I walk out the car and into my house getting prepared to die. " I was calling your phone and you didn't pick up, why didn't you tell me you were going to Mireal's " mum said calmly hugging me. That wasn't the reaction I was expecting but hey am not complaining.

Mireal just saved my ass and I am grateful but then, she owes me for that time she snuck out the entire night to make out with a college guy.

If you ask me the guy wasn't worth it.

" I forgot my phone mum " I say in a light voice making her sigh " how many times would I have to remind you to always have your phone with you ".

" how did the study go anyway " she asks locking the door and moving into the main sitting room.

Wait what?

" study? " I say confused " yeah you know with Mireal " she adds raising a brow suspicion creeping in.

" Oh yeah it was okay I wouldn't say we studied much anyway I just helped her with some problems " I tell her while trying to hide the fact that I have no shoes on.

That was a nice save

" oh dear I almost forgot you have a visitor " she says smiling at me. A visitor?  I have never had a visitor in all my sixteen years which explains my surprise. I hurriedly move into the main sitting room bumping into a vase on my way and earning a look from my mum. She is such a clean freak.

I stop dead in my tracks when I see my visitor. He gives me a shy smile and I can feel the butterflies in my stomach going bonkers.

Chase Dermak

Chase Dermak. I had a freaking crush on the guy since freshman year. He was one of the populars in school but he was different from the rest. Chase had the looks of god which of course had girls swooning and that's what makes him so popular also the fact that he's the principal's son.

He's your average shy don't talk much kinda guy, football player and a smile to die for.

I once heard a girl peed in her pants when he smiled at her - yeah that's how cute he is.

But I strongly doubt it ever happened.

Principal Dermak had called me to his office on one of my gloomy Mondays and that's how I got to meet chase.

" miss Ryder please have your sit " Principal Dermak said pointing to a chair. I was really confused. I haven't done anything wrong and yet I feel so sick like I am getting expelled. I wasn't the only one in the office though a guy was sat comfortably a shy smile plastered to his face. I sat down and  decided to listen.
He cleared his throat " am sure you know my son chase"  and I look at the boy sat beside me finally recognizing him. He was one of the populars. " yes I do". He turned to his son " do you know her?" chase shook his head making me scoff. How embarrassing! he could have at least said yes. " this is Miranda...your tutor for this semester"  he said and my eyes grow wide. " did you just say tutor?"  I stutter biting my tongue in the process. " yes Miranda, he is dropping in physics and I need you to tutor him" he says. Chase doesn't say anything. I didn't expect him to be cool with this decision because I wasn't. " what? No I cant..you can ask jade or Rosie or even Heaven ..am not even as good as they are..why not pick them instead".
" Miranda they are already occupied with other failing students and your teachers say you are reliable so am going for you " he has a tone of finality so I don't say anything anymore." you can both leave if your done " he adds after some minutes.
I get up feeling very upset I didn't want to tutor him. What would people say when they find out. I didn't want the attention but too bad am getting it on a platter of gold. I am walking back to class when chase stops me." hey Miranda? " I turn to look at him " thanks for helping me..i need to pass or I wont get my football scholarship ". I haven't even accepted to helping him and he's thanking me. I mutter a whatever under my breath and proceed to class.

I did help him out until he was balanced and as I did so, I developed a crush on him. I could have sworn it was very obvious but even if it was he didn't give any sign that he noticed. He had a girlfriend and a very pretty one at that.

I could say we were friends even after the tutorial but not just in school though we exchange greetings regularly. His girlfriend was cool and we would chat for hours at his house. She didn't go to our school but she trusted I wouldn't be the one to steal her boyfriend.

"Hey " he says getting up." your mum said it would be okay to wait for you ".

" yeah its cool " I smile at his perfect features " lets go to my room ". I tell my mum and she nods " keep the door open honey ".

As if I would attempt to shag him with her in the house.

" your lucky " I tell him as we get to my room " I don't get visitors much especially guys cos my mum would go bonkers ". He laughs a little " I think she's really nice though ".

" anyway what brings you to my house " I ask as he grabs a chair and sits. " actually, I was hoping if you could help me again am failing badly " he says not meeting my eyes.

" really? how come? " I am surprised cos he was doing well some weeks ago. " Stephanie and I broke up so I av been having a hard time studying " he says but doesn't look a bit depressed or affected.

" you don't look sad about it " I raise an eyebrow cos he wasn't a player and I knew he liked Steph a lot." lets just say it was for the best and I started liking someone else while dating her "he says blushing a little.

