~ 4 ~
Aera took a deep breath, holding onto the strap of her backpack and entering the classroom.
Transferring her senior year. It was so awkward.
But she'd been trying to get into this school for ages. Finally, after a long struggle, she'd made it.
She'd worked really really hard for this. She was going to do well. Graduate problem free. That was the goal.
She touched the fabric of her uniform, the most expensive piece of the clothing she'd ever owned. She watched the other girls file into the classroom, holding bags so expensive she'd never ever dare to touch one.
"Hey new girl," a boy said, sliding into the seat next to her.
Aera tilted her head at him. "Hi?"
"Do you recognize me?" he asked.
She scratched her head, peering at him closely. "No... I don't."
He leaned forward, cupping his face in his hands. "I recognize you, though," he said, raising his eyebrows.
"Where did we meet?"
"We didn't," he said, leaning back and placing his feet on the desk. She wrinkled her nose in disgust. How rude. "I just saw you the other day. At the club. You were quite a fighter."
She laughed, awkwardly tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "Oh, that's where you saw me," she said quietly, unsure of what else to say.
When she looked around, she noticed girls glancing at her in annoyance. She glanced at the boy who'd spoken to her.
Where they mad because she was talking to him?
She sighed, crossing her arms and about to turn to face the front of the room, but then her eyes caught on someone standing in the doorway.
Aera gasped, recognizing him. He was glaring at her... or was he glaring at the boy next to her?
The boy at the doorway took stepped in, and everything went deathly silent. The boy next to her took one look at the other, and closed his eyes, leaning back in his chair.
She watched as the boy kept walking.
Until he was standing right in front of her desk.
"Long time no see," he said, his gaze full of mischief.
Immediate chatter broke out around them. Aera glared at the boy in front of her. She'd wanted a quiet last year. Quiet.
"I don't think we were properly introduced last time," the boy whispered, bending down to meet her at eye level. "I'm Heeseung."
She didn't say anything.
Heeseung sat down next to her. "Aren't you going to introduce yourself?"
"I wasn't planning to."
The boy on her other side chuckled, and Heeseung glared at him.
"Can't you sit somewhere else?" Heeseung asked, sighing as he looked at the other boy.
"I was here first."
"I don't want you next to my girl."
Aera's head snapped up, and she looked at Heeseung in horror. "What? Excuse me?"
He grinned at her, looking awfully proud of himself. "Aw. Did I make you flustered?"
"No, disgusted," she said, glaring at him. "I'm not your girl. I don't even know you."
Heeseung shrugged. "So? We can get to know each other as we date, huh? How about it?"
"How about no," she said firmly, facing forward again, and this time putting in her headphones and closing her eyes, so she wouldn't have to listen to his ridiculousness.
