapping his arms around her waist. "I missed you," he mumbled into her hair.
"We saw each other like, an hour ago," she said, laughing. "And we were together pretty much the whole day."
"But I've been missing you for so long," he complained, looking up and pouting at her. "You were mad at me for a while."
"And do you blame me?" she huffed, crossing her arms and glaring at him. "First, you were with that other girl. And then you tell me that everything was because of a bet. Of course I was-"
He sat up, pressing a soft kiss against her lips and effectively shutting her up.
"I'm sorry," he said, taking her hand and resting his head on her shoulder again. "I was wrong, and I'm sorry. But..."
"But what?" she whispered.
"But I was scared. And I still am. Scared that you're only going to end up getting hurt because of me. Scared that I'll get hurt if you get too close. Gosh Aera, I'm terrified."
She pulled back, looking into his eyes.
There was genuine fear there.
And vulnerability, something that she'd noticed in him once before.
She wondered what could make a boy, a boy who seemed to have it all, wealth, looks, talent... what made him this scared?
But she didn't ask. She didn't want to pry. If he wanted to tell her, then he would. For now, she'd just be here.
"I can't promise that we'll never get hurt," she said softly, squeezing his hand. "But when I'm with you, I'm happy. You make me happy."
He grinned up at her. "I like you a lot, you know that?"
"As you should," she said, shrugging.
Heeseung laughed again, sitting up and placing an arm around her shoulders, pulling her closer...
And then the door opened.
Heeseung froze, his face centimeters away from hers.
They both looked up to see K standing on the threshold of the door, holding a laundry basket in his hands.
Aera mentally facepalmed. Her sheets. He had her sheets.
K didn't say anything. He just looked at the two of them for a second, a smirk coming to his face as he turned around and left, closing the door behind him.
Heeseung giggled, lying down and closing his eyes. "Well, I guess he knows now."
"As long as Mr.Park doesn't find out, I think I'm okay," she said, lying down under the covers with him.
This time, she wrapped her arms around him, and he turned to face her, returning the embrace. She placed her head against his chest and fell asleep.
If she could fall asleep like this every night, life would be perfect.