He liked someone else? I know I shouldn't be affected by that statement cos I have a boyfriend but I cant help it. I mean seriously I once had a crush on him . I shrug and push the feeling away " so when do you wanna start? ".

" Friday sounds good " I think am free on Friday so I tell him its okay. We chat for a while which is weird cos we only do that at his house. As we talked I kept comparing him to Liam and they had nothing in common while chase was shy and polite Liam was jovial and cocky. Screw me i like the bad boy better.

Chase was bout leaving when mum announced dinner was ready " manda tell your friend to stay for dinner we are having chilli con carne" mum tells me and I go on to tell her it wont be necessary.

" actually I would love to stay for dinner Mrs Ryder " chase says interrupting me and am sure my jaw is resting comfortably on the ground. Why would he wanna stay for dinner when am pretty sure he has butlers ready to serve him at home.

Okay maybe am exaggerating..but still

We sit and start to eat while my mum engaged him in a discussion. My dad wasn't coming home tonight due to his work so this was less embarrassing. He thanked my mum and left promising to see me at school tomorrow.

I am doing the dishes when mum enters and just watches me. " just so you know I totally approve of chase but you ll have to wait till your actually seventeen". Sweet Jesus parents can really jump into conclusions.

" mum seriously its not like that with chase the only reason we got to know each other was because he needed help and the principal picked me to tutor him " I groan wiping my hand on a dish cloth and turning to face her.

" yeah sure honey but your smile doesn't say that. you have a thing for him don't you " she says a smile creeping up her pink lips.

Wait what?

" used to mum not until.." I keep quiet knowing what I was bout to say next. Mum's look changes from teasing to questioning  "not until? ".

Okay am in trouble if I don't come up with something reasonable cos there's no way she can know am dating Liam.

" until I realised I cant handle all the shit that comes with it " I say quickly. " language young lady and you need to understand no one was born with the ability to handle relationship issues you just go with it and if you truly love that person you ll wanna make it work " mum says still smiling.

" okay mum I get it but I used to like him and it was just a little crush so you see there that's past tense. Am not into him anymore " I say already making my way out of the kitchen. My mum is laughing now " goodnight honey " she calls as I walk up the stairs. I mutter a reply and get into my room quickly taking a shower and changing into my sleep clothes. Already on my bed I think back to what my mum said. I had never really considered dating chase, he was just a crush that I had obviously gotten over since he had a girlfriend and I had to deal with that fact for three years.

Right now I love Liam and that's all that matters.

" could you at least help me talk to her? " Jake says already getting on my nerves. I had all my Tuesday classes with this dude who obviously doesn't know the meaning of personal space. " no " I reply slamming my locker " she doesn't wanna see you...ever ".

" what the fuck?! damn that bitch Sandra " he's punching the locker beside mine which happens to be Mireal's." am  sorry but did that occur to you while you were shagging her? " I raise an eyebrow in amusement. He doesn't say anything and moodily walks away from my locker.

Such a jakeass

I have a free period and since Mireal was in detention for emptying her whole beaker of sodium hydroxide and iron two tetraoxosulphate six on Jake during chemistry, I decided to go to the library.

I bring out my lunch and begin to eat while scrolling through my wattpad library on my phone. Lisa is obsessed with this app so she forcefully downloaded it and filled it up with books she said have to be read.

" Hey Miranda " I look up from my phone and see a nervous Heaven taking a sit opposite me. I hadn't talked to her since I found out bout Liam's lies and the fact that she lied to me to help him.

I mean seriously how fucked up is that.

I have a mind to ignore her but I decide against it  " what's up" I say instead. " I didn't know Liam already told you..am sorry for lying to you..i didn't mean it. He begged me to go along with it and stuff and I had to. He really likes you" she rambles on and I smile a little.

I couldn't stay angry with this bitch even if I tried.

" Heaven chill its okay I understand why you did it and I would have probably done the same thing if I were in your shoes " I tell her and she relaxes a little. " thanks " she says shaking her short blonde hair and I notice its shorter than usual.

" you owe me though " i offer her some of my lunch laughing and she takes it. Her phone buzzes and she rolls her eyes. Heaven is too nice to actually roll her eyes at anyone so am curious.

" who's that " I ask. " its Dave Liam's younger brother wants me to meet up with his group in his school " she replies slipping her phone back into her pocket.

" you guys are pretty close huh? " I say and she nods in agreement " went to elementary school together same homeroom all through ".

" kinda sounds like you guys are childhood sweethearts " I smile and she has a slight frown " no not like that he's just my friend ".

