3| two stones for one bird
Elizabeth's POV
I can't see her face. Once she hears the loud collision of the food tray with the porcelain floor, she stuffed her face under the pillow. I dread to believe my own eyes. Not wanting to be blamed alone, Kevin grabs her up, revealing her guilty face. I am even more bewildered at the sight of the two of them. Seconds feel like years, and relationships feel like a void.
I turn to leave, not wanting them to witness my most vulnerable moment.
"Wait, I can explain-," Kevin tries to speak, but words melt on his lips.
"Elizabeth, please listen," Laura pleads.
I freeze midway. I want to scream, shout, and screech my lungs out. Yet I remain speechless. I am just suppressing my rage. To illustrate, I don't understand what they are trying to do. Isn't it crystal clear? Are they trying to get my claws out?
Kevin puts on his shirt quickly and follows me. I'm not ready for reasonings, and I'm not really into drama.
He attempts to put his hand on my shoulder, but I shudder against it. I can't take his touch.
"Don't touch me!" These were the first sensible words I can form right now.
"I won't," he retreats, "it's not what you think," this was a feeble trial from his side. Fooling me isn't an option, and lying to me will be a second crime.
"What is this?" I interrogate him, "that is the reason why you don't want me to move in?"
"Elizabeth, El. Calm down. You're running up to conclusions," Laura finally speaks.
"I don't want to hear anything from you, especially you," tears start to form on my cheeks, and I can do nothing to stop them. "This is undoubtedly worth the day-off."
"El, I didn't intend to fool you. I didn't want to make you look like an idiot-," she explains.
"Really! Do you intend the irony? You've done everything you didn't intend to do," I cover my face with both hands. "why did you leave the 7 billion people on Earth and go after my boyfriend?"
"I thought I loved you," he interferes, not making the situation better, "until I met Laura," he continues his confessions, "I was planning to tell you."
I can do nothing but blink, my mind is blank, and my body is numb. My stupid mind diverts to another thought, how long did this last? My life was so good before. Was I living in a fool's paradise?
"You thought you loved me?" I say my voice barely heard, and it is above a whisper.
"I like you, Elizabeth. I like you as a friend," he admits, did he just friendzone me?
Remembering the purpose of why I am here in the first place, I have to admit, "I am a fool," my voice cracks, and I head to the living room. I rest on the sofa where we used to binge-watch movies, and my eyes lie on the picture frame on the table. Getting up, I smash it to pieces, and for a few seconds, I can feel satisfaction.
"El, please, calm down," Laura reaches for me, but I let go of her, "this is not good for you."
"This is good for you," I correct her, grabbing my bag from the couch.
Heading to the door, I say, "I don't want to hear anything from both of you," I warn, "and before I forget," I head back rapidly to the room.
Stopping midway, I start to laugh like a maniac to their expressions. Tears accompany laughter trailing down my cheeks. My reaction made them even more confused.
I throw Laura's dress and precious earrings from the window, and I pick up the breakfast from the floor because they don't even deserve it. Further, I'm back at the door, leaving them tongue-tied.
"Another thing," I remember, fetching my bag for something. "Take your keys," I aim to throw the keychain at his face, but he nearly misses it. I didn't quietly lose because it hit the antique glass clock his grandparents bought from Rome.

I rest my face of the steering wheel and commence to cry.
"Life is literally giving me lemons," I sob.
