Chapter 8

The sun had disappeared from the city of Cheswick. Grey gloomy clouds filled the sky and cried on the city. The drops of rain touched every spot in the city and people were running around in the streets trying to get out of the rain. There was only one person that wasn't running to get out of the rain. Malcolm set his new potted plants out in the rain so they could be watered.

He enjoyed the rain. It calmed him and he could water his plants without having to do any work. Malcolm smiled at the pouring rain and walked back into his shop. He didn't get many customers because of the rain but he didn't mind. He wanted it to be quiet and peaceful so he could enact his plan.

You were leaving your office. Your work had been finished and you were allowed to go home for the day. When you reached the front doors of the building you searched through your purse for your umbrella but it wasn't there.

' Did I really not bring my umbrella? I don't want to walk in the rain but it looks like I'll have to. '

You closed your purse and started walking towards the front entrance to leave. You looked out at the pouring rain. Regret filled you, for not bringing your umbrella. You grabbed the handle and was about to leap into the rain but a hand pulled you back into the dry building.

" Are you really going to go out in that weather? "

You looked at who pulled you back into the building. You recognized their black hair and blue eyes. Instead of wearing bartender clothes, he was dressed in black jeans with a white t-shirt and a black jacket. He let go of you and you faced him. His smile brightened a bit when you looked at him.

" Scotty what are you doing here? "

" I had some business to take care of. What are you doing here? "

   " I work here. "

" Really? Did you finish work early? Usually, work time ends around three not twelve-thirty. "

" Yeah, I finished early and my boss said I could go home. "

" Did you not bring an umbrella? It's pouring out there. "

   " I forgot it at home. "

" I'm finished here if you want me to drive you home. "

" When do you start working? "

" I don't start work at the bar until six or seven. I have plenty of time to take you home. "

   " Sure, I guess. "

" Alright let's go. My car is just parked on the curbside up there. "

We approached the doors and he opened his umbrella. He stood out in the rain and looked back at you. He tilted his head telling you to get under his umbrella. You quickly got under the umbrella and started walking to his car. His umbrella wasn't big but it certainly wasn't small.

Neither of you wanted to get closer to the other person because of personal space. Your shoulder was getting wet from poking out of the umbrella. You only focused on the street ahead of you as you walked not paying attention to his next action. A warm hand was placed on your shoulder and you were pulled further under the umbrella and closer to Scotty. His arm was around your shoulders and his hand held your wet shoulder.

" We're gonna have to get close to prevent the other from getting wet. Don't think anything of it. "

You looked up and noticed he had a hard look on his face. You continued to walk until you noticed the two of you were to the corner near the flower shop. You tapped his hand and he looked down at you. His blue eyes found your E/c eyes and you started to get lost in them. The cold and dreary weather was somehow able to highlight his eyes and they shone with brilliant blue color.

" Can we stop by that flower shop right there? I need to make an appointment for my sister. "

" Sure, we can get some food too. There's a place not that far from here we can go to. They have really good sandwiches. "

   " Okay thank you. "

He only nodded and when you were allowed to cross the road you started walking to the flower shop. You spotted a lot of plants sitting outside of the shop with the rain hitting the petals and grasses. When you got under the awning Scotty put his umbrella away. You walked inside and the smell of flowers hit you like a train. You saw Malcolm leaning on the counter by the register writing on a piece of paper.

   " Hey, Malcolm. "

His head lifted up from the counter and his eyes found your form quickly. A small smile appeared on his face but it faltered for a second when his eyes left yours and trailed to Scotty who was standing behind you, looking around the shop. He hid the paper he was writing on and left the counter. He walked to you and glanced at the man behind you every so often.

   " What can I do for you, Y/n? "

" I need to make an appointment for my sister. She wants to come in tomorrow and she didn't know if she needed an appointment. "

" Well, for a wedding I suggest she did. It usually takes a while for the bride to find flowers and most of the time they bring a lot of people to look around. "

" Alright, can I make an appointment for tomorrow? "

" Sure. I'll write your name down since I don't know hers. I'll close the shop early and when you guys come just walk in. I'll be around the shop somewhere. What time does she want to come in? "

   " Around two. "

" Alright. Is there anything else I can do for you? "

Scotty was looking around the shop at all the flowers. When he looked at the section of purple flowers he felt his heartbeat slow and sadness came to his eyes. Old memories came to him and he felt regret. He turned his focus back to you. Malcolm kept his focus on you but he was thinking ill of your friend.

' Who is this guy? Why is he here with my flower? ' He thought.

" Has anyone been sending you flowers lately? "

   " No, I didn't get anymore. Maybe they'll stop. "

" What's wrong with getting flowers? " Scotty asked.

" The person that sent me flowers wrote me a letter and the letter was very creepy. It was really forward and in the letter, it talked about how they were devoted to me. "

" Was it from your boyfriend? "

   " No, I don't even have a boyfriend and I don't know anyone that would e=send me flowers. "

" Hmm. If it happens again let me know. I don't want anything happening to you."

' I don't like this. He's getting to close to my flower. He's not her boyfriend. He's not her lover, I am! ' Malcolm shouted in his head.