" come on you wanna tell me he doesn't have a thing for you? " I raise an eyebrow eagerly. " doesn't matter cos I don't " she deadpans.

She looks pretty serious which means am right and she knows that but doesn't return the feeling. Poor guy  does Liam know bout this though?.

Am back to my phone actually interested in what am reading when I feel someone pull the chair beside me and sit.

Chase

I offer him a smile while scanning the library hoping no one is watching. Everywhere seems clear.

" can I talk to you for a sec " he says and I nod. He then looks at Heaven who mutters a goodbye to me and took off as fast as her little legs could manage.

Honestly I dunno why people fear him sometimes. Just because he moves with the others doesn't mean he's like them.

Ugh! am getting all defensive on his ass

" whats up " I say looking at his nervous features. He still looks totally drool worthy. He sighs " I have a make up test tomorrow and I was wondering if you could come over today instead ".

I had plans on talking to Liam over the phone after school and that could take hours.

Do not bother asking what we talk about cos its totally useless

I go to tell him I cant make it when he gives me a sad look. God seriously I could be such a walk over sometimes. " okay sure"  I say instead. I mean Liam would definitely understand that I gave up our time to help a guy I USED to have a crush on.

He smiles at me and I am tempted to hug him but I restrain myself. I don't wanna scare him off with my weirdness although he's probably used to it by now.

" so I ll see you by six? " he says and I nod getting up from my sit and dropping my phone in my bag. " yeah " I reply and walk out of the library.

I head to the girls bathroom quickly as I have the sudden urge to pee. The crowded hallway doesn't help my situation but I manage to get there before I disgrace myself by going in my pants.

I open the door to reveal Sandra and her two followers Rachel and Sam hovering over a sophomore student who looks frightened.

I don't wanna get into their business so I casually walk into one of the bathrooms and come out as quickly as I can. As I wash my hands in the sink I notice the girl wasn't there anymore and the three devils stared daggers at me.

" no one said you could come in " Rachel spat out a hand on her hip and the others have the same position.

"  I don't remember asking for permission " I snort and offer a fake smile. I was really in no mood for their little games.

" how does it feel having a boyfriend in another school " Sandra says smiling and I wonder where this is going. " a little lonely don't you think " she says to Sam who nods in agreement.

Bitchmode activated

" I don't see how that's your business " I raise an eyebrow in disgust. " oh Miranda we are just worried about you..you know as girls " I scoff at that I would rather eat a plate of dog food than believe any crap they say.

"  yeah sure but since your interested its not a bit lonely " I say looking straight at her. I wonder how exactly she knew that Liam and I were together. " you know I have lots of friends at Morrison High and they tell me Liam's just like Dylan " she says. Dylan happens to be the leader of all the jocks at school. He's an arrogant cocky player who would definitely win a Grammy for manslut of the year.

Liam is nothing like that.

Well I think so.

I don't reply cos I wasn't gonna let their stupid attempt at pissing me off actually get to me. " seems like that's a food for thought " Sam says regarding my silence and I roll my eyes.

"seems like the only things that comes out of your mouth these days are dicks " I smirk at her horrified expression and start to leave.

Ha! lets see how she handles that.

" Au-revoir bitch " Rachel says making me turn. I look her up and with a fake smile " am sorry I don't speak slut ".

With that I slam the door really hard.

Shit shit shit

I am stuck on the streets with the rain pouring heavily down on me. After school ended it just started raining all of a sudden and Mireal had plans with her sisters today hence my present situation.

A taxi drives by and I stop it skillfully thanking God for a miracle. If I stay in the rain for long I would definitely get sick. Minutes pass by and am already at chase's house. As I get out of the taxi the rain stops instantly and I feel the sun coming up.

Geeez even the weather hates me.

I walk up to his porch and knock twice waiting for a reply. The door opens revealing a shirtless chase smiling at me " am so sorry you had to come in the rain..why didn't you just call me?" he says as I pull my shivering body into his house trying but failing horribly not to stare at his body.

How they all look so damn good I ll never know. Someone like chase doesn't even go to the gym. And to think the great scientist say humans are the result of evolution. I wonder which linage Liam happens to be from.

If you ask me its sure to be a gorilla. Just saying.

Ha!  Am kidding

" I don't have your number " I tell him as he hands me two huge fluffy white towels. It was weirdly true that despite our three years of friendship I didn't have his number. " okay that has to be corrected " he says as he enters his kitchen getting me a cup of coffee and I shake my head in protest.

