My Final Request (A NaLu One Shot)
A boy stood in the middle of a once beautiful building. It was now in flames and broken.
He looked down and saw something horrible. People were lying on the floor. They weren't sleeping. They were dead.
The boy walked into the destroyed building, careful to avoid the debris and bodies on the ground. He cringed as he recognized several of them.
A redheaded female lay on the ground with samurai swords clutched in both hands as she covered the two other females on the ground. Two small bluenettes lay under the redhead and you could tell that she died protecting them from danger.
Propped up against a rock was another bluenette with torn clothing. She was side by side a raven-haired boy. They held hands, as if in their final moments wanting to forever be together.
A muscular man with spiky white hair was hugging two other females with white hair, shielding them from the dangers beyond. His back was bloody and burnt as if a grenade was thrown.
A woman with dark brown hair and a man with orange hair huddled close to each other and were covered with the older man's cape. They had smiles on their dead bodies.
A small old man lay on the ground, his hands bloody. He also had a smile on his face.
The young boy ventured deeper into the building, witnessing more bodies than he would care to count or describe. It pained him to think that everyone was dead, gone.
As he reached the end of the building he noticed a sign of life. The only one, beside him, in the whole building.
He rushed over to the blob of yellow that lay under a concrete pillar. A pillar that had once supported the walls of the hall.
He quickly pushed the pillar off the female who was presumed alive.
Doing so revealed a blonde whose clothes was torn like the others and was surrounded by keys. Golden keys and silver keys lay around her, creating a circle. And they were all broken.
The keys seemed to be the ones who protected the girl from the death all her friends had received.
The blonde opened her eyes, barely breathing and the breath of the boy caught.
"Lucy..." the boy choked out, the sadness of all his friends dying finally getting to him.
The girl smiled softly despite her many injuries. "Natsu, this is my final request. Will you listen?"
Natsu looked at his best friend again, tears covering most of his face and dripping on to the frail girl he held in his arms.
His grip tightened and the girl took that as a "yes".
"Natsu, I want you to create Fairy Tail once again." The blonde said softly.
Natsu gasped, tears streaming even faster now. His eyes met hers and he silently pleaded with her.
Don't go! His eyes screamed out. Don't leave me alone!
"Don't worry, Natsu. We will always be with you. All of us. Me, Gray, Erza, Happy, Wendy...and everyone else." Lucy tried to reassure the boy that held her body in her arms.
She lifted her hand and showed her Fairy Tail mark. "We're a family." She said, her words coming out slower as her life began to slip away.
"Lucy..." Natsu's voice quivered as he spoke, "please don't leave."
"I won't, I promise." She said. "Can you promise me something?"
The boy nodded, not trusting himself to open his mouth without bursting into even more tears.
"Promise me that you won't be sad. Promise me that no matter what, you won't back down, you won't give up. Promise me that you will live your life to its fullest. Promise me, Natsu. Its my final request, do you accept?" Lucy spoke, her voice getting quieter and quieter as she did. She didn't have much time.
Natsu cried and cried. He didn't want her to go. He didn't want this to be her final request. He wanted to spend the rest of his life with her, having fun and conquering the darkness together.
"I promise," he finally said.
Lucy smiled, tears forming in her eyes. She raised her hand to Natsu's face and cupped it with her hands.
"I love you, Natsu," she mouthed and closed her eyes.
Natsu began to shake as the pale hands were removed from his face and fell limply by either sides of the female. Her body relaxed in his hands and her face tilted to the side.
She was dead.
"I love you too, Lucy" Natsu cried and held the girl to his chest, letting all his tears out, all the sadness, all the guilt, come rushing out.
"I promise Lucy, I won't forget your request....."
----------
10 years later....
A young girl with with her brown pigtails ran through the doors of a beautiful building.
"Master, Master!!" She shouted out, waving a piece of paper in the air. She ran toward a man who sat on the bar counter. He casually drank from his mug and opened an eye to see the young girl jump toward him.
He caught her by her collar and gently dropped her to the ground. She had just attempted, for the millionth time, to hug him. He no longer like hugs for the person who he wished to be hugged by was no longer there.
"What is it, Zera?" He spoke.
The teenager's eyes sparkled and lit up. "Master! I did it! I completed my first mission!!"
The man signed. The girl was only fourteen and yet she was bursting with energy. "Well done." He simply said and the girl smiled widely before joining up with her fellow guild mates.
A man entered the building and walked toward the "Master". The man had spiky blonde hair and a scar above his eye.
The "Master" looked over to the blonde and smiled.
"Nice to see you, Natsu-san." The blonde spoke, sitting next to him.
"Same to you, Sting." The pink-haired man responded.
"How have you been?" Sting asked.
"Fine." Was his only reply.
"How do you like being Master?"
"Its tiring." He answered which received him a chuckle from his friend.
"Yeah, its true. Can't fool around as much as we used to, can we?"
"Nope, no wrecking cities anymore." He joked.
A silence befell the two as they watched the people in the guildhall.
"Are you really okay, Natsu?" Sting asked again, apparently not satisfied with the answer he had received previously.
"I'm fine." He replied again.
"You sure?" The blonde pestered.
"Yeah." The man answered again, getting a bit annoyed.
Smiling, Sting continued. "You positive?"
"Ugh, you wanna go?!" Natsu yelled, getting the attention of the guild.
"Sure, let's have a battle like the old times!" Sting smirked and jumped off the table, preparing for battle.
"Ugh," Natsu groaned. "This is what I get for losing my cool. He probably planned this." He glanced at Sting who was grinning from ear to ear.
"Go Master!!" Zera called out and a bunch of other shouts were yelled. People began betting on who would will.
Natsu signed and jumped off the counter. He faced the fellow dragon slayer and let out a huge gasp, surprising the blonde, as he prepared his attack.
"Fire Dragon's....." Natsu began to suck in air and Sting widened his eyes. He didn't expect him to be serious.
"Roar!!!" He shouted letting out a burst of flames, destroying half the building and giving his victory.
Sting lay passed out on the ground, his eyes swirling around and his hair charred.
"I went a bit over board it seems." Natsu murmured before the audience burst into laughter.
Natsu couldn't help but laugh as well. He looked up into the sky, since he basically destroyed half the ceiling smiled.
"I did it Lucy, I'm fulfilling my promise." He said and he smiled as he heard two words spoken by his best friend.
Thank you....
