Ren and I arrive at the lab where he creates new drugs. We walk into the building and see a door that says 'employees only, permission needed to enter.'

"Wait here." Ren says and walks inside. I wait for him and after about 2 minutes he walks back out holding something white and glasses.

"Here, safety first." he says. I figure out the white thing is a lab coat and I put it on.

"Ooh I feel like a scientist." I say and he puts the safety glasses on me.

"You look like one." he says slightly chuckling at the end.

"Why do we need to wear glasses? Your making drugs, not doing chemistry." I say and he shakes his head.

"No it is like chemistry, you mix chemicals and substances together and get reactions from it. After it's in your body another reaction happens and that can either be good or bad." he says, it makes sense.

We walk inside and I stay as close to Ren as possible, to make sure I don't get in the way.

"You know you're lucky." he says, I nod my head. Not just any people can get into a lab full of professional scientists, this will probably be the best time ever.

We walk up to a table where two men are on their laptops.

"They're researching some materials needed to make a new drug." he says and I nod. The two men are typing so fast, and they're not even looking up from the computers.

Afterwards we go to a door that says 'Authorised Personal Only'

"I'll be good." I say and he smiles at me. Next to the door there's a box of latex gloves, I put on a pair and so does he.

"Keep your glasses on." He says and I nod my head. He pushes open the door and we walk in. There, inside are tables upon tables. People are sitting seperatly, together, taking notes and all that stuff. They have chemicals, natural ingredients that I think they use for creating the drugs.

"This is so cool..." I say, my breath taken away. I've always wanted to go into a science lab and now I finally have. We walk until we arrive at the and we see a guy who keeps shaking his head and sighing.

"What happened?" Ren asks,

"Oh Shibasaki, this formula doesn't add up." He hands Ren a clipboard, I stand on my toes to see what it says. Wait a second...

"The formula doesn't make sense because you calculated it wrong." I say and they both look at me with shock. "Here." I take the clipboard from Ren and put it on the table, I take a pencil and start writing and editing his diagrams.

"You see substance A is supposed to be mixed with substance E first, then put together with everythig else. That all together, following this algorithm will give you X, the answer your looking for." I say and put the pencil down. The man grabs the clipboard and reads over my edits and notes.

"Sorry about her..." Ren says trying to pull me out of the room but the man stands up.

"No Shibasaki... She was right." He says and Rens eyes widen with shock. The man quickly moves over to another table with new, freshly laid out substances. Ren follows with me tagging along. By this time the entire lab is staring at us.

"If we use her algorithm..." He says, using the steps I wrote on the clipboard. He mixes everything together and it fizzes up a little, like baking soda mixed with vinager but soon turns a bright blue colour.

"It worked..." The man says holding up the beaker with the blue liquid in it and yells,

"It worked!" The whole lab goes into cheers.

"Alayana, you just figured out the formula for a slight cancer cure..." Ren says and my eyes widen, holy crab sticks.

"How old are you?" The man asks me and I look down,

"Sorry, Im only 12." I say and I look ashamed, oh no you shouldn't have done that. I slowly look up to see if I'm about to get kicked out but I just see the man and Ren smiling.

"Thats amazing... a 12 year old was able to figure such a complicated recipe and put it together so easily that anyone can practically do it." The man says and Ren ruffles my hair.

"You're amazing." He smiles, I smile back. So a cure for Cancer... wait a minute, cancer!?

"Did you say that I found a small cure for cancer?" I ask them and they nod their heads.

"Yes, it's not a medication that can completely stop it but can slow it down, just enough for the patient to heal." I say and nod my head, thats amazing.

"Alayana? how did you figure out how to put that algorithm together? Even though you didnt know what the medication did?" Ren asks me and I shrug.

"Its simple chemistry, it's hard to explain. When I was 8, I would normally have science with the 13 year olds becuase I was apparently smart enough to do their kind of work and exprimants." I finsish and they both look dumbfounded.

"Well that wasnt 13 year old science, that was something from a pro." The man says swirling the blue liquid around in the flask.

"No really I didn't do anything but a few edits, you can get the credit." I say gesturing to the man, his eyes widen.

"Oh no I cant do that, your the one who created it-"

"All I did was write down some edits, you listed all the substances, what they're used for and how to make the medication. You simply had it in the wrong order thats all." I say and shrug once again, I feel Ren rest a hand on my shoulder and I look up at him.

"Are you sure?" he asks me and I nod my head.

"Im only 12, I dont want start living my life as a celebrity this early. They dont get any privacy." I say and thay both look confused. What?

"You sound extremely mature for your age, you know?" Ren says ruffling my hair once again.

"Okay then, but don't bame me if things get good kid." the man says, winks at me and walks off.

"Lets go." Ren says and takes my hand gently, not my wrist.

"Uhm Ren...?" I say while we're walking, he doesn't reply and keeps walking. Sigh, I'll just go along with it. We keep walking and we get to a desk compared to the others, is kinda far away.

"This is my desk, you can sit here until I finish work." Ren says, woah. There are notes and paper scattered everywhere, not to mention the drawings of different flowers and herbs.

"Uh Ren, why is your desk like this?" I say and he sits down and looks at me.

"I don't have much time, so I can't clean up." He says, don't have much time for what? I'm about to ask him but he starts work right away.

"I'll be done in 5 hours, for now you can do whatever you want." He says and I sigh, thinking of what to do while Ren works.

I lean back in the chair and close my eyes, imagining what life will turn out like. Before I know it, I've fallen asleep.

<Dream>

I open my eyes and see myself staring at a familiar, yet odd looking roof. I sit up and see I'm in a bed with purple sheets, hold on this this is really familliar...

"Ren?" I call out.

"Saeki? Yamato? Takao? Kuni? Yutaa?" I call out but still no responce. I jump out of the bed and walk out of the door and go down a hallway, there is a room door open at the end. I go through the door and all the colour drains from my face.

My family is sitting in the living room, my old living room. I finally realise where I am, in my old house, the house that I lived in before I ran away. My mom, dad and my older brother is sitting on the couch.

"What are you doing up all ready Alice?" My mom says. Alice... I never wanted to hear that name again.

"Mother I'm not Alice... my name is Alayana." I say and start feeling the tears wanting to come out from my eyes.

"Listen you need to stop calling yourself that, it's pathetic." My brother, Takumi says to me.

"Why are you always so mean to me, Tak?" I ask my brother and he stands up from his seat.

"Because your my little sis, you have to put up with it." He says, tone in his voice.

"No I don't! Your not the boss of me!" I raise my voice and my dad stands up.

"Dont speak like that to your brother!" he says and comes up to me. He raises a hand and I close my teary eyes, waiting for impact.

...but it never happened.

<End Of Dream>

"Alayana wake up!" I open my tear filled eyes to the sound of Rens voice.

"Ren...?" I say and he nods his head, instantly knowing it's reality I throw myself into him and start crying.

"H-he was going to, to h-hit me and... and he called me Alice..." I cry quietly into his chest and he silently strokes my hair to comfort me.

"Shh its okay, c'mon. Time to go home." He says and I look around realising that the lab is empty.

"Oh okay, sorry about that." I say and wipe my face, he shakes his head as if to say 'its okay.'

Ren locks up the building and we both leave to go home.