" hot coco please my parents don't like me taking coffee " I say between chattering teeth and he smiles knowingly. A minute later I have two hot things beside me. A cup of hot coco and a drool worthy guy.

Who wouldn't wanna be me right now?

Chase brings out his books on the kitchen counter and gives me some time to dry off. I start to drink from cup when he grabs one of my hands and starts blowing on it . This has to be the most compromising position I have ever been in but it feels good so am not complaining.

We review our homework for the day and quickly do a revision of our previous lessons. Chase is an average student and would keep doing well but he always gets distracted. After two hours of studying, laughing and continuous blushing - the blushing mainly coming from me we are done and am all set to go.

" don't tell me your going back home that wet " he gives me a questioning look and I laugh lightly " fine I ll wait till am completely dry ".

I flop down on his couch one towel tied up my hair and the other wrapped around me as he turns on the TV to an episode of game of thrones. I eye him suspiciously " what are you trynna do seduce me? " he laughs loudly " is it working? " I roll my eyes and don't say anything.

He sits beside me on the couch making sure to flop his legs on my lap. Ugh! so annoying. I glare at him but he gives me a cute smile that has my heart beating wildly. " Hey I gotta tell you something " he says after a while and my beating heart stops.

I am a bit socially awkward but all my girly hormones tell me he's bout to say he likes me or something plus that's how it happens in all those movies Mireal makes me watch.

I feel so excited but why??

" what? " I try to sound normal. " got some new movies I know you lld love to check out..wanna see? " he says and I am utterly disappointed.

I shouldn't be..i don't like him anymore

" sure I guess " I follow him up to his room pushing my feelings aside. He happens to know bout my love for movies so not long after am busy searching his laptop.

He was on his bed while I stood close to his reading desk. " Hey I cant find the first part of hard target" I tell him not looking up from the laptop. I hear him get up and come over but he doesn't say anything.

" I said– " I lift my head up to face him but I don't get to finish my sentences as his lips become attached to mine.

I blink in confusion and shock.

Once

Twice

Then slowly he pulls away and I do the most unimaginable thing ever to be recorded in history.

I sneeze.

Loudly. And in the most ungraceful way you can ever think of. I then run out of his room like the place is on fire and into the nearest bathroom locking it firmly before slumping against the door.

That didn't just happen.

I try to calm my nerves and process what just happened. Chase effing Dermak just kissed me and I humiliated myself by sneezing in his face.

The whole house is silent and am beginning to wonder if it was all a quick dream but the tingling I feel on my lips tell me otherwise.

I am affected by the kiss more than necessary which scares me a little. Maybe my mum was right and I still have feelings for him even after three years. Fifteen minutes have passed and I think its time to leave the bathroom.

Its not as if I can stay there all my life.

I contemplated jumping out the window in order to avoid the talk that was definitely bound to happen but then I decided against it. I am not sure if any guy would wanna date a girl with just a leg.

Opening the door quietly I make my way out of the bathroom into the living room theres no sign of Chase and am worried so I decide to look for him.

I find him in the kitchen by the sink continuously splashing water on his face. " you cant drown yourself that way no matter how hard you try" I tell him and I see a light smile creeping up his lips.

" am not trying to drown myself " he says not really meeting my eyes " and am sorry ".

" your sorry? " one minute he kissed me and now he's apologizing. " yeah well you running away from me says a lot " he says. I walk up to the sink and turn off the tap earning a blank look from him.

At least he didn't mention my little embarrassing moment.

" you need to explain why you did what you did "I say following him out of the kitchen. He stops and looks at me " isnt it obvious?..i like you..always have " the blush I had been trying to hide appears on my face. We just stand there and stare at each other none of us ready to say anything.

He looks unsure of what to do and I take a step closer to him am not sure why but I do. His tall figure stands above me as I stand on my toes and place a kiss on his lips. It was meant to be a quick peck but chase had other plans as his hands wrap my waist.

" Chase am home " was the next thing we heard as we quickly broke our little kiss. His mum then shows up in the doorway looking very amused at us." Miranda its nice to see you again after a long time. Please stay for dinner " her warming smile begs me.

" that's okay Mrs Dermak I was just leaving anyway " I say to his mum while handing the towels back to chase. Picking up my bag I give her a curt nod and exit the building.

I am sure happiness is written on my face as I walk down chase's street. I definitely still have feelings for chase and its not just a crush anymore. I just couldn't wait to get home to reminisce the day's events and probably talk to Liam.

Liam

I stop dead in my tracks as I remember something that would have been useful a while ago.

And then I get a reality check.

I just cheated on Liam.
