Chapter 52

You clutched the engagement ring in your hand. The ring still felt cold in your hand, and you were reminded of your experiences with Malcolm. It was horrendous and if you could you would restart to the moment Luz wanted to take you out to the bar. If she never would have brought you there then you would have never seen the flower shop. Of course, it wasn't her fault why any of that happened to you.

There was only one person to blame, and that person's name was Malcolm Becker. The florist at a cute flower shop, named Flower Corner, in the city of Cheswick. The psycho that invaded your life and had no plans of letting you go. The man that seemed so beautiful and innocent hid his secret of being a psychopath, without any intentions of letting the girl he loved go. This was the man that was to blame, the man that was once a florist is now a criminal at a psych ward, for his obsession with flowers and you.

You held the ring tighter in your hand and raised it above your head. You prepared your arm to use all of its strength. You tossed the ring off of the cliffside and you watched as it flew far from you and into the wild ocean waves. Hopefully for you to never see again. Sure, you could pawn it off, but you didn't want to leave any chance open to see the ring again.

At least this way you were guaranteed that you would never see the ring ever again. You planned to never return to the town of Seashon. There were horrible memories here and you never wanted to come back. Not even to visit Emily.

   " Y/n, are you ready? "

You turned around and faced Scotty. He was standing behind you in his usual style of clothing. A leather jacket and a white t-shirt with blue jeans and black boots. He had a neutral expression on his face but when you turned to him there was a tiny small that hung on his lips. You nodded your head and walked towards him.

He pushed himself off of his car and held his hand out to you. You put your hand in his and he opened his car door for you. You got in the seat and looked out of the window and towards the cliff where you threw the ring away. You could hear Scotty get in the car and start the engine. He started driving away from the cliff and from the city of Seashon.

You turned your head to Scotty and held your hand out to him. His smile widened and he took your hand in his. You smiled at the warmth you felt from his hand and squeezed your hold. It was a long drive back to the City of Cheswick. It took at least two days to get back to the outskirts of the city.

When you got to the outskirts you didn't get stuck in as much traffic as usual. The wait to get into the city decreased by at least an hour. When Scotty got into the city he stopped the car in front of the building you worked at. You got out of the car and Scotty took your hand in his when he got out. He started pulling you after him at a normal walking pace.

You looked around inside the building you used to work at. There was caution tape around the entrances and you could see red stains still on the fancy carpet. You focused your gaze back on the ground in front of you and kept walking. Remembering how you ran this way to get away from Malcolm with Scotty. Scotty stopped walking, causing you to bump into him.

When you looked up you saw that you were on a special street corner. This was your meeting place with Scotty. You smiled at the many memories of meeting here and grabbing lunch during your break. How he found you when you were allowed back into the city by Malcolm. Then you remembered that the flower shop was on the corner across from this one.

You looked at the flower shop as you walked by it. The sign on the door read 'closed' and the lights were off inside. There were boxes inside that had the polices label on them and inside of them were papers and other items. You could recognize a few items because they were yours that Malcolm had stolen long ago. The place did not look good.

Inside all of the flowers were dead and wilted. They leaned over their pots, colored black, wondering where their caretaker went. You remembered how pleasing the shop was when you first walked in. It was warm and comforting. It was like a place you found to be so nice and humble you wanted to keep going back to it.

The sun would always shine through the windows and brighten up the shop. The flowers would add color and enhance the beauty and innocence the shop possessed. Now, it was a place of death, leaving the corpses of the flowers behind. It was now abandoned by the caretaker for a prison jumpsuit. All the sun could do was shine into the window and highlight the dust floating around the millions of dead flowers.

   " Y/n, you're slowing down. "

   " Sorry. "

" Don't apologize. It's fine, but please let me know so I'm not dragging you. I'm pretty sure the other people walking on the street would look at me funny. "

You smiled at Scotty. Happy that he was with you and alive. You left the flower shop behind and continued to follow Scotty through the city. He guided you to a small restaurant that was on the street and you saw Luz and Carmen standing there waiting for you two.

   " Luz! "

   " Y/n! "

Luz and you ran towards each other and hugged when you met. You hugged her tight and was ready to squeeze the soul out of her body. Carmen joined in on the hug and you smiled at her. You all let go of each other and Luz wouldn't leave your side.

" Y/n, I'm so glad you're here. Most importantly you're alive and well. Is there...Is there anything I can do to help you transition back into something normal? "

" Actually, yes. I heard that you quit your job at the office? "

" I did. The boss told me about your call two days ago about quitting and I knew I couldn't stay there without you there. I made the decision to go into real estate. "

" Well, you can help me then. Can you and Carmen please pack everything in my house, excluding the furniture, and moving it to Malcolm's suite? Then, I'll be your first customer to have you sell my house. "

   " Really? "

" Yeah, I can't go back to that house. There are too many memories there and I don't want to go back to them. "

" Sure! I'll do it! Thank you for helping me start off my new career. "

" What are you planning to do Carmen? "

" I'm going into business with her. We'll be a couple duo in the estate world and we will take over! But, I think what the real question here is...what are you going to do? I never would have thought you would quite at that office, Luz mentioned how you liked it. "

" I did like it, but I want to take some time away from working and focus on my life. Then, I'll get back to work somewhere. Maybe I'll try and be a chief at a restaurant around. I'm good at cooking you know. "

" That you are. Are you guys ready to go inside and grab a table? I made reservations. "

" You guys go on ahead. I want to stay outside for a minute, alone. I'll meet you guys inside at the table. "

" Okay, we'll see you inside. " Luz said waving.

" Alright, but don't stay outside for too long. It's windy and it could pick up soon. " Scotty told you ruffling your hair.

" See you, inside. " Carmen said smiling.

Once everyone was inside and getting seated you turned towards the sun. The sun's light was warm on your skin. You enjoyed just standing in the middle of the street and letting the wind blow your hair. It was lunchtime and no one was really on the street. It was perfect to just take a breath and look at the sky.

You felt something hit your foot and you looked down to the ground. You saw a fresh red rose on the ground. You picked it up and held it between your fingers. The thorns were still on the stem but they didn't hurt you. Memories of Malcolm's many rose deliveries flashed into your mind.

He would sneak a vase of flowers into your workplace, home, and where ever he could place them. Most of the time they were red roses that represented love or the phrase, 'I love you'. You examined the rose a bit more before looking around the street. You knew that someone just bought this because the rose was still alive and fresh. You didn't notice anyone around that was carrying a bouquet or any flowers at all.

You took another glance at the flower in your hand. It was a perfect red rose. You felt the wind pick up around you as it brushed through your hair and ran through your H/c strands. You held your hand out with the red rose. You opened your palm and the rose flew off of your palm and was being carried by the wind.

You watched as the rose flew up into the air, flying far from you. The rose flew towards the sunlight as the wind carried it in its whisper. You didn't smile or wave goodbye to the rose. Your face remained neutral as you watched the flower fly away, maybe to be caught by someone. Not by you.

   " Goodbye. "

With your sentence flying in the air, you turned towards the restaurant and walked inside. Shutting the door behind you and to the world, you were leaving behind. A world made up of flowers and obsessive love. A world where you weren't Y/n, anymore, but you were his flower.

You were no longer in Malcolm Becker's grasp and you would never hear his nickname for you again. A name he could only give you because he was a florist. A name for something so delicate that it grew thorns to protect itself from others. A name that was obsessive and full of lust. A name called,

'My flower'
