Chapter 26

"Haejin-unnie, I have to go now! My brother is calling me. Merry Christmas!" Yui waved at the camera.

"Oh it's okay, I understand! Merry Christmas, Yui!" She smiled.

The video call ended. Yui is in Japan, her hometown, to celebrate Christmas and New Year. The time is the same in Korea and Japan.

It's currently 7:43 am in Canada. 11:43 in Japan and Korea.

The second the call ended, another person called her. It was Jisung.

"Jisung-ah!" She called him.

Although Jisung's video was laggy and blurry, she could still clearly hear him.

"Haejin-ah, can you hear me clearly?" Jisung asked.

"Yes, I can hear you perfectly!" She answered, a bit loud, enough for Jisung to hear.

"What about my video?"

"It's a bit laggy but I can see you clearly now." Haejin said.

Haejin could hear noises from Jisung's place.

"Where are you, Jisung?" She asked.

But before Jisung could answer, someone shouted, "HAEJIN-AH!!!"

She laughed. She knows that voice really well. "Hi, Chenle!" She waved.

"Wait, you didn't go home? Where are you anyways?" Haejin asked.

Jisung gave his phone to Chenle, so that he could talk to Haejin properly.

"We all didn't, except for Mark-hyung. We're at SM right now, it's where we'll celebrate." Chenle answered.

"Really? What about your parents then?" Haejin asked.

"They know about it. That's why we're here." Chenle laughed.

"Are all of you there?" Haejin asked.

Someone suddenly grabbed Jisung's phone from Chenle's hand.

"Hi Haejin-ah!!"

Her heartbeat sped up. He was smiling. She was smiling.

But she didn't know how to respond to a single 'Hi'.

"H-Hello, Jaemin-oppa..." She waved.

Act cool, Haejin. Act cool.

"Woah, finally. Jaemin finally had the guts to talk to her." Haejin heard Jeno say.

"Is that really Jaemin? Finally talking to Haejin? Wow, a Christmas miracle." Lucas said.

"Indeed, Jaemin-hyung!!" Jisung said.

"Yes! Go get her Jaemin!" Renjun said.

"Na Jaemin, everyone." Jungwoo laughed.

Jaemin sat down, "Shut up." He said.

He faced the camera and smiled, "Anyways, hello.."

"H-Hi..."

Silence.

They don't even look at each other. Well, minus for Jaemin who keeps on looking at the screen from time to time.

"So, are you guys literally just gonna say 'Hi'?" Jisung asked.

"Jisung-ah!!" Haechan and Taeyong said in unison.

"Jisung-ah, why do you keep on ruining every moment?" Johnny asked.

"Well I've got nothing to say, Jisung-ah." Haejin chuckled.

Silence.

"So.. uhm, how are you?" Jaemin asked.

Haejin noticed that it was silent in Jaemin's place.

She smiled, "I'm fine, Jaemin-oppa... how about you?"

"I'm also fine." He smiled back.

"What are you guys doing now?" She asked.

"Us? Hm... some of them are lying down, some of them are sleeping. Jaehyun-hyung and Taeyong-hyung just went out to buy some food." He said.

She nodded, "Mhm.. I see..."

Jaemin looked at his phone. He suddenly smiled.

Haejin felt something pinch her heart. Maybe the fact that someone texted him and make him smile like that?

His smile was the one that always makes her heart weak.

Okay, maybe it was just his mom?

Jaemin looked at the camera once again. He smiled at Haejin.

Haejin noticed that it suddenly became noisy at Jaemin's place.

"Merry Christmas, Haejin-ah." He smiled.

Haejin looked at the clock near her bed. 8 am. It's already 12 am in Korea.

"The reason why I looked at my phone is because my alarm vibrated. Merry Christmas." He smiled sheepishly.

"Merry Christmas, Jaemin-oppa. Why do you have to explain? It's not like I asked..." She said, chuckling.

"I also don't know.." He rubbed his chin. "But it felt like I had to tell you." He continued.

"WAAAAAAAKEEEE UUUUP!!!" Haejin heard Chenle and Renjun screamed st the background, probably trying to wake the sleeping members up.

"Bye now, Haejin-ah. Taeyong-hyung and Jaehyun-hyung are already here. We'll eat. Merry Christmas. Eat well, okay? Take care!" He smiled.

"Bye Jaemin-oppa. Merry Christmas too! Take care!" She waved.

And the line was cut.

She found herself screaming.

She heard a knock on the door, "Sweetie, you okay?" Her mom asked.

"Yes, I'm fine!" She answered.

Meanwhile at NCT's practice room...

Once the call ended, Jaemin threw Jisung's phone at Jeno. Luckily, he catched it.

"Hyung, why my phone?" Jisung asked irritatedly.

Jaemin faced Jeno, "I am NOT playing truth or dare with you ever again! Oh god that was so embarrassing! I looked like a creep!" He said, sitting down, slapping his face in embarrassment.

Jeno laughed, "Are you even sure that you looked like a creep in front of her?"

Jaemin looked at him, "What do you mean?"

Jeno shook his head, "Nothing..."

"What was the shout all about?" Mark asked, entering Haejin's room.

"None of your business~" She chimed.

Mark raised a brow, "Why? Is this about you and Jaemin?"

"Yah, I told you. Nothing's happening between us!" Haejin said.

Mark laughed, "Fine... fine... if you say so, Haejin-ah.. Keep convincing yourself. You can lie to me but you can't lie to yourself.."

"Oppa, I am not lying." She said.

"Fine, fine... Come downstairs, we'll eat." Mark said.

Haejin nodded.
