School
I swear I'm gonna have a mental breakdown!
I somehow got into algebra this year and it is way to hard for me! I am getting very low grades on tests and not getting any of the material that my teacher gives me.
Every class period I am quite literally on the verge of tears.
My mother is trying to help me in anyway she can, but sometimes she comes off as a bit intimidating and mean.
Like tonight, I got a C on my test on Friday, (yes I know don't judge), and I had test corrections for homework. At first she flipped out because I got a C, then agreed to help me with it.
We sat down and I told her what problems I got wrong etcétera. Then we got to one problem and she asked me to try it on my own after she explained it. I started working it out then she stopped me about halfway through the problem.
"You already missed a step."
"Huh?" I replied.
I looked over at her work and she had the exact same thing that I did.
"You need to multiply this by five, so what do you put here?" Etc.
I was completely confused until I realized that we had a variable and I just needed to put 5x.
"But you didn't put it either when you were explaining to me."
She didn't even look at her paper, and she just said, "Yes I did, now finish the problem."
Then later after finishing a few more problems, she went off on me again.
It was a very simple question, but I still got it wrong.
I like to visualize what the numbers look like, so I'm often drawing on my paper. For this question, I drew a number line.
"You don't need to draw a number line! That's for like third graders!" She yelled.
I used my visualization excuse for explaining why I had it.
"This is just simple math though!" She said and found the answer super quickly.
"That's all you needed to do!" She said.
"But I did that on the side!"
"No you used the number line, and that's why you got it wrong!" She shouted.
"But-"
"No buts! This is just simple arithmetic!" She yelled.
Tears started forming in my eyes from the pressure and my mother screaming at me.
We eventually finished the problem and she stormed up to her room. My dad was sitting on the couch in the living room, I gave him a look that said, 'What just happened?'
He shook his head saying, 'I really have no idea.'
Then when I heard my mother's footsteps stop, signaling that she was in her room, I just started to fill out bawl.
Sorry this is so long. I just needed to let this out somewhere.
