Chapter 9

"Minhyung-oppa! He's the douchebag I was talking about!" Haejin shouts.

No way. There's no way this is happening.

That was Jaemin?! That's why he looked so familiar! Oh my god, I have to apologize! I just fought with my bias unintentionally!

Haejin was silently freaking out. She's mentally planning a way to bury herself alive. I didn't know it was him! He looked like a middle-aged man with what he was wearing earlier.

She's embarrassed. She didn't mean to snap at Jaemin like that earlier.

Mark looked at her, "We'll talk later."

Jaemin looked at Mark and gave him a questioning look, "Mark-hyung, who is she?"

"Jaemin-ah, this is my sister, Haejin. She's gonna stay with you guys until everything's sorted out in her group." Mark explains.

'Oh, so she's a trainee,' Jaemin says in his mind.

"H-Hello! I'm Haejin," Haejin bows. Deep inside her, she wants to get out of here and get herself hit by a truck.

She's embarrassed. 'It was Jaemin! Oh God, it was Jaemin! I want to kill myself!'

"Hi, I'm Na Jaemin," he smiled.

They were awkward.

Unknown to them, five pairs of eyes were watching them intently.

Silence.

The other members went to the kitchen to prepare dinner since they couldn't leave Mark alone. They don't want the dorm on fire.

Jisung and Chenle went to their room. Well not really because they were really peeking at Jaemin and Haejin who were left in the living room.

"Hey, about the scene at the coffee shop earlier, sorry for being rude." Jaemin apologized. "I didn't know that you were carrying a lot of things."

Haejin looked at her. "Oh my god, he was the one who initiated a conversation!"

She smiled, "Oh, it's fine. I'm also sorry, I didn't mean to snap at you like that, Jaemin-ssi, I was just tired."

"It's fine, just be... comfortable around me," Jaemin smiled.

"Okay, Jaemin-oppa," Haejin answered.

The two laughed.

Maybe they are not awkward anymore.

That's what she thought.

Jeno and Renjun who were silently peeling potatoes were looking at them from afar.

Haechan was helping Mark with the fire. He really doesn't want the dorm on fire. Mark almost set the dorm on fire before, and same with Haechan, he won't deny that.

"So, uhm.. you're a trainee?" Jaemin asked.

Haejin looked at her and nodded, "Yeah, I was introduced in February last year."

"Oh, when I was out..."

"Yeah..."

Haejin wanted to ask about his condition. She really wants to. But maybe Jaemin will get uncomfortable? Haejin fishes her phone out of her pocket and pretended to text someone.

"What are you doing?" Jaemin asked.

Haejin didn't look at her, but she answered, "I'm texting Yui, she's a co-member of my group."

"Your group is formed already?"

"Yep, it's not yet announced, though."

"Wait, you're texting Yui, right?" Jaemin laughed.

Mark looked at his sister who looked tense. He mentally laughs. He knew that this would happen.

"Yeah, I am. Why?" Haejin asked, her eyes not leaving her phone's screen.

"Your phone's upside-down, Haejin-ah." He laughed.

"It's on auto-rotate."

"Really? iPhones don't auto-rotate upside-down though."

'Holy crap what the hell get me out of here.'

Haejin's eyes traveled and saw Mark who was silently laughing.

'Oppa save me please.' she gave Mark a pleading look.

"Guys, let's eat now!!"

"Oh my god, I want to jump out of the window and get hit by a truck," Haejin stormed into her and Mark's shared room. She removed her slippers and jumped to her bed. 

She grabbed her pillow and screamed, "Lee Haejin, you're such an idiot!"

Mark laughed, "That's what you get for being so sassy! You should have seen the look on your face earlier!" He laughed. "Man, I should have taken a photo."

"Shut up! You sided with me when I ranted about the guy! You even called him a fool," She pouted. "But oh my god, I embarrassed myself in front of him. I didn't know that my phone was upside down..."

She stood up and jumped up and down.

"Are you fangirling right now?" Mark asked.

"No, I'm not! Na Jaemin, my bias, my crush, saw the worst side of me!" She screamed.

"Yah! Keep it down! It's nighttime!" Mark warned.

Haejin pouted, "I'm sorry... I'm just stressed and frustrated.. and embarrassed..."

She rubbed her temples and sighed, "First, we fought at a coffee shop. Second, I was pretending to text someone, but my phone was upside-down..." She groaned. "First impressions... stupid, Haejin. Stupid."

Mark laughed, "You know, first impressions last."

"MARK!"

Meanwhile, the other dream members are inside Jaemin's room, which is beside Mark and Haejin's room.

"What was that?" He asked when he heard a loud thud next door.

"Are the two fighting again?" Jeno asked and the others shrugged.

"What? Are they always fighting?" Jaemin asked.

"No, not really." Haechan answered.

Mark entered Jaemin's room while laughing.

"You really got a few screw loose, ey Mark-hyung?" Renjun asked.

"I'm sorry. I just teased my sister and now she's mad at me. Oh my god, i can't stop laughing," Mark said while laughing.

The other members looked at each other, then they looked at Mark who was still laughing.

Jaemin secretly texted the guys, 'I think we really need to call a doctor.'

Haechan replied, 'I'm getting sick of him, even at 127's dorm, seriously.'

Jaemin giggled.

Mark finally stopped laughing, "Anyways, I'm just here to tell Jaemin that welcome back! We missed you!"

"Aweee I missed you guys too!" Jaemin hugs them.

"YO DREAM!"

"JJEOREO, JUJA, FIGHTING!" Let's be dope, fighting!

Finally, they said their chant as 7 members.

"I'll go back to our room now, good night guys," Mark said.

"Good night, Mark-hyung!"

The moment Mark closed the door, the members looked at each other awkwardly.

"Welcome back, Jaemin-hyung!" Jisung said, hugging Jaemin.

"Jaemin-hyung, I missed you!!" Chenle hugged Jaemin.

"Yah, Chenle go away!" Jisung said.

"No, youㅡ"

"Okay you guys stop, I missed you both!" Jaemin said, hugging Chenle and Jisung.

"Wah, Jisung, you're taller than me now!" Jaemin laughed.

"Well, I'm not a baby anymore, hyung." Jisung said.

"You still are a baby for us, though. You're NCT's baby."

"Very true," Jeno and Renjun said in unison.

"So, what happened at the coffee shop?" Haechan asked.

The other members stiffened. He really wants to prove his theory, huh?

"We kinda fought over a table," Jaemin said.

Jisung's eyes narrowed, "Why would you bicker with a girl? And why are you stuttering?"

Jaemin stiffened.

"What? I am not!"

The members laughed.

"So, what do you think about Haejin?" Jeno asked.

"Haejin... so far, she's nice but sassy. She snapped at me earlier. My fault, though," Jaemin suddenly thought of what happened earlier.

"Why? Why was it your fault?" Renjun asked.

"Well, I didn't know that she was carrying a lot of stuff, that's why I fought for the table. Plus, there were a lot of people at the coffee shop that time, I was so scared that I'll get recognized..." Jaemin explained.

"What did she do then?" Renjun asked.

"Aside from bickering with me? She left." Jaemin sighed.

"Oh, aside from nice and sassy, what can you say about Haejin, Jaemin-hyung?" Jisung asked.

"Honestly, I find her cute..."

"Is that for real?!"

"Wait, one point!"

"I told you guys!"

Jaemin stared at the members who were cheering happily.

"What the hell are guys up to?" Jaemin asked, an eyebrow raised.

"Wait, do you guys actually think that I like her?!" Jaemin exclaimed.

The members laughed, "It's you who thought of that, Jaemin-ah."
